  1. That is only a 5 year period. It's not like it is saying 15 wins is the most by a coach since Ditka. Kind of a pointless stat.
  2. Pirates actually won three in a row and the Sox win 2 v the Indians....ugh
  3. Giolito saves Cooper Anderson and Moncado the rest of them
  4. I said this in another thread and will say it here as I had in the past. I get nothing financially out of my team's success. All I want is the daily enjoyment of a winning baseball team. After the first game of 2006, 2005 was done. I hope my daily enthusiasm for the White Sox and knowing every day when and where they are playing and getting out to the park is a priority that returns as it has not been there for a number of years. I'd take 6 - 10 years of playoff success over one world series. I agree with the Sox rebuild btw. Now, if the cubs don't make the playoffs again and the Dodgers win the next 10 NL west titles, which run of success as a fan to enjoy more.
  5. So Kenny Williams is a better GM than Billy Beane? I am of the mindest I want my team to be an option for entertainment every day not one year out of 20. As a person who gets zero financial benefit for the White Sox, I would take 10 division titles over a world championship and then twenty years of nothing. As a fan looking to sit and watch one team daily, I'd take the Dodgers during Theo's tenure than the cubs. i got zero enjoyment out of the 2005 White Sox after the first game of the 2006 season.
  6. Pretty simple, because hockey is not football, basketball or baseball. People will follow the Blackhawks if they are winning. If they are not winning nobody cares about them. If the Chicago Sky won every WNBA since it's inception or the Fire won the MLS, neither would be close to gaining any more relevance in the city.
  7. Everything being equal (no fan support, stadium neighborhood, owner, etc) pure talent, likability and long term trajectory, the Sox look like the better team. Now the cub can go sign Castelleanos (sp?) and Cole and the Sox can miss on Wheeler and we are one step forward, two steps back. Robert, Madrigal, Cease, Dunning, Kopech, Jimenez, Moncada, Giolito.......that's something to build on I thought missing on Machado and Harper hurt but now go win this off season.
  8. The silver lining in this whole thing is that if he does get healthy he still has two years in the minors and then slides in as a cheap option. I look at him as an additional first round pick in 2020. Sucks for him and he will be older if he makes it but that is all we can hope for. He was an advanced bat when they drafted him so hopefully he is a quick mover.
  9. The fact he has never pitched 200 innings and only pitched into the 8th inning once this year were numbers that stuck out to me. He was an MVP candidate in 2016. I did not realize he was that good. He is a good pitcher but with the aging of that staff he needed to be better.
  10. This year I would say he has been. Some great games and some where he was hit very hard. He has averaged just under 6 innings per start for the year. I'm not saying he is not an option. He's not White Sox starter erratic.
  11. Their problem is not developing pitching. Everything went right in 2016 for them as Arrieta came out of nowhere and was unhittable and Lester was at the top of his game. They gambled on Hamels and Lester this year and lost. Quintana and Hendricks are erratic. Darvish was a bright spot. The cubs have a lot of random pieces and now their core is going to be expensive. Wonder if Theo would go back to Boston?
  12. i wish yelich was healthy......1969 cubs i present to you the 2019 cubs
  13. Haskins started 14 games in college. Yes he put up big numbers but my guess is they want him to get acclimated. Let Keenum get beat up and let Haskins learn. There is no hurry in getting him out there.
  14. The O line cannot run block. That is the issue and has been for a while. Cohen and Patterson are not options between the tackles.
  15. I don't mind Maddon but I think in Chicago there will always be other outside noise with him and the cubs that would be a distraction.
  16. Check out the schedules Cards - cubs/dbacks/cubs last series at home Cubs - cards/pirates/cards last week on the road Brewers pirates-reds -rockies last week on the road Washington braves/phillies/indians all at home Washington is going to have to earn it, Brewers have all winnable games too bad Yelich is out. Cardinals have a nice lead but the schedule is tough although the D'backs have fallen back.
  17. I'll take Cole/Stras/Baum and Madrigal and $100M over Machado Machado was a bad contract from day one but the White Sox need to realize that, that is a part of the game. Bad contracts are a part of the deal.
  18. A super nice high school kid sold me a set of Cutco knives, they work and we needed them. I passed him on to two others who bought some stuff from him. We all knew the drill but he was a really nice kid. I hope he got a real job. I think I have essential oils burning in my house. I understand the model and stay away and my wife is too lazy to get on that train.
  19. Probably but will depend on how the other 8A schools do, they are usually on the border.
  20. Going against a guy that knew their offense rather well in Fangio and the air and heat in Denver played a role, I am just happy with the win. Fangio going for two actually cost them the game because I think the Bears play for OT if it is tied and that isn't ending well.
  21. Sadly i think Sanchez keeps the job through all of next year. The White Sox more than any other team in sports will stick with a lesser player because the chemistry he brings to the team/clubhouse is unparalleled in sport. Ricky can't go quick enough but I am sure he will be on the field in the Chevy drive up next spring.
  22. Sucks Yelich got hurt as the Brewers got some bullpen help back. All of a sudden AZ is struggling. That series in NY was huge in keeping cub afloat.
  23. Was in news last week that his LP home is on the market. Hoyer is a Theo puppet that handed him Rizzo I'm sure in Boston he will trade Betts for Horner, Happ and Schwarber
  24. Yelich done for the year just when the Brewers were getting their shit together...Go AZ
  25. Look at the DH and RF stats the last few years. Please this is a no brainer. The White Sox need professional hitters and can afford a bad three year contract.
