  1. That's only temporarily. I'd stay far away from Ryu and I think anyone that has to keep an eye on a budget will agree. He seems like a perfect Yankee, Giant or Dodger signing or even the cub.
  2. This is last off-season all over again just earlier. We get the Joc rumor and the leading candidate for a top free agent then everything fades away and the White Sox were at the table but in the end the cost was too much for their budget and philosophy. The White Sox are not in on Ryu, Cole or Stras. Carry on.
  3. He wasn't on the mound when they won. That will be the thing that surprises me forever. They are on a nice run but it will be interesting how it goes from here. If the White Sox don't change their stance on the international market this rebuild will be short lived.
  4. Don't they now have 2 spots open? Are they just making room prior to the winter meetings should something open up or other teams try and do the same thing the Sox are doing with their versions of Palka and what not.
  5. Dallas tried that last year. I am thinking the White Sox are going to overpay to end it early.
  6. Rice had some big plays early and was inside the 30 four times in the first half but couldn't capitalize. Dropped a lot of passes. They were getting open often downfield. The Warren DL was as good as I have seen and I have seen a lot of high school football. Warren had two big plays to make it 14-0 and the score to make it 14-0 took the air out of Rice. It really could have been 0-0 going into the 4th quarter. I will give Rice credit they played hard and made a game of it but seemed to have been worn down. Warren was the better team as was LWE v Marist. Greg the Naz QB has ties to Rice and if not for where the family lives he would be at RIce. The 7A and 8A will both be great games.
  7. Score is not indicative of game. For 3 quarters it was an awesome game. 8A is real football.
  8. This is an overpay and a JR loyalty move. If he sucks they release him there is no hit to salary cap or anything like that. I think there is more benefit to him being around than we know. Hoping extensions for Moncada and Robert are the result. A lot of yelling at the clouds the last two days with the White Sox actually spending money in these two threads. Both moves are solid baseball moves.
  9. All right Brian and Greg time to get it on. Rice and Marist over hauled their programs this year and are playing their best ball at the right time. I think they both met teams that are just deeper this week. I think Loyola was a tad over rated this year and both Rice and Marist got great draws. Warren and LWE will be a good one but if Marist and Rice pull it off, Greg you need to Uber to Reilly's Daughter as that will be the epicenter of something. MC and Rita should both be downstate as well. Rita in 5A is something as they should be much higher as they have zero kids playing both ways and every team they play has many. Would love to see them play MC or Naz.
  10. I am not really active but live in Beverly so I am around and follow CCL. Soph is really good athlete. He is smart kid that should do well. If they win, they are on the road the next week no matter what.
  11. When you and SS2K stopped posting the whole place kind of has
  12. Minooka is beatable. Should be an evenly matched game. MC coach has lost 2 games in two years I think so that change is not really insane. I get your point but they had a replacement right there for them Badke doesn't run the offense. There is an MC guy doing that now and they have great running backs similar to St Rita so go with what works. They have nice drives that can easily take 5 -7 mins off the clock..
  13. They should make it to DeKalb unless they have to go to Edwardsville in semis that is a long drive.
  14. They can beat SE, and potentially the next game. Warren is very very good especially on the defensive side of the ball. They have a nice draw that can make them look better than reality.
  15. He and the junior starters at Rita and MC all played together at Christina. The Rita guy was replaced week 9. Somers at Rice will play DB going forward. He is more of a baseball guy. Hes an ok QB but the soph is better. He wont transfer.
  16. Soph is the better QB...he also is TOR pitcher and PG in basketball. I think they were just looking to ease him in. High School RB that are mostly about speed are now moving to WR. Rice has a couple other guys that can be RB then Shaw is a combo. WR gets him outside and into easier. Also opens the box some for the QB who can run and other backs.
  17. Not sure i have looked more forward to a baseball game in a while. I don't really care who wins but I love watching Scherzer pitch and like Grienke. I think I am liking Soto more and more so I'd like to see the Nats win. But I dislike Rizoo so much. Just hope it is a good game.
  18. They want him to be a puppet for the front office.....is their front office that good?
  19. or Alec Thomas
  20. ya last week played first 4 were WA next 2 were BR
  21. I hear they look good. EdgyTim Warren poster let you know weekly. Not to be confused with guy gregg is talking about btw. Gregg, Rice looks ok. Lot of underclassmen but they should not have lost to Laurence or Providence at home. They can beat MC but are a one and done in playoffs if they go in 5-4 in 8A
  22. I like the fact they stuck with Davey Martinez and it worked out. I know nothing about Martinez but it's a good story that it is working out for them. Hopefully they can keep Rendon and Stras.
  23. Maybe teams will begin to go back to overpaying for bullpen arms at the deadline. A year or two too late for the White Sox. If the Nats had a bullpen they would be scary as hell. That was a great game.
  24. That whole game yesterday was bad and they deserved to lose but not realizing they may fake the punt is on the special teams coach.
  25. I don't think the national gigs pay as well as the local gigs for guys like him. Singleton left but there are numerous like Charlie Steiner and the guys in Baltimore and SF that were ESPN guys that left for local gigs that still do national stuff periodically like John Rooney and Benetti.
