Yes, but the White Sox wouldn't go by stats alone. They would know if he's getting by because his pitches that would never be swung at are being swung at in a lower level. I don't know what good having the same thing happen over and over and over again is doing. Maybe if someone is swinging at his crap he gets some confidence, and might be able to throw strikes on a more regular basis. Something has to change, eventually.

I think his test site was messed up so he couldn't use it, so he figured he might as well play nice for a while., and get stuff for nothing. Hotels in NK? Kim will be long gone before that could be a tourist attraction.

Trump NK Golf club would be sweet. The 2 dictators could play a round. It would last about 5 minutes with all the holes in one.

Besides actual pitching and throwing strikes, the other thing Giolito needs to correct, unless somehow he becomes a superstar and hardly ever allows baserunners, is how teams can run him off the mound. Catchers don’t have a chance.

A fair and balanced soliloquy about Jose Abreu, by ron

The game is different now. It's always been as long as you can hit the gas, you can play forever. It wasn't bad when guys were throwing 90-92. Now that its ticked up significantly, once you hit 32 or 33, most guys are in trouble. -
Pedro Gomez reporting Ohtani will need TJ, and is out until 2020.

Yeah. We see how many times Moncada got rung up this weekend on pitches that weren't strikes. You have to figure in AA, it's probably worse.

Pretty much every team other than GS and Houston that isn’t tanking, is in NBA hell. -
Jason either has no idea what he is talking about or lost track of the score.

If Philadelphia picks a guy because the White Sox like him, they need to fire their entire staff.
-
He has all the talent in the world.

It was a bad throw by Moncada, but Anderson’s toss to second made that happen. Little League defense that inning.

Frankie Montas is pitching really well lately. It looks like he lost a few pounds. I know the Sox were very concerned he would balloon. I don’t think his knees are all that sound.
-
They said they will re-examine in 3 weeks. I know nothing about ligaments, but he had a grade 1 in Japan. Now grade 2 with not a real heavy workload. Seems to me that ligament is going to pop eventually.

For sure. Depending on James Shields to pitch well to get you to the playoffs is like depending on winning the lottery to pay your mortgage. Not such a sound strategy.
-
The other thing to consider is with all the tanking, the fight for a WC isn’t as big as before. Right now in the AL it’s really a 6 team fight for 5 spots. The NL has a few more teams involved but not many. If you look at their rotations, it’s hard to see where Shields would be an upgrade, and you have to figure there will be better pitchers available.
-
You're a GM of a playoff contender and have to win games. Do you want James Shields on the mound for you?

White Sox select Nick Madrigal with 4th overall pick

The guy he reminds me of is a smaller version of Craig Biggio, with not as much power, but better contact skills and defense. Biggio was listed at 5'11" but Bagwell was 6 feet. Craig is significantly shorter, and they both have a bit of a leg kick. I don't want to say he is going to be a HOFer, that's crazy, but I do think he is going to have a significant impact on winning games. -
There's a reason its free.
-
He's probably distracted by all the trade talk.
-
Santiago isn't going to have those innings, because he will never last. He's gone by the 4th or 5th these days. His stuff isn't good enough for enough swings and misses, only increasing the ridiculous amount of pitches he throws anyways.
-
If someone would take Shields' money, that would by far trump any player they could acquire for him while eating it. No way that happens.

The picture in the Sun Times was even sicker. It was a horrible call. -
I think their biggest chip eventually, maybe not for a year, is a healthy Carlos Rodon.
