  1. He did play a little 3rd. Can he be worse with the glove than Gilaspie?
  2. QUOTE (Sox Fan In Husker Land @ Nov 8, 2015 -> 08:43 AM) It is a vague rule left open to interpretation. Is it how we wanted to win, no. But we will take the W. I think a packed stadium in Lincoln should get the credit for that call. If they were in East Lansing or there were 25k in the crowd, I bet they call it differently.
  3. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Nov 8, 2015 -> 08:31 AM) He will be back. He is heading down to Boca for the GM meetings this week. He is bringing his resume and participation trophy from a 40 and over league he played in hoping to land a job.
  4. QUOTE (Sox Fan In Husker Land @ Nov 8, 2015 -> 08:21 AM) The guy who tweeted it works for ESPN, not myself. He tweeted it after he talked to the ESPN rules expert. All of college football officials suck, not just the ACC. The official correctly threw his hat, signaling that Reilly went out of bounds. He came back in and caught it and scored a touchdown. After conferring with the other officials to get the call made they said that the Michigan St. DB had made contact with Reilly. By the rule he doesn't have to be shoved out, just contact made. Therefore by the rule he is able to catch the ball with no penalty after reestablishing himself in bounds. It maybe a very dumb rule open to a lot of interpretation, but it was technically the correct call. The DB did NOT shove him forcefully out of bounds, but there is contact. Eligibility Lost by Going Out of Bounds ARTICLE 4. No eligible offensive receiver who goes out of bounds and returns in bounds during a down shall touch a legal forward pass while in the field of play or end zones or while airborne until it has been touched by an opponent or official (A.R. 7-3-4-I, II and IV). [Exception: This does not apply to an originally eligible offensive player who immediately returns inbounds after going out of bounds due to contact by an opponent (A.R. 7-3-4-III)]. If he touches the pass before returning in bounds, it is an incomplete pass (Rule 7-3-7) and not a foul for illegal touching. Mike Pereira chimes in More from Pereira Pereira Pereira again But then again what does Pereira know. Looking at your video, some officials should never call a college game again. Nebraska was due for a break, but watching it again makes it an even more ridiculous call. There is a ton on the line for MSU, and having it blow up with that.....I agree with whoever stated it earlier, there should not be limitations when looking at replay. Replay should be used to get the call right, and that wasn't right. on the other hand had MSU not used a TO when the were on defense seemingly because they just had them remaining, they might have been able to get a FG and continue Nebraska's nightmare of last second losses.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 8, 2015 -> 06:48 AM) It was and it didn't seem like they took very long to review it nor had a good camera angle to do so, unless they had closer shots than what we were shown at home. Since there apparently was contact, enough to push the receiver out of bounds, it makes me wonder why the official didn't throw a flag. That is a definite penalty. Granted it would have been declined, but the lack of a flag indicates to me no one was forced out. What a brutal call.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 10:27 PM) I will return when one of Hahn, KW or Ventura is gone. Maybe both. At any rate, it has been fun...there are a lot of cool White Sox fans here. Bye.
  7. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 10:21 PM) Rick Hahn is a bad GM because he wasn't a a varsity starter in high school! Makes sense! 2010 Hahn ranked #1 in Baeseball America's rankings of future GMs In 2011 Hahn was also ranked the #1 future GM in a poll of baseball execs. They obviously forgot to check his high school stats
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 08:06 PM) You notice that he doesn't have a response. When the White Sox make draft mistakes, they're continually forced to bring in free agents that they can't afford to make mistakes on. Those mistakes fester and they're unable to dump them and move on, so the cycle repeats. I'll just state this. The White Sox while KW and Rick Hahn are both forced to work together won't reach the playoffs...especially with Ventura as manager. The won a World Series working together. You really have no idea what you are writing,
  9. Robin Ventura started for about 15 years in the major leagues, was called the player of the century in college. I imagine he was pretty good in high school, yet Caulfield thinks he knows nothing about baseball. Has mentioned his lack of experience many times. Caulfield, the guy who used to clean up sunflower seeds for a minor league team. How was Dan Fabian in HS?
  10. Bulls just tied the NBA record for fewest points in an OT
  11. Does Taj ever give the ball up if he is near the paint?
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 06:31 PM) Because they have to wait and see what other teams are offering first, and then make a counterproposal. Would it be better if they announced today they are willing to offer $60-75 million for three years with an option for Year 4 and/or performance based option based on some agreed upon set of statistical benchmarks? They want to keep both Gordon and Zobrist, which won't be easy. I think not announcing to the media their negotiation strategy for one specific player is different from Hahn and KW not being on the same page about what to do. Really when they had exclusive negotiating rights? Certainly doesn't seem like a hometown discount is in order. Maybe he is remember how they f***ed with him early in his career. You don't have to announce anything to the media but to say you have no idea what they are going to offer? Considering you ripped KW for making a similar statement about the White Sox off season direction, I am stunned you wouldn't find it as a sign the team is unprepared. I will give you credit. Your posts make me laugh with all of their unintended silliness. Maybe the next time the White Sox are in the market for a GM, they could hold some sort of combine. Get some 40 times, see how many times they can bench 200. I never knew until today, athletic ability is a quality a good GM should probably have. Would you happen to know Dan Fabians vertical?
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 06:12 PM) http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/white-...ball-operations He's smarter in terms of baseball knowledge (more years around the game and just sports in general) and a better person without any of the hubris/baggage we get with KW and Hahn trying to work together. As long as KW is here, the relationship with Hahn will continue to be dysfunctional. You didn't even know he existed a year ago, now he knows so much. Well the good news is he is involved in just about every acquisition. In fact, your link I believe is the exact link I posted when you went on your the White Sox don't use advanced stats bender. How come you didn't say he should be GM then? Oh, BTW, David Glass said the Royals have no idea what they are going to offer Alex Gordon. How th f*** could they have no idea what they ar going to offer him at this point?
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 05:41 PM) No, I said they don't incorporate them into all aspects of operations...not unlike the Scioscia/Dipoto argument in LA. Ventura and KW certainly have access to them, but it's not THE guiding principal of the organization, especially in terms of integrating their use into onfield decisions. One area they have literally shifted has been with shifts...being in the bottom ten teams through 2013 and making the biggest jump up of any team in the majors in 2014. By the way, what evidence do you have from conversations with KW, Bell, Hahn and Hostetler they use them for scouting and evaluation? Did Laumann use them? Was he fired for not using them? We all know how old school Bell is, and KW's cut from the same cloth. The irony is both the Braves (Schuerholz/Moore/presumably Nick Hostetler) have always prided themselves on scouting and using their gut instincts perhaps more than any team in the majors over the last 20-30 years. BS. I love how you think you know the pulse of the White Sox organization. Just because it isn't reported on kansascity.com doesn't mean it doesn't occur. And Laumann wasn't fired, he took another job in the organization. It is a semi retirement, and before you go all JR loyalty, just look at the drafts between 2010-2015 of the White Sox and the greatest most perfect organization ever. I urge everyone who reads this thread to look at them. The White Sox drafted players are far better than what your Royals drafted. The Royals better fire someone. Dayton Moore scouting genius thought Christain Colon was a better idea than Chris Sale, thought Bubba Starling was a better idea than Sonny Gray, thought Kyle Zimmer was a better idea than Francisco Lindor.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 05:12 PM) He's our Luhnow/Megdal. Very experienced with advanced statistical analysis (he's the one who created our in-house proprietary database), but he also has a strong background behind the scenes in scouting and evaluation. He's just not a self-promoter, seems like a very humble guy...works well with others behind the scenes to build consensus. I don't have time to pull all of his interviews and write-ups, but he's impressive. LMAO. He has been around forever. i mentioned Dan Fabian many moons ago when you were ranting about how the White Sox don't use advanced metrics. I am glad you learned something.
  16. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 01:27 PM) so instead of trying to disprove this particular statement and post, you are trying to disprove him completely. many on this site has made some bad calls but lets not try to dig up all those. how many have you made??? The problem is to Caulfield and a few others, the White Sox are to them what Obama is to Fox News. It doesn't matter what they do. If they do something it is automatically wrong. Just keep in mind, eceryone makes mistakes. I don't know if Hahn is a good evaluator or not, but he did get most of the credit for the Jose Quintana signing. We will see. The trades he has made so,e have been good, some bad. Most of his signings haven't worked out. Maybe a couple of them still might. But there isn't. A GM in baseball that hasn't made some moves he would like to have back.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 12:31 PM) And what has Hahn done as either an athlete or talent evaluator that makes you feel 100% confident he's the right person to be making these decisions? Other than the Abreu signing, which we always hear was mostly attributable to KW and Paddy's efforts... Bruce Jenner won the decathlon almost 40 years ago. He was considered the greatest athlete in the world. Now that he has transitioned into Caityn, maybe he would like to give being a baseball GM a try. He really impressed the world,as an athlete.
  18. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 01:06 PM) You're probably one of the people in denial about Montas likely being ticketed to the bullpen in the near future aren't you? Mella has had rotator cuff issues. He throws 96, Montas throws 100. I will take the pick and the $2 million in additional pool money. BPs write up on Mella last year said medicals and mechanics would make him a reliever.
  19. What the White Sox need to do is go crazy during the Latin signing period. Any team that rebuilds through the draft will need a long time and some big breaks. The Cubs don't have a bunch of their draft picks on the field. KC with all their top 5 picks the last 10-12 years didn't have a huge amount of their draft picks on the field. A case could be made that the White Sox actually had a better draft than KC each of the past 6 years. They need to get a big influx of international guys. Pay the penalty over paying a Howie Kendrick. Through the draft you get one first round pick a year. Taking the penalty internationally you can get 2 or 3 .
  20. And before anyone says that's another reason they should have traded Samardzija, just remember he was so bad the second half, a replacement probably gets the White Sox an extra win or 2, which would have meant an unprotected pick at 11.
  21. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 09:04 AM) The rules say that you'd forfeit your next pick if your 1st is protected. The "sandwich" picks can't be lost though. I'm almost sure of it. Seattle lost their comp pick when they signed Robinson Cano. Edit, they didn't because no one signed Morales in time, but the Yankees lost comp picks for Cano and Granderson that year signing free agents. So they would lose that pick first. I don't think they will be signing those guys anyway.
  22. It appears his wife will get his full pension, not one that would have been enhanced had he actually been killed in the line of duty. For him to have lost his pension, he would have had to have been convicted of the felonies he allegedly committed. Then they just would have paid him back what he put into the fund interest free. Since he is dead, he won't face s trial so he is innocent, and even if the wife gets convicted of a felony related to all of this, she will get his full benefit.
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 07:48 AM) Ben Carson claimed in writing that he was offered and turned down a full scholarship to West point. There is no record of this ever happening. Compare it to his multiple other crazy personal lies and it seems like he's a serial liar who needs to puff up his own story And he is using the "I don't really remember the details" route, yet his campaign manager seems to be spinning all of the details. He's about done.
  24. This is hilarious, thanks Obama. http://www.esquire.com/news-politics/video...rs-jobs-report/
