  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 09:48 AM) If this is going to be something more than just a blip, like after Anita Hill, they need to truly get pushed out and not just apologize. He should resign. I agree, the problem is, there are so many, and the potential to make it even more political will be immense. Either party can attack senators and congressmen and officials even higher up with lines of people making false claims. It will be the new move. Gloria Allred will be a billionaire. At least most of the claims coming out now, can be corroborated. Probably 95% of politicians will be accused. But it has to stop. I have posted a couple of times, the casting couch has long been known, and long been laughed about. How many times have you heard or read who did she have to blow to get that job? People with power cross the line all the time. Hopefully all these stories do something to make it stop. But I'm afraid it will be a blip.
  2. Well there goes my idea of Al Franken for President. The photo doesn't appear like he is touching her but the thought is obviously wrong, and what he did earlier that evening was wrong. All these assholes need to be exposed.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 09:10 AM) Its not nearly that simple, DA. Niko pushed him twice, then stepped at him like he was going to hit him and THEN Portis busted his face. Nobody in the real world would be like "Niko is justified, portis is a criminal". They would be like "Portis defended himself after Niko pushed him twice and then acted like he was gonna throw a punch" But this isnt the real world, this is a sport where guys get into dustups. They both lost valuable time on the court for their respective careers. Its time for Niko to play, and he is going to have to play with Portis. He doesnt have to forgive and forget, but he is going to have to suck it up until one of them goes to another organization I understand that, although the initial reports were Portis sucker punched him after some shoving. Now, since it's pile on Niko time, the tide goes the other direction. There are fights and there are fights. Breaking someone's face is not defending yourself. I don't know why so few can't understand Niko's position. He's fine with leaving. It has to wait. He's not comfortable around the guy. I don't think that is acting like a child. Kendall Gill punched the Doyle idiot from NU and got fired. He didn't send him to the hospital. It was apparent once this happened, one of them needed to go. I really don't think it will cost the Bulls any titles either way it turns out. If they want it to go away quickly, send Portis on his way, or let Niko ride a bike until it's time he can be dealt.
  4. Niko is really getting a lot of crap in the media for not "acting grown up". I wonder what these people would think about working with someone who just busted their face. Yeah, you'll miss some work but when you get back, you just sit in a room and work it out with this person. I'm thinking that wouldn't happen in the real world. Niko's stance is justified. What Portis did is a criminal act.
  5. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 09:05 PM) Sources: #Braves’ penalties will include loss of prospects. Story: https://t.co/37hSP0rcWr $ https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/930986548073566208 Unfortunately have to be a subscriber to read full article. Tho hopefully maitan is one of the prospects. Sox would have no shot at him with only $300k to throw his way.
  6. I really want to like Kris Dunn. He needs to play the old 6 on 6 girls style, where all he plays is defense. He looks like a potential star on that end, but looks like Cam Payne on th offensive end.
  7. There is a quote from Hahn at the end. Certainly doesn't sound like a guy not interested, but probably realistic about his chances. There is a lot to sell if he is trying to make his own mark and RH and JR are contract geniuses. I am sure if he will listen they will talk to him, http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2017/11/14/sho...te-sox-pursuit/
  8. It would be foolish not to try considering what you have to pay and no team can offer more than $3 million more. It would be a huge windfall for the franchise if he said OK. It's a real long shot but unless his people have already said not interested, worth a pitch. I can't imagine they wouldn't be interested in adding him to the roster. That makes zero sense.
  9. There is some talk that Trump is saying nothing about Moore due to fear of how his accusers may react.
  10. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 01:26 PM) It was reported at the time of the showcase - which was some time ago so I do not recall. I'll pull a google search to see if I can dig it up thou. Rosenthal I don't think that was a showcase. I don't think he held a showcase. Just scouts at his game. I am pretty sure KW never saw Iguchi or Shingo live before signing them. If he was willing to take the Sox $300k, I am sure they wouldn't object. He's a big time signing, but not a high level financial risk. The $20 million posting fee is it. And signing him makes them a ton of money from Japan. It's a no brainer. It's pretty much guaranteed to make money. Whatever team he ultimately signs with he is doing a huge favor. He's like Michael Jordan in Japan. His new team will be printing money.
  11. I thought he got rid of the nervousness. He was fine the past couple of years. I would imagine being mostly a writer and then getting regular on air gigs , takes some adjusting. I liked his content. It wasn't just all fluff pieces like we will now see. But that sells a little better I guess. I think if Dan had some more time on his contract, he wouldn't have been laid off. I wonder if Scotty Pods will be back in a part time pre and post game role. I don't know what he added. I don't watch the Cubs much but was Patrick Mooney used on their telecasts as much as Dan was on the White Sox? Maybe they are starting to prepare for the Cubs fleeing and like Gonzo with the Tribune only in reverse, Mooney will switch to the White Sox when they flee.
  12. If they haven't decided by then, which to me is very unlikely, the attendance at the Bears/Cleveland game at Soldier Field on Christmas Eve will convince the McCaskeys change is needed.
  13. Trump wants a thank you from the UCLA basketball players. Without him, they would have been in jail for 10 years. Best. President. Ever.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 10:36 AM) Plenty of teams can offer his bat ABs. This is false. In fact being in the AL would cost him ABs because of the DH. If he started and the Sox didn't use the DH, you don't get the DH back once a reliever comes in. The Sox would either have relievers hitting or need potentially multiple pitch-hitters in a game if they went without the DH. If he went 6 innings, that is still 2ABs that need to be covered. If the latter were the case, they would need to carry a bigger bench than they have to cover the extra possibilities. The theory is he can DH on his off days. Having him actually play the field in between starts may be a problem. I don't think the White Sox have a chance in hell of getting this guy either. But if he is already giving up $100 million, what's a few more?
  15. The White Sox can offer the guy $300k plus the posting fee. Scouting him is nice, but not really necessary. Everyone knows he's worth the max the Sox can offer. With a guy like Verlander, he has a lot of miles and how he was currently throwing was of the upmost importance, considering age and contract.
  16. President Hannity has given Roy Moore 24 hours to straighten out all of his issues or he must drop out. But Bill Clinton...
  17. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 11:10 PM) 8/22/80. *Sigh* Goes to show you how quickly things can change. On this day, Bill Veeck announced that he would be selling the Sox to the ridiculously wealthy Edward DeBartolo. Harry Caray, in this video, is practically beside himself in his exuberance about the prospect. His excitement is like that of a kid on Christmas morning as he talks about how the White Sox fan experience would change, with the team going from the poorhouse to the penthouse in terms of far greater resources available that would significantly enhance the team’s ability to compete. That was August of 1980. In five short months, Harry would, indeed, wake up to a new owner, a new boss, but it would not be DeBartolo and his very deep pockets. A rather different reality awaited him in January 1981. Then, just ten months later, he would end his 11 year career as Voice of the White Sox due to deep concerns about the group who bought the club instead of DeBartolo. Chief among those concerns was what seemed to him some risky and crazy concept called “SportsVision” that was being peddled to him. He would turn out to be very clairvoyant with those concerns. The rest, of course, is history. Caray would simply move up to the north side where he’d spend the rest of his career, 17 years, being the primary force in transforming the Cubs into a national phenomenon. *Sigh* LMAO. Go check out how well DeBartolo's Pittsburgh Penquins did while he owned them. They did win one championship, then he sold. They were Bill Wirtz Blackhawks for most of his 14 years. But I'm sure if he had bought the White Sox, everything would have been peaches and cream.
  18. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 07:32 AM) Is it also possible that JR wouldn't want to pay the $20 million posting fee if he did sign with us? Aren't the Sox paying Robert this year? Considering what they would have to pay him, and what kind of revenue he would generate just from Japan, $20 million is something JR would love to pay.
  19. Greg probably heard the Rush Limbaugh said Roy Moore's behavior can be explained. He was a democrat when he was hitting on high school freshman. Now that he is a republican he would never do that.
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 04:19 PM) Yeah, that's a no This exact question was brought up in a q and a I was at in September, and I did report he answered it just like he answered here. I would imagine if there was a spot and he was dirt cheap, they would have no problem bringing him back. But they aren't going to pay him even what they paid Holland last year.
  21. Supposedly 12 people got laid off. Dan was one, Jim Corno Jr. another. I don't think this will have much impact on the next White Sox TV deal unless Dan Hayes was making leBron money. It appears Dan's contract expired. It looks like they took they easy way with layoffs. Sierra Santos is also on the Sox beat, and I am sure she is a nice woman, but she can't hang with Dan baseball-wise. But that might not be what is important anymore. Since they are going with pregame shows even when the team is on another channel, you would think Dan's services would be needed even more. I guess not.
  22. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 13, 2017 -> 05:56 PM) In reference to Southsider and Dick Allen, you're both kind of correct. I've seen those numbers stated as fact and it doesn't really make sense. There are teams with $$ available that can still be traded all the way up to June 15th. For example, the White Sox have a budget of $4.25 million. They spent 600K that is accounted for on 2 players. They traded an undisclosed amount to Arizona and Texas. They could still have $2 million left for all we know. They could theoretically trade that money to a team that has $3 million left and that team would then have $5 million to offer Otani. This is almost impossible to predict until BA releases their International Signing Reviews for every team. The most the White Sox can offer any player despite what they may have in their pool is $300k. The numbers are what supposedly each team has available at the moment to offer him. Some teams have already spent almost all their money. It would be interesting to see if trading a huge hunk of the pool money this year may net you more than it would normally. But it would probably be some contingent trade, and I am not too sure those are allowed. If the Sox trading most of their pool money is the thing that puts Otani in a team's uniform, you would have to think it would be worth a couple of really good prospects. Not the lottery picks normally traded for pool money.
  23. OB and Hampton going after Fox for challenging the Cunningham play. I wonder if anyone will point out to them that A. Fox gets told whether to challenge or not and B. GB would have challenged the play anyway. I do agree the gameplan sucked. When Chris Speilman is giving your offense crap, it's crap.
  24. McConnell says he misspoke when he said no one in the middle class would get a tax increase under their new make the rich richer scheme.
