  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2017 -> 10:36 AM) Mitchell Armentrout‏Verified account @mitchtrout 12h12 hours ago Bears, Bulls, Hawks and Sox slam Emanuel's tax hike for large concerts http://bit.ly/2xLZYR7 via @suntimes How does this even impact the White Sox and Bears?
  2. While the cub pen without Davis is not pretty, the guys out there have experience so you roll with it and hope for the best. Also every one of the Dodgers pitchers can be hit hard. While Kershaw is an ace, the playoffs do not reflect this as much as you would think. Hill and Darvish are nice pitchers but by no means do they have a history of dominating a team. The cubs need to hit, if they do not it's over tonight. They have pieces to plug in and roll with, the Dodgers do not. You are relying on Bryant and Rizzo to hit not Granderson and Utley. I like Quintana/Lester/Hendricks over Kershaw/Hill/Darvish in a best of three. Problem is, cubs need a sweep. They have shown resiliency in the past. The issue tonight, Quintana can be pitching well and still not get out of the 6th inning......they can go to Lester for a couple tonight and even to close the game then he can still go Saturday. A cub win tonight and all bets are off.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 10:29 AM) The catch is the player that comes off of the roster can't be on the WS roster either. What does Utley bring to the table?
  4. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 06:14 AM) That may be the case here, but even before the trade Robertson was having a very good year with a ridiculous K% and only a single BS. He was definitely a top 10 closer at that point. Based on how much dominant relievers have gone for the past few years, most thought he himself would command a T100 prospect in return. If Yanks or Dodgers is able to win this year with their great bullpen, we should only expect shut down reliever prices to go up in free agency and especially trade market. I would have thought after last year that would have been the case this year.
  5. QUOTE (Tony @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 01:26 AM) I believe if they take someone else off the roster with an injury, Seager can be added back. Earlier in this thread it said he could replace an injured player but then said replaced player would not be allowed on to a world series roster. Utley, Granderson and 3 catchers makes for an poorly constructed roster. Granderson is terrible.
  6. Hopefully Seager replaces one of them as early as tomorrow.
  7. I need to beat this dead horse some more but granderson has no business in this lineup nor does utley what a terrible decision that likely cost them the game. The old lefties rightie splits.
  8. Dodgers with the crappy vets in lineup was a poor decision
  9. I watched Halt and Catch Fire over the summer and this final season. Gotta say the show actually developed over the four years that it was on very well. It was the tech age version of Mad Men and stayed with the premise throughout.
  10. Astros and cubs should have got in the running for White Sox bullpen.
  11. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 17, 2017 -> 09:17 AM) I'm 100% for expansion -- it drives new fan engagement and is a fascinating process to follow for fans of all teams. The draft would be fun, even though we'd lose players, and dilution of talent creates more opportunities for everyone while making stars even more valuable. Wins all around. However, the BA proposal is a little aggressive for me. Realignment is whatever, and I could probably get over the league-lessness although I think too many others couldn't -- but reducing the number of games (even though it's probably better for everyone involved) is too hard to swallow for me because it instantly ruins the record book. Everything will always be a pre-realignment or post-realignment record, and that is just annoying. Steroid numbers kind of ended that for me
  12. I like it but I still think you need the National and American league.
  13. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 10:50 PM) Can anyone tell me why Happ came in on defense for Heyward? Happ didn't bat for Heyward prior to that change, right? As much as I was hoping Taylor hit a grand slam, just as satisfying would have been a 3-run triple because Happ screwed up a flyball that Heyward would have caught. Double switch when Davis went in to pitch, Happ went into RF. If Davis got out of it Happ hits in 8th and Davis can pitch the 9th.
  14. This morning the Nats were +160 now it is a pick em
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 10:49 AM) With Jackson’s college injury history, have to say I’m not a fan of him returning kicks And the fact he looks like a keeper in the defensive secondary...just put a guy back there to catch the ball and go down.
  16. Sounded like none of this was Nats fault and all about Strasburg and his agent making certain Strasburg is number 1 priority. Then there is Max who will throw 100 pitches today if needed...although he already got paid.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 09:11 AM) Will they even get this game in? Still raining here in northbrook. Going to stop around 1 they'll be fine.
  18. If Strasberg does not start he will not be boarding the plane home. Gio should be ready to go today as well. The handling of pitchers by that organization is an epic failure if they do not win this series. How many things are just handed to the cubs. This is almost as bad as Francona wasting Salazar in game 6 last year and not starting him in game 7 last year.
  19. The fact that the Boston game time, which started at noon yesterday was not announced until midnight (less than 12 hours prior to first pitch) shows you just how the networks run sports. That was absurd. No way in hell this is rained out.
  20. This whole series is predicated on the fact the Nationals offense has been abysmal. Trea Turner is terrible. If Wade Davis pitches the 8th and 9th of game 2, the series is over with the Nats scoring 3 runs in the series. I think the cub rout them today. Jake goes 5 and the bullpen ends it. If Strasberg leaves via free agency, the sad window of the Nats closes with very bland results.
  21. The White Sox impact on these playoffs is something. They allowed the Yankees and cubs to have a shot.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 12:18 PM) I keep wondering when I am going to see the mention of Cuba attacking our embassy? That really is not a story for some reason.
