  1. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 13, 2018 -> 09:14 AM) Yeah our only one that we have to fallback on currently is Sale. Not sure that makes it our "bread and butter" at the moment. Quintana seemed to be developed rather nicely
  2. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Feb 9, 2018 -> 06:38 AM) The NFL forgets quickly if you have talent. I hate the guy and never want him near the Bears but in a couple years if he's not with the Pats someone will give him a job. I mean even Aaron Kromer has a job after punching a kid and he has way less talent than McDaniels. He'll always have a job but head coach may be tough. Denver and Tennessee were not great and now the colts gig....lot of smoke there
  3. The time difference is actually so off it works.....kind of. Watched mixed doubles curling last night.....live at 11pm....USA s*** the bed.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 8, 2018 -> 10:05 AM) I think you're seriously underestimating McDaniels here. Tribune had a nice story of the Nagy, Pace, Ballard and McDaniels timelines and hiring. Gave praise to Phillips and McCaskey being involved in process wheich led to the quick higher. I know it's hindsigt but it seemed Pace felt McDaniels was not certain of leaving the Patriots.
  5. QUOTE (SmashROT @ Feb 7, 2018 -> 06:11 PM) WGN seems like it's made a big push towards sports lately anyways. I'm sure we'll get plenty of Sox talk during non-game hours in the summer. WGN TV is almost 100% news content. They no longer carry the WB programming. I wonder if they are moving toward a more predominant news/sports network.
  6. I know this was in the the 2017 thread but I like that Brad Childress has an office in Halas Hall.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 5, 2018 -> 09:24 AM) JT has a good backlog, which made it seem okay, but the way they cut up those songs was terrible, so much pumped through each song you couldn't make out what the hell was happening. That's what I thought. The people I was with thought it was good but I just assumed I was out of touch. Seemed like the songs were chaotically thrown together. The game was great. Brady Is the GOAT. After Seattle and Atlanta melting away against he Patriots , I liked that the Eagles won. Has there been any explanation as to why Butler was benched?
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 11:19 AM) That's kinda where I'm at too. The idea is great in theory, but the Dodgers or Yankees would need to move so much salary to us for it to make sense that they're not going to give up the prospect we want. If the Yankees wanted us to take on all Ellsbury's remaining deal, that is $69 million. He's not a worthless player, but he's basically worthless to us, the only reason we would do that is to get the prospect. If Robert is a $50 million cost, name a player on the Yankees org worth more than that and you get to "guys they won't give up". It might make more sense for the Dodgers, but the Dodgers don't have the right caliber of prospects in their system to pull this off save one or two guys. The question is, does the prospect that's getting moved equate to the tax savings and the FA signing.
  9. QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 09:19 AM) Only because he was traded for a future HOF'er. If Tatis goes to the HOF, then it will be. Hence my use of the words could and potentially.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 08:00 AM) Please let’s rehash 10 year old trades sounds fun The Tatis trade could be rehashed for the next 20 to 50 years potentially. Ernie Broglio is still a known commodity over 50 years later.
  11. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 01:12 AM) Pegged it at an 85% chance they get Archer too. That's bold to do both
  12. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Feb 1, 2018 -> 12:44 PM) I'm inclined to agree. RoLo might be good for Cleveland but the Nets pick isn't going to come back for that. RoLo, Pelicans first and some Cavs salary?
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 1, 2018 -> 09:56 AM) MLB Network‏Verified account @MLBNetwork 13m13 minutes ago Our @Ken_Rosenthal is reporting the #Brewers have had recent contact with the #Rays regarding a possible deal for Chris Archer. #MLBNHotStove cubs have to then certainly sign Darvish or Arrieta or maybe this is ploy to get one of them to sign with the Brewers
  14. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Feb 1, 2018 -> 10:01 AM) Apparently LeBron would consider Golden State as a landing spot in free agency. Of course he would. But I can't picture a way in which the league and the PA would allow for this to happen, as the deal would be predicated on one party taking a pay cut. That would be awesome.
  15. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Feb 1, 2018 -> 08:40 AM) He had 2 saves last year for the Phillies. He'll be 30 this month. Not if he was born 10/2/88 A friend of my from Philly saw him pitch said he was a closer there a few years back.
  16. QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Jan 30, 2018 -> 02:40 PM) What? Soler was on the Royals last season. EDIT: Are you referring to him being traded for Wade Davis? Yes he still had plenty of value as a young oft injured player.
  17. QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Jan 30, 2018 -> 02:12 PM) Honestly, I think the Sox now probably rank 5th in Baseball in future talent. I'd take the Braves, Yankees, Padres and Phillies ahead of the Sox. With the Yankees and Phillies, they have young talent that has already proven itself to have at the very least one good season in the Majors, and I also think the Braves and Padres have a deeper farm system. The Sox prospects, overall, probably have the most high-end potential but it is fairly concentrated. What happens if two of Moncada, Kopech, Jimenez and Robert don't turn out to be the players we thought they'd be? Then what? I think the other teams have a bigger buffer to their players, while the Sox probably have a ceiling of a 78 win team if the "big boys" don't turn into superstars. Everyone points to the Cubs and Astros, but they have had at least 1-2 high profile busts-Appel and Singleton with the Astros, and Soler and Schwarber haven't been the studs that Cub fans thought they'd be. The Sox can't survive that kind of setback. Their potential stars actually have to be stars otherwise they're f***ed. Without Soler they don't make the playoffs last year.
  18. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jan 30, 2018 -> 02:27 PM) Just saw this today, take it for whatever it's worth to you: "WGN Radio will sign the team but Ed Farmer cannot be involved with the game broadcast and JR is balking but he also has no place to go. WMVP has no interest at all." It would be supremely ironic if WGN after having and promoting the Cubs all those years now becomes the White Sox station. Wait why can't Ed Farmer be involved?
  19. WGN probably looking for spring time programming as hockey should be done at regular season's end. Oddly if the White Sox rebuild takes hold and the Hawks slide a bit, it would work out well for WGN.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 26, 2018 -> 04:13 PM) https://t.co/32lZfEhEka Glad this was done. Agreed
  21. If this is as messed up as the last few posts look, shouldn't the whole damn sports program be either cleaned out or shut down?
  22. Braun at 1B makes a ton of sense as he always seemed to be injured.
  23. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 26, 2018 -> 12:05 PM) Like I said above, maybe they think Cain is a better investment at $18m/yr than Arrieta or Darvish at $25m/yr over the same amount of time. I agree if either of those two get $25M a year.
  24. I wandered around and drank beer. Would get autographs from those guys that had little waits. Seminars were cool and the KW Q& A was always gold. Kind of a nice break to winter.
