  1. When it gets this this point, I think either they weren't going to appeal or the appeals process has played out.
  2. Will he be suspended before tomorrow’s game or after? If before, it is an afternoon game, they need someone quick.
  3. And this was against a line up that featured Caleb Jospeh batting clean up. He set a major league record in 2016 when he had 141 plate appearances and didn’t have any runs batted in. That is the most plate appearances while getting shutout of a RBI in history.
  4. I think you would find just the opposite. Players traded to another team for their free agent year sign elsewhere to the highest bidder. And you better believe the cold, the losing and the empty park could play a role.
  5. I think everyone understands the concept, they just don’t buy it will work. In the past, it has worked 1 out of 3 when the extended Freddy Garcia. It was a bit different because he was really tight with Ozzie and he didn’t become a free agent, and signed a slight discount. Samardjiza, Bartolo Colon are 2 guys who didn’t seem to find it a place they couldn’t leave, plus it would have cost good prospects. Right now Russell and Schwarber is what I hear it is going to cost, so they would have had to beat that. I personally think the whole point was he was going to like losing so much in the frigid empty GRF, that they would convince him to take a discount. It wasn’t going to happen. If they offer him the most money this winter, I like their chances. I don’t think they have a chance if they don’t. And I don’t think they would have had a chance if they traded for him during the winter and didn’t offer the most cash.
  6. Google weather Houston, looks like rain.
  7. The column was always meant to be smartass. I really don't know why people are so offended by it.
  8. Makes sense, but unfortunately he would go to Charlotte.
  9. what is in that article that you haven't read here 30 times? Why are people so upset with it?
  10. The more OF help they sign for Charlotte, the less likely Eloy Jimenez will ever be a Charlotte Knight.
  11. Jared got his security clearance back. I think I read where he only revised his security form 44 times. Only the best people, believe me.
  12. The weird thing to me was how the White Sox went from a team that recognized hitters, to one that couldn't find one for years. For a long while, it seemed almost everyone they brought in, might not be able to catch or throw, but they could hit. All through the 90s with little exception, and through when they traded for Thome, but after that, it just stopped. Everyone they traded for or signed as a free agent struggled to put up numbers anywhere near their career norms. Everyone they drafted looked like a pitcher at the plate. Abreu or as a guy I met at a game last week calls him Abrew, and Eaton were pretty much the only exceptions. Hopefully that is turning around now. It would be great if the guy they add in the offseason when they are good again on a one year contract actually hits like the guys they used to bring in did.
  13. I think Rosenbloom is pretty funny most of the time. His column is supposed to be smart assed, not some heavily researched, heavy digging, journalism. He just writes what a lot of people think, but people's sports teams are like their brother, it's OK if you make fun of him, if someone else does, you get offended.
  14. From what I could google, the Cubs offered $20 million more than Boston for Lester.
  15. He technically took less. He has tow opt outs where if he actually played up to the contract, he would have made significantly more.
  16. I get all that but I can't see where it should be an issue. Eloy has barely played above A ball. Kopech has less than 200 innings above A ball. I have season tickets. I would love to see them play. It would be far more enjoyable than what I have paid to see now. I used to dread going to James Shields starts. Now, it could be worse. But if I am going to sit through this crap, I want to do it right. Let's get the extra year of control. I don't think they will do it, but I wish they would.
  17. It always comes down to who offers him the most money. If the offers are all the same, he'll pick a city he likes with a team that wins. If the Sox want Machado, they will have to blow away the other offers. It's always how it has worked. If the White Sox actually think they can sweet talk their way to a discounted contract, that's laughable. I don't think they are, but the supposed attempt to trade for him last winter makes me wonder. That whole, if he sees how it is here, he will like it and take less money is a joke.
  18. Isn't the whole point of bringing up Jimenez and Kopech this season is fear they may suck for a while? Personally, if the product wasn't so unwatchable, I think a lot more people would see keeping these guys in the minors makes a lot more sense than calling them up this season. The excuse that they can't learn any more at the minor league level is laughable. Mike Trout mastered the major leagues, yet somehow, he continues to get better. If these guys are half as good as we all hope, 4 or 5 years from now, people are going to wish the Sox kept them down for the extra year of control.
  19. It probably would help if Trump actually had any idea about what he is talking about.
  20. All I am saying is if you think not calling them up this year and waiting for a couple of weeks next yerar means they will not be good players next season or 2020, they aren't nearly the prospects every thinks they are.
