  1. The funny thing is, the stricter gun laws in these countries have nothing to do with it. The morons in the NRA and all of the politicians that take NRA money, need to be put in their place.
  2. Rizzo was never ranked where Eloy and Bryant are/where. And Rizzo took a step back with the Cubs as a 23 year old, but still was above average. And the Cubs and White Sox are quite different. You have to look at the future. If half of these guys are as good as you hope, and you spend, spend, spend, on free agents, you're going to want that extra year of control you gave up back in 2018 to throw a bone to the natives who aren't paying to watch you play now anyways. If 2019 was a realistic contending year, I would say call them up. But I do find it amusing that you shouldn't wait to call up guys based on future contracts, but it is OK to wait until after the Super 2 deadline.
  3. That is the issue I have. Leaving it to the internet probably makes it worse.
  4. So LH have a .900 OPS against this guy and Ricky has him bunt to go down 0-2. I think I have seen enough. When it is time to win, he cannot be making the decisions.
  5. If anyone has been on the track around the field, there are little pebbles on the dirt. I guess they do it for the equipment that must be driven around.
  6. A few years ago at Soxfest, Nick Capra, then a minor league guy, maybe the director, was asked for a sleeper. He mentioned Stephens. He said he thought he as just as good as Fulmer who had been with the team for 6 months.
  7. That's my deal. If he were 6'0" tall, there's a pretty decent chance he goes 1-1. He'd be gone by 1-2 for sure IMO.
  8. He has fanned the exact same amount of times in about 120 plate appearances as Matt Davidson did yesterday, so you would think if whatever he did to get some extra power wouldn't move the needle too much downward.
  9. This guy isn't bright enough to get away with murder. Back then, you wouldn't have known to make sure none of your DNA was around, and even if you did, he isn't the guy who would have been able to figure out how to have none of his there. The guy is a grounds crew guy, not very sophisticated. If there is no DNA, there are overwhelming odds he wasn't there. There was something signed that said he was innocent. False confessions happen all the time. To think they did get the right guy is not being fair iMO.
  10. They deadened the aluminum bat a bit several years ago. It still can be an issue, but not what it was.
  11. Adam Eaton is a little guy too. A guy like him capable of playing middle infield seems like a really nice player to me. Lillian liked Madrigal but then saw a youtube video of some guys who think they are experts ripping his swing, so her opinion drastically changed. Now the guy can't do anything. His .458 batting average kind of implies he can hit.
  12. Do you really think if they don't name the shooter it will help solve the problem? I suppose if it keeps one from shooting it is way more than worth it. I just think the cat is already out of the bag. They don't show the morons running out on the field anymore, but it still happens from time to time.
  13. While I agree with this for the most part, 1B/DH guys his age, making his money, aren't valued like we would like. If you could get some quality back for him, do it, but if it will basically look like a salary dump with crap coming back, I think his value to the team is too high for that.
  14. If you are so married to must play position best suited, how come you aren't all for Adam Engel being a bat boy?
  15. While I understand what you are saying, I would think no. I wouldn't trade Abreu for moderate prospects, but if you can, keep trading for the Gillaspies, and Cordells. Most likely they show why they were traded because they suck, but eventually you will hit on one.
  16. Stone didn't give what I would call a ringing endorsement of Kopech, that's for sure. He does seem enamored with Eloy.
  17. This is probably behind a pay wall, but Steve Stone commenting on these 2. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/ct-spt-white-sox-steve-stone-prospects-20180520-story.html
  18. Bringing these guys up for ticket selling sake isn't going to work. I was talking to a guy Saturday night who has premium season tickets and has had them for 50 years. This is it for him. He's bailing after this season. Can't take it anymore. I told him things are going to change, but this year's model spooked him. It is one of the dangers. The people paying for tickets that you buy on Stubhub dirt cheap don't like throwing their money away. Plus the new tax cuts take away the write off bringing clients to a game brings. The White Sox are going to have to do something for these people to make them stay.
  19. It only makes sense to trade him if you are going to get at least one really good prospect.
  20. Maybe it is what is best. In 2007 the White Sox shut John Danks down after August and 135 ip. 2008 was perhaps his best seasn including a gem in game 163. I would agree and say there is a point where you have to call them up, but Kopech hasn't mastered AAA and Eloy has very little experience above A ball.
  21. I am not ignoring their development at all. Kopech. Has a 4.02 ERA in AAA, and Jimenez has 201 plate appearances above A ball. If the plan is mid July, an extra month and a half this year and 2 weeks next year shouldn't hurt development, while improving the odds of sustainable winning.
