  1. Sometimes I wonder if Stone is tiring of Benetti. The age difference, maybe Jason's constant joking is starting to bother him. When he mentions his friends on the telecast, it's usually guys a lot older than him, and he's in his 70s. I know they live in the same building, and I guess used to eat every meal together, but apparently that stopped a while ago. Maybe Steve is just saying, "F it, I am going vintage Harry Caray and calling it like I see it, and if I have to move on, so be it. " What is interesting, is he is using a lot more of Hawk's views regarding hitting than ever before.
  2. I doubt it, wasn't there a runner on 3rd? I don't have a problem with sending a runner. MLB has become more like Little League in recent years, they hardly ever throw to 2nd with a runner on 3rd. It's almost automatic you steal it.
  3. Nice comeback after a real bad Saturday.
  4. He does like to be snarky, so I am sure if he doesn’t want to admit he isn’t a fan of Renterias managing, and he has questioned bunts especially many times, he can always fall back on the question was too stupid to answer. The White Sox don’t believe in spending money on managers, so when he is replaced, it won’t be by a big name.
  5. It was a bad day but young teams tend to look really bad at times. Give it a few days and they probably get hot again, It would be nice if the offense was a bit more consistent but the Sox have a ton of hackers. Their 2 guys who do usually work counts the best are struggling in Grandal and EE. That will change, and maybe the young guys will pick up on their approach. It is really hard to come to conclusions now, and probably not after 60 games if they make it that far. If last season was the 60 game pandemic season, Nelson Cruz could probably have been had in the offseason on a minor league comtract. All that said, it would be nice if this offense became dynamic and was able to sustain it for more than a couple games at a time.
  6. The players like Renteria. That is a big part of the job, but he really doesn’t have much feel for the bullpen, probably the biggest part of managing. This goes back to his days with the Cubs. He isn’t the guy who is going to lead a team that is not totally stacked to a title.
  7. The 3 guys in front of him today had no hits.
  8. I‘M pretty sure if the White Sox had moved, another team would have moved to Chicago eventually. Maybe Oakland or Minnesota.
  9. Looks like the Bulls are finally moving into the modern NBA.
  10. CNN has had some mess ups, but I get a kick out of CNN being considered "fake news" by followers of someone who deceives you every day.
  11. 60 is going to be tough in Oakland
  12. Nightengale is reporting no game on Friday, hoping for a DH on Saturday. The Cards play at White Sox and then at Cubs, so stay away from the Michigan Ave. area the next few days.
  13. Jed Lowrie signed a 2 year $20 million contract with the Mets before last season. He has made 8 plate appearances since, and is tied with me for career hits with the Mets.
  14. Its going to be very different, but these guys do play spring football anyway, and I am sure hitting in practices will be at a minimum for the spring and next fall. I agree a lot of high picks won't be playing, but that's a small price to pay vs. death or long term heart issues. Everyone should have worn a mask 5 months ago and stayed away from people for a couple of weeks. These are some of the consequences.
  15. No, but even if she did, it would be no different than staying home. You really think every football player would be on the straight and narrow? All it takes is one.
  16. How do you socially distance playing football? You can as a student, but I don't know how many Big Ten universities are holding face to face classes. My niece goes to Michigan State and she is on line for the first semester.
  17. Big Ten has pulled the plug. The rest will follow. If only people were more concerned with getting rid of the virus than their constitutional "right" to not wear masks and blow off saftety guidelines............
  18. Also, when Law first ranked him high, he had never seen him play either. I don't know why this has to continue to be re-hashed. It would be great to have him, but they aren't getting him back. The trade was terrible, but the only thing that can be done now is move on.
  19. It was a horrible trade. I wonder if the Sox would have made it if Big Game James wasn't related to Aaron Rowand. But Tatis never suited up for the White Sox organization. No one knew what he was or else his bonus would have been a lot higher.
  20. He could if all he was going to do is pinch run. Ryan Goins is a 32 year old pinch runner with 6 career stolen bases. Obviously, when TA gets back, maybe even today, Ryan is probably gone, so it would have just delayed another move which would have been Basabe. Zavala is probably safe because they need a catcher in Schaumburg.
  21. They called up Anderson. Ryan Goins really serves no purpose. TA and Madrigal are hurt and he still only pinch runs. He's obvious as well. All in all, it really isn't a big deal, but the Sox still have several guys who suck. At least you can't go easily 15 deep with easy DFA if needed decisions anymore.
  22. Just to get an idea of JR's weath, ARod, who probably made more money playing baseball than anyone ever, and J-LO, an entertainment mogul, can't come close to buying the Mets. JR has the Sox, worth about as much as the Mets, and the Bulls, according to Forbes, worth almost double that. The move to get rid of Leila came from above. I doubt she was making very much. She supposedly lives in a 650 sq. Ft. apartment. But that station is weird. They eliminated Dan Hayes and the guy who was writing for the Cubs. They both wound up at the Athletic. Then they hire Gordon Wittemayer and Adam Hoge to do the same job.
  23. I like it, especially with 28 man rosters. Not having it would make the games even longer.
