  1. If the cubs trade heyward, almora, schwarber and a top prospect for cueto and sign harper i think tjey become hamstrung in a couple years and also have no outfield unless they sign pollock. Im not sure they are better.
  2. If they fail to hit on this we will get to be reminded of this all summer via yonder Alonzo. If he was a pawn to get Machado you make this move afterward not beforehand. That is rubbing salt in the fans wounds and along the lines of the terrible shields trade in showing maybe this organization is just as bad as the media is portraying and sadly I am fading in that direction.
  3. Dodgers got some good prospects and in 12 months none of those 3 were Resigning with the Dodgers. Money had little to do with that trade it was giving up 3 guys to open spots for guys and adding to the farm at the same time.
  4. This drives up white sox and Phillies offers if Yankees have tapped out well below the other two offers.
  5. Does moving multiple pieces to get Harper really make them better.....I guess if it helps them land Bryant. Where the Sox and Phillies look sad is going through the gyrations for both guys to be told they were never in the running for each which seems to be the national narrative all along for Sox. Not sure how or if that changes but the white sox are now the Bulls.
  6. Arent the cubs selling off small parts of team ownership to pay the bills.....there is a lot of debt there.
  7. Thing with yanks Dodgers and Cubs and the big 2 is that signing either puts them in luxury tax situation for remainder of contract especially yanks and Cubs as all the young talent will need to be paid soon. Sure cub will drop a Lester and hamels but that money goes to retain current talent or sign a replacement.
  8. The White Sox wouldn't have had to give up anyone to get puig wood and kemp.
  9. I agree with all of this but I also have to think that the Sox feel this way as well but maybe there really is no market out there for crazy money except for the White Sox and Phillies. If Harper turned down the Nats deal the Sox knwo what it will take. These deals are not a jump in because of a depressed market. The Padres may hop in for a $200M deal but if it's over $250M you don't just then join in because it's a deal.
  10. I personally think that the Harper deal is based on Machado signing and he wants to beat that. I think the Sox and Harper were always on the same page and the Machado interaction was a plan B. I think if the cubs or Dodgers open up salary he would prefer there. Finally, I think Harper is a better long term fit that cares about his performance and I think Machado is a a average player by age 30 and ages rather poorly.
  11. The hotfire dude and peavy are trolls who have lurked for years and are now just hanging around hoping the Sox get neither. After this whole thing is over we won't hear from them again until the cubs make some noise in some regard or the Sox negatively do. Sad people buy into their BS and let it affect them.
  12. This whole thing comes down to the fact that if the White Sox want either the understanding needs to be that the contract will be a terrible one from Day 1 if they think they are on even footing with anyone except maybe the Phillies they should never have stepped into the ring.
  13. The Chiefs don't have he Bears defense see the Rams game. The Bears will win because the defense wins it. If the offense has to it will be a debacle.
  14. Going south you can see if it's on and oddly enough it is on quite often.
  15. Still for the life of me cannot figure out why people feel the need to express their inner thoughts on Twitter or any social media.
  16. The dude that sat in Reinsdorf's office and he, JR and Frank Thomas were the only three people that ever saw Frank Thomas contract was the king of ESPN board and then Soxtalk. I was off the board for a couple of months when I had a different job and when I got back he was gone. Never really got the epic story of his being run out of town.
  17. Of course they will if he plays well and they win
  18. If he really wanted to play for the Yankees he would not have spent 2 days in Chicago the week before Christmas. If it were a due diligence meeting it would have been a couple of hours. I think the meetings were this week to let some time pass after the playoffs and feel some things out during the winter meetings. MY guess is there was contact the previous few weeks with the agents. If neither Harper or Macado wanted to play for the White Sox they would not be wasting all their time meeting with them just to try and raise the offer from the other teams they wanted to play for. The due diligence is to sit and spend a couple hours maybe three and be done with it, give us some numbers and leave town.
  19. I want the Phillies to get Machado and the Dodgers to get Harper if both or neither go to the White Sox. As should every other fan of the future of the White Sox.
  20. So Amos, Prince and Goldman didn't make it and arguably could have. The thing about the Bears is they basically play a 2-4-5 defense with only two lineman because Goldman and Hicks along with the ILB are so damn good in the middle.
  21. That is becoming more and more common and became chic with OPRF wrestling and then HF girls basketball. Love the Kankakee kid going to Hillcrest...I can't figure that one out. I am a catholic school guy so I do understand about recruiting but there are travel and financial hurdles to the catholic schools, I know families get some financial relief but they still pay something.
  22. If the Sox sign Machado I think they offer Harper something like 10/300 and I think Harper just goes back to Washington and signs for the proposed deal which I think was 10/286. Looking at it more i just don't see the Sox offering both guys so much more than others that were these more attractive destinations.
  23. Maybe the Sox and the cubs TV deals are looking like two totally different impacts to the teams bottom line. Not that the cubs deal won't be lucrative but the sox/hawks/bulls and bears coverage v cubs and bears CSN type coverage isn't as lucrative.
