  1. I think it's pretty common. I read an article once where a scout said HS pitchers throwing 98 are throwing 88 by the time they are 28.
  2. Giolito isn't the first pitcher to throw 97 in high school and threw 91 five years later, and he won't be the last.
  3. And if he can't figure out how to throw a strike by the end of spring training next year, A. Who will want him, and B. Who cares if the Sox lose him.
  4. Not only does he lead the league in walks, he also has hit 10 guys already.
  5. Could it just be the guy just sucks? I know the whole Nationals screwed up his mechanics thing, but people are too married to Keith Law thinking this guy is good. He throws 91-92 and misses his spots not by inches, but by yards. And when he does throw something over the plate, how often does he make someone look foolish? As Kat Williams would say, "not never".
  6. He pitched really well last night, but one start, his 13th as a White Sox, most in team history to get to win #1, shouldn't get people too excited. Next start he might be back to the Dylan Covey we all know and hope to avoid when we have tickets to the game.
  7. Gio and Fulmer are 2 of the latest examples of never believe what you see in September.
  8. His major offensive weapon is a walk. The guy has some girth to him. You would think he could hit a ball harder than a 105 lb. 5th grader.
  9. Gio's side sessions must look a whole lot better than when he gets to the mound or they wouldn't bother throwing him to the wolves.
  10. Rodon starts either tonight or tomorrow in AAA, so I would imagine his next start is with the White Sox.
  11. I often wonder how different pitching would be if there were no guns in MLB parks.
  12. The Orioles only owe Chris Davis a little more than $100 million. Talk about a guy who should be doing time for stealing.
  13. Correct. He did make sure he was dead though.
  14. Because they pay them a lot of money. Most of these guys know players on just about every team. How many examples are there of teams who trade for premium guys in the last year of their contract, and re-sign them after they become a free agent? It's a nice concept. It's just not based in reality. Money talks. Then winning. Then maybe playing with your friends.
  15. That jackass actually had the nerve to ask for "privacy" when his wife was taking his kids away from him for being nuts. The fact that the President of the United States considers himself a fan of this guy's BS is really hard to wrap your head around. It's unbelievable.
  16. Randy Johnson was called up when he was 24 years old. Pedro was used mostly as a reliever initially. Kopech is averaging 5 innings a start. That would most likely go down if promoted. I would think at the very least, you would have to be pretty sure he can average 5 innings a start before a promotion or you will be killing the rest of the staff, just so you can show off the new toy to play with.
  17. Does anyone know how bad Kevan Smith is injured? If he's good to go in a week, that's one thing, if it's a month or longer, that's another. And does minor league DL carry over to the major leagues? If it was just precautionary in Charlotte, could that be cancelled ?
  18. KJU is very honorable. I'm surprised this happened. I think Trump should get his prize anyways. Everyone is saying he deserves one. He just wants world peace, and the only way to get it is to threaten to blow up everyone.
  19. Yeah. Let's face it, Kevan Smith is probably the best guy to fill it. Too bad he's hurt. That Oakland guy can't hit at all. Everyone available, especially with what the Sox want to or should pay are going to most likely be pretty, pretty, pretty, awful.
  20. I just want to emphasize I think the Sox would be more interested in a RH hitting guy since Narvaez is LH.
