  1. GS should trade Bell to the Bulls for cash considerations and then do the buy out.
  2. Someone explain how the Passan/Gomez/Stadium thing hurts the Sox. If that offer is not on the table and much larger than the Sox actual offer isn't in the Sox favor? If a team beats that offer they will certainly beat a 7/$230 offer.
  3. Here is where both camps seemed to maybe misread something...we shall see... the luxury tax has taken the big guys out (assuming yanks, nats, dodgers, and cubs are in fact out) then there are the rebuilders that aren't looking to take on these guys at this time. Then there is the fact there are two of them available. If one guy is out there then you can bid and drive up price with two not so much. Teams like the Cardinals, Padres, that may have been involved but were not interested at $300M may circle back as could the luxury tax folks if (1) Harper had no deal on the table and (2) Machado's deal was sitting at 7/$210M until it was more recently driven up. The Sox seem to have put something out there on each and teams just are not driving the price up. If the Sox now determine that the process is not working for them and pull out on both, the market tumbles for both and maybe that is where the process could head.
  4. And what if he pitches 30 innings with a 4.50 ERA out of the pen?
  5. The whole take away for me on this whole thing is I think the Sox have a fair offer in table and neither guy likes it and both players are hoping somebody beats it.....nobody is currently but they are holding out hope somebody pops up to do so. The Sox are being used but they also are not dropping the hammer to close the deal. Personally the Macado buddy signings are what irritate me as neither player was needed but there they are.....lock machado up then get both....at this point i personally am of mind to say F Machado.
  6. Manny is with his pals for one year that's all. This whole thing is dragging on because the Sox are not forcing the issue hope it works in their favor.
  7. If the YES Network put that out with Manny in a Yankee uniform we would close the thread and burn the place down.
  8. In the 3 Machado threads this winter there are over 7,300 replies and that does not include the mixed Harper/Machado thread....I'm bored at work
  9. How does Machado getting $260 and Harper getting $340 play out in the clubhouse? I am thinking not well.
  10. Basically odowd and host think he is going to white sox billy ripken couldn't get off idea that Machado wants to win......everyone agreed Indian window is closing host, name is escaping me, pointed out he was on a terrible team last two years and sox are showing the most love feeling was sox get Machado phils get Harper
  11. MLBN all over speculation of Manny to White Sox
  12. Alanso and Jay are decent players that will help the Sox but there are plenty of other guys out there that could do the same thing. To be reminded daily of this failure if they do not sign either will be a huge blow to me as a fan. That is my only hope in thinking that if the Yankees wanted him he'd be there and the Sox are certain they will go as far as they need to to get him.
  13. I said yesterday that the new Bears DC will be a HC in two years. I liked Vic but his defense got better as his personnel got better. He does know what he is doing and will be missed but i think he can also be easily replaced as there are plenty of DC options out there.
  14. My hot take is that the Yankees were used to drive the price of Machado up for the White Sox and now Boras is using the Nats to drive up the price of Harper. All the big money guys will stay in touch until the price gets to high. You think the Yanks, Nats, cubs or Dodgers would be on the outside if these guys were going to sign for 7/$210???? My take on Harper is he wanted the cubs the cubs wanted him in the late fall........the cubs could not clear enough salary and when the rumor that there were limited suitors and a lower then expected price tag, the cubs interest popped up and they tried, unsuccessfully to cut their payroll...maybe they are still trying and if so he will go there. I just don't see this being dragged out like this if the Yanks, cubs or other prominent team had a decent offer on the table. Both guys are hoping the Sox, Phils and Nats bid against themselves.
  15. WSCR had a reporter on this morning from New York and he kind of said it best. Both of these organizations are pretty buttoned up and nobody really knows what each front office is doing. Yankee fans want Machado but as he pointed out for the last three years they were getting Harper now they are getting Machado. His sources said the yanks would not go over $270M but he felt that was more then they actually would. He really had no idea where Machado would go.
  16. I love Vic as a DC but as a HC this screams Dick LaBeau. Also any coach in their right mind takes the Bears DC job and they get a HC job in a year or two if the Bears D stays healthy.
  17. I think the Bears will have about $20M to sign their draft picks and fee agents next year the only notable free agents are Massie, Amos and Callahan. Looks like a rather quiet off season for the Bears. Only news will be Fangio.
  18. Parkey missed too many kicks throughout the season. He simply is not good at his job and that is why he should be blamed and needs to be replaced. Without two high draft picks, the Bears should have some space especially with White coming off the books. The defense was good yesterday and the late punt was what cost them at the end. I think they really missed Eddie Jackson. Both O'Donnell and the defense get the benefit of the doubt although having 12 on the field and 10 on the field for a play is pretty bush league. Trubisky was good at the end and there are definitely signs that the arrow is going up there. The cuteness of the 2 pt conversions and those inside shovel passes annoy the hell out of me. Nagy was great as a first year coach and lets hope he gets better next year. How the special teams coach gets a look at a head coaching shot is odd to me as I thought the Bears special teams outside of Parkey were still pretty bad.
  19. I'm sure that is why neither have signed. The agents are addressing this with every team in the MLB at this point.
  20. I think trout leaves because the Angels are stuck in neutral and he should be the MLB poster boy and NY or Philly may give him that.
  21. Every team in MLB would do that in the blink of an eye.
  22. The Cubs want Harper and Harper needs the Cubs because there is no market for him. Mitch and Tom are spot on and if the Cubs can make deals they will get him. I don't need a source or anything to know this, it's common sense. The Cubs need this info out there to stay in media spotlight this off season and boras needs them as the boogeyman to the phils and sox. My guess is the Nats made an offer in October and it's still floating out there until it is determined that the cub can't launder enough money through dumb GMs to sign him. Not sure Harper wants to stay in DC but don't think he wants to play for Sox or other current suitors either. This isn't rumor or speculation it's just common sense. if phils or sox blow DC offer away they may get him....cub only needs to be in ballpark
