I really don't know what Manfred can do. The owners gave him a drop dead season ending date of Sept. 27th. If this turns out to be the downfall of him, it certainly isn't consistent. They probably should have emphasized the no high fives etc. stuff they had in the program, but at some point, you have to treat them as adults which would include giving them some responsibility. There may be a very innocent reason for the breakout, it might be just stupidity. We will never know. But they need to eliminate any stupidity.

I don't think everyone is 6 feet apart and some tables are still allowed to have 6 people, not to mention they are set up on the sidewalk with people walking a couple of feet away. Except for about half the tables indoors were not in use, it was almost like a normal Sunday. If you walked down Wells in Old Town yesterday, you would have had no idea a pandemic was killing restaurants.

I am sure they are no different from most people in their age bracket. I walked by a restaurant yesterday. Brunch is a huge deal in Chicago. You can serve the crappiest brunch in the world and you will get a crowd. Yesterday, all the tables outside were full, and half of them inside. No one at a table is wearing a mask. People act like it has just gone away, or there is no way they will get it or give it to someone.

Not really. Bars and churches seem to be where a lot of this is coming from. It is mindboggling to me why anyone would go into a store that doesn't require them.

Gio Gonzalez is horrible

He needs a Matt Thornton fix. Thornton like Fulmer, couldn’t throw a strike to save his life. Coop had him try something in his first bullpen session with the team and he became elite. Fulmer’s stuff has tons of movement.He has great spin rates. He just can’t get it close enough to entice swings. Then he has to groove it. If he fixes it, he will have a nice career. Odds are against it, but hopefully he can get it straitened out.

Every team was given the same crowd noise. How they use it or do not use it is up to them. It is the same crowd noice they use in their video game.

Day game after a night game is probably the reason for Grandal sitting as he will catch tomorrow. If Leuri is awful defensively what do you call what Mendick did in the preseason games? Delmonico probably sucks but had a nice spring and seemed to be hitting well when they came back so probably a better chance vs a righty than Engel. Also, if Giolito can't throw to Grandal the signing was the worst in team history. Lucas was just missing his spots yesterday. It had nothing to do with the catcher just be happy he was the 95 mph Giolito and not the 91 mph version we saw before last season. He had a bad night and will be fine. With this unusual season, we are going to get a lot of that. Nothing will be normal. Just think 8f this happened last year and there were only 60 games, there is a decent chance Nelson Cruz is out of baseball. I also the the Sox had a better record last season after 60 than the eventual WS champs even though the importance of each game is tripled, taking too much out of one is not wise.

I am pretty sure the Sox would have still lost had Leury been perfect in the field last night. But new year, new punching bag. Get a win today and maybe get on a roll.

DFA'd. We will see. I am not sure if he would have to accept the outright or not. I do think he is a guy that can be turned around a bit if someone can help him throw strikes. Whether that person exists and is employed by a major league baseball team is a good question.
