He was diagnosed with epilepsy many years ago. Maybe it's worse or has led to something else. There was some story months ago that he might have CTE. The teaser for the interview mentioned paranoia, but that could be several things.

Kanye is dumping Trump. He cleaned his twitter of all his pro-Trump tweets. Too bad, they seem to be made for each other. Maybe they can make up.

Any poll negative towards Trump is fake news per the Donald.

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
Dick Allen replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The White Sox aren't going to trade anyone with Q that would or at least could lessen his return. Hahn said as much at Soxfest when some shmuck thought adding Shields to a Q trade would be a good idea. -
How does he not know if he would get along with Putin? He has already said they have met and get "along great". http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/trum...ms-he-met-putin

Arthur Blanks should never have gone down to the sideline. It all went wrong when that happened. Biggest choke in NFL history.

So the Nats are interested if it doesn't cost them money or players. I suspect every team would be in under those circumstances. -
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Feb 5, 2017 -> 08:41 AM) I didn't see any superstar Royal position players in 14-15 nor Indians in 2016. The Sox had a superstar pitcher and couldn't do a thing with him. Just get solid at every position and above average on at least half of them. The Sox won 78 games with solid at about 1/2 (or less) of the positions and above average at 3 or 4. Might want to check again.

QUOTE (GermanSock @ Feb 4, 2017 -> 05:52 AM) MLB salaries are actually dropping dramatically. Teams have realized that paying mediocre veterans is stupid and you can get almost the same production out of a minimum salary guy. The union made a bignore mistake of only caring about vets (no salary cap, guaranteed contracts...) and ignoring the young players that they are so underpaid now that they take away jobs from the mediocre veterans. The union needs to fight for the costs controlled players getting more expensive or having less control years so that vets become more attractive again. And of course bautista could have gotten a longer contract but not a decently paid one. Of course those contracts are more reasonable from the owners perspective but overall the owners are robbing the players. Owners should make a profit, as they carry the risk but the players share of the revenue has dropped more than 10 percent in the last decade. The average major league salary was a recorded high $4.4 million last year with a record 127 players making at least $10 million. Salaries aren't dropping, they are being re-distributed. Napoli is a 35 year old who put up a 1.0 WAR. Carter is 30 and put up a 0.9. Added together they didn't equal Todd Frazier and we have posts here that claim Frazier was terrible last year. They aren't getting paid because the information says they shouldn't.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 02:19 PM) The foreign minister of UAE supports Trump's ban and he says it's not Islamophobic because the majority of Muslims and Muslim countries can still travel freely. Those countries under the ban need to straighten some things out. And he said this at a press conference with his Russian counterpart. Interesting. Funny thing is, if there was no Trump business in the UAE, they would be ban as well. I wonder what he would think of that.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 02:21 PM) Teams draft multiple guys in the top 10 picks for $100,000 or less and save $$ for after all the time, White Sox included. If a player drafted in the top 10 rounds doesn't sign, then the team loses the ability to spend that bonus money. It's a big reason why college seniors start getting drafted in rounds 8-10 and players drafted in rounds 11-19 make more than $100,000 to sign. Chances of that player being any good are pretty slim. That's why I say, take one of their lesser prospects who you like. You really are lucky if you get 2 or 3 guys who contribute in a draft. People are really excited about the White Sox 2016 draft and they should be. The guys looked great. But when it's all said and done, a couple or more of the guys people are high on will wonder how high they were when they like the player. Courtney Hawkins was going to be a star. Then he hit .178 striking out at a ridiculous rate and still, "he's young for the level". Finally, he sucks. The same thing happens year after year to every team. I think a guy who has been playing against professional competition is easier to project. That's why, even though it really won't happen anyway, I wouldn't take the draft pick if I could if I was making the deal. Give me the player someone already spent $800k or more on, and spent more developing.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 01:56 PM) Exactly. Sox pick at #11 ($3, 998,900), #49 ($1,325, 800), #87 ($606, 100). If the Sox got the 75th pick ($730,800) and went over their bonus pool to the maximum allowed, they could sign a $2 million player at #49 if they want. And that would be basically #30 draft slot money. Big deal. It's not like a top of the line guy is dropping. And then your pool is depleted for the 75th on down.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 01:41 PM) It doesn't necessitate "deals" with their first and second round picks. If a team needs/chooses to overspend on pick 11, 49, or 75, savings can be gained by drafting the college seniors later. I think you are significantly underselling the flexibility that comes with a larger draft pool. Especially when the draft is absolutely where a rebuilding team needs to knock it out of the park. If you took the entire value of the 75th pick and added it to the 49th pick, you basically have the bonus pool of pick #27. And then you are behind the 8 ball for anything later. I just think the guy who already has some development is far easier to project, and a much surer thing. For one thing you don't know how the draft will go. In 2016 Hostetler said he basically hit on all his targets and then some. 2017 might not go that way. Pick #75 isn't so valuable and $800k isn't going to be the number that is going to get you an extra first round talent. If they want to throw some international money the Sox way, that might be good. One thing Hostetler said at Soxfest, and sure it can be fluff, was that the international guys are coming and they are going to be really good. It obviously takes a while, but they seem very happy with the guys Paddy has signed.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 01:10 PM) If the 4th piece is a Victor Diaz type, I'd rather give my scouting director the extra 800K and the 75th pick. That's something that allows you to potentially throw $1 million at a guy overslot during the draft. That would be if you underpay someone. The White Sox currently aren't in the position to look for "deals" with their first round and second round pick. They need to take the best player available. Those guys usually don't give discounts. The $800k would be used on that 75th pick. Screw that. Get someone who has some professional history. The way the draft is anymore, there is very little sliding due to signability. The $800k wouldn't make much of a difference. I just looked back to 2012 as a five year thing. The White Sox took Chris Beck at 76 and they thought he was a steal. I don't think you could have traded Beck for Diaz straight up.
-
Regarless of if it could be traded or not, why would the 75th pick in the draft interest anyone? Get a player that has been developed and can be projected far more accurately. And I am all for Reed. His stock has fallen, he isn't even expected to make their team, but last year he would have been a headliner. He might bust, but the payoff could be as huge as he is.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Feb 2, 2017 -> 12:17 PM) Right, but again, to me that just screams that the DoD screwed up. That's their area of expertise. You can't fault a President for relying on his generals. If it came out that the generals kept advising Trump the plan wasn't going to work and they needed better intel, fine, but we don't really have that yet. I mean yes, to SB's point, at the end of the day the guy that gives the order is responsible. But it's not some negligence on his part that the operation didn't go off without a hitch, which seems to be the implication in the article. Why would Trump rely on his Generals? He has already said he knows far more about ISIS than they do.
-
Not as a headliner for a few reasons, but I would take Profar as back of package filler in a heartbeat assuming the medical report is OK. I know he doesn't have a ton of control left, but he's a guy if healthy might live up to some of the previous hype and very flappable if not an extension candidate.

Weren't the Republicans saying before the election if Hillary was elected the wouldn't let her get anyone on the Court?
-
You have to look into the crystal ball and try to determine if there is a Lebron or Michael or someone of that ilk coming into the draft the next couple of years. That's when you tank and trade Jimmy. If it's just a bunch of meddling guys, you might as well hang on and try to score some FA. But Gar has to go. Pax has to go, and Fred is just not respected. He has to go as well. Gar isn't going to interest FAs since the money is about the same, and it's easier to attract players in Miami and LA in the winter. Chicago is not all that great of place to hang during basketball season.

QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 02:33 PM) Going off on a bit of tangent here, the FO got credit for drafting well when we got great value from Butler, Taj, and to some extent Noah. But those guys were drafted over half a decade ago. Portis, Valentine, Niko, Doug, Snell, and Teague have all been disappointments, the last draftee to really exceed expectation was Jimmy. When you don't draft well, you couldn't sign free agents, and you don't capitalize via trades, it's easy to see why we're in a predicament with one star and a deteriorating core. Yep, this FO blows. http://www.blogabull.com/2015/5/18/8610703...-matt-lloyd-and

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 07:40 PM) They haven't had a single loss, yet. A couple of years of that will get the pitchforks back out. Not only that, every one of these prospects is still going to be great. At best, the prospect people will be just as happy a year from now when they all live up to their billing. If one or more falls apart, look out. -
So no Americans have been killed on US soil by any citizen of the countries on Trump's list from 1975-2015. What they do lack is Trump business ties.

So Wade and Jimmy are 5-23 for 10 points and 6 turnovers through 3 quarters. They must not care about winning enough.

So Law has never seen Tatis play. I would imagine it is the same with many he has ranked. Why is everyone so enamoured with his rankings?
