I agree, especially when he is trying to establish himself. I am seen him sat down by too many umpires on borderline strikes and non strikes to think what he is doing pays off. It worked for Frank Thomas, but he was established. Maybe after Moncada starts putting up some numbers he will get those calls, but right now I think he needs to try what you are suggesting.

I think a lot of people , including White Sox employees, were expecting Giolito to be a part of the next good White Sox team. The same things that happened to Giolito can happen to all of these guys. Hopefully it won’t. I would like to know know who you think they are counting on. IMO, it is more likely they have to still spend a lot of money on pitching when they start trying to be good, than they have all the pitching they need except for some small pieces here and there in house. One reason Theo stuck with hitters is the crapshoot young pitching is.

Of course he was considered a part of the rebuild. He wasn’t exactly a throw in for the Eaton trade. He won’t be 24 for another month, so maybe there is still a chance. His performance after he was called up last season was pretty similar to Lopez performance this year. Is Lopez not considered part of the rebuild either? Did they just give Eaton away?

If there is one thing this stretch has shown, Kopech isn’t ready for the major leagues. It might be good for him long term.

I think I have mentioned this before but it was funny and I thought Hawk would get in some trouble, in the early 90s they were in Oakland, and it was a beautiful day. Sunny, in the 80s. I was watching a sobering discussion about the White Sox rebuild yesterday. They mentioned Giolito stinking up the place, should be in the minors. Fulmer , sent back to the minors. Lopez doing well, but has the highest xFIP of any qualified MLB pitcher, indicating a severe regression. Moncada up and down. Kopech with some issues in AAA. One panelist did mention the amount of prospects the Sox have and how they have accounted for some failure , but then mentioned not every rebuild is going to go like the Cubs and Houston. Some teams are going to be bad for 10 years. One guy mentioned signing Chris Sale when he becomes a free agent. How it would appeal to him at that time that trading for him started the rebuild and bringing him back would be the cherry on the sundae.

That's my point. Have them for an entire season when they are supposed to be good, or have them for a month or two when they are bad. They will have almost all of next season to "get their feet wet". To me, calling them up now is just being impatient. In 2007, John Danks was pretty awful. The Sox pretty much shut him down at the beginning of September. He came back the next season a changed man. Missing that September "development" didn't hurt him at all.
