  1. The other problem is the tests are messed up. Juan Soto is out. He has since received 6 negative tests. They are then followed with a positive. Testing still sucks, and these guys get VIP test treatment. What is it like for the average Joe? A huge government failure.
  2. It went from watching and enjoying the games with it way in the back of my mind, something might derail this, to knowing it's coming and just wondering when. I feel like an undrafted free agent on cut day. I know it's coming, but when? I am hoping things turn around. Seeing masks in the dugout, no high fives, would help. But I'm with you, the enjoyment is gone, at least for a little while. They had to give it a shot, but they really can't work in a bubble. Being a non contact sport, there still was a chance. The NBA and NHL might work with their bubbles, but the NFL? No way. College Football? Forget about it.
  3. If this were the Yankees, this season would be paused. Since the Marlins suck, they carry on.
  4. It would make sense, but how far along is she? It appears at least a couple of months. She would cheat on him a month or two in a marriage seems at least a little far fetched. Maybe not I suppose. I am sure we will find out about that part. We just have to hope he is doing well, and this doesn’t take him to a dark place. Divorces are tough with kids involved.
  5. Intensity level is far different. No one seemed to get seriously injured during the down time. Now, several seem serious after one start. Obviously some are going to get hurt. I just think it’s alarming it seems pretty serious for several at this juncture. I think the quick ramp up could be a reason. I think Kopech: if that ultimately was his reason, had a point made for him.
  6. I don’t know how they could. Pitching during the season is a lot different than throwing in an alley. Plus they get someone overlooking their shoulder conditioning instead of them overlooking their shoulder conditioning. These guys prepare for spring training and 2 weeks in aren’t throwing 98 for the most part. Now they have to. Kuechel seems to be thriving but he is a soft tosser. I would be really careful with Cease. If you have to take your lumps for yanking them early for a couple of weeks, it’s probably better in the long run.
  7. Weird that it just happened to happen now.Stone was talking about this yesterday. He said there are going to be more of these than usual. I think you cannot assume these guys were able to keep up with usual routines during their down time.
  8. Goins is a bit more versatile. He can play the middle infield as well. Is a left handed hitter. Offensively they are very similar. Not a ton of power, little on base. I don't know who the better runner is but they could just prefer Goins. A decent case can be made he is just the better player.
  9. I think if people thought it was easy to catch, getting them to wear a mask, and act at least somewhat responsibly, wouldn't be so hard.
  10. Kluber is out, Verlander is out, Lopez....looks like Kopech was on to something.
  11. It can be done, but it is hard. For one thing, they are so used to doing it another way. I am a huge mask guy. I have probably walked out my door 15 times without it on, and have to go back. It's hard not to high 5 or celebrate a walk off. But they have to. It should just be hotel, bus, ballpark. Nothing else. They only have to do it for 30 games on the road, so while it's a little bit of hell, it is only a little bit.
  12. The Minnesota Vikings Infection control person now has the virus. It's looking more and more like this is a lot easier to catch than a lot of people believe.
  13. And that's part of the problem. But it's like people driving drunk and making it home unscathed. They didn't kill anyone so it must be alright.
  14. I agree. Mask should be mandatory in the dugout. Hand sanitizer should be put on every half inning. The dugout should be a ghost town except for those in the game, and high fives, bumping elbows, etc. need to be eliminated.
  15. Travelling by plane is interesting. My cousin's wife is Mexican and her father is very ill in Mexico, so he had to go down there. He was wearing goggles, a mask, gloves and a face shield on the plane. He texted a picture. Then yesterday, my neighbor and her partner were outside with a bunch of suitcases and I asked if they were taking a vacation. It turns out her grandmother is dying in California and they were going to drive out there. I showed her a picture of my cousin and told her flights roundtrip to LAX were something like $75. She should fly. I think she did.
  16. Owners are banking for a playoff payoff. It will probably take multiple teams being devastated or one stacked team which could make the season a joke, to cancel it.
  17. Think about how things have changed. Back several months ago, one NBA player tested positive and it basically shut sports down. Now a team is devastated by it, and it's play on.
  18. I wonder if this was the Yankees or the Dodgers if the season would be put on hold already. Since it's the Marlins, while it is sounding the alarms, probably not as loud as it would have with the biggest names.
  19. A few states opened up before reaching the CDC guidelines for opening up. They were praised by the WH, however, those states are in a whole world of hurt right now. As much as I love watching baseball, to say because I work, they must, is beyond selfish. Selfish most likely being the biggest reason the US is having such a problem with this virus.
  20. And if you don't want to wear a mask or follow the rules, it just makes everything take longer. There is a reason the US is in the postion it is in. Our "leadership" wanted to make acting in a safe fashion a political issue. The players haven't been following the guidelines. Sounds very familiar. And now trouble follows.
  21. I don't know where you are going with this, but I would say there probably shouldn't be sports in the middle of a pandemic if you can't keep all of the people involved safe.
  22. Yes, but in the event they are not, playing baseball isn't worth dying over. Not all the players are asympotmatic.
  23. C'mon man. Eloy was dizzy because he was playing LF. I have never seen a player I am more scared will get hurt by a wall. Rowand used to ram into them, but at least he knew it was there. Eloy seems to never realize he is near a wall.
  24. So for the Marlins it's 11 players and 2 coaches.
  25. If you go off on your own at contract the virus in a non team activity, like a bar, in the NFL you will face discipline, including not getting paid.
