  1. I think Donaldson's value is not what he thinks it is. The Bryant and Arenado situations probably have a greater impact as he is the third option and much lower than those two. The Bryant grievance is the largest holdup.
  2. Eloy is not going to preclude the White Sox from signing big money guys. Yoan, Gio and Anderson can cost the White Sox large sums of money as they have skill-sets that can cost a team an uncomfortable amount of money.
  3. With Loogy's becoming less of a things now, Gio can become quite valuable in that role as he can get RHH out as well. Same with Rodon if they are looking to ease him back in.
  4. Price/nice piece with no prospects worth anything Dallas Ryu Any will work and should be done. The longer the Sox don't force the issue the greater the thought Covey/Fullmer starts the 5th game of the season. I don't think any is ideal but something needs to be done to save face or it's 2 years of failure. Grandel was nice but that's all, it was nice.
  5. I didn't know he was not part of the organization. When was he let go? I assumed he was a bench guy or hurt at the end of the year...huh.
  6. The longer the smoke lingers the greater the chance somebody comes in and overpays. This off-season is playing out like last.
  7. Abreu to DH and Rendon to 1B. Rendon moves to 1B or DH at some point in his career, may as well be now. Leave Yoan at third
  8. To me this trade is a guy we know that can be a positive (not great but not embarrassing) MLB player as compared to the shit we have rolled out in RF recently. Anyone thinking Walker could be better than Mazara right now is being stupid. Walker will most likely never be better than Mazara and Mazara still has upside. This is so much like Avi's time with the White Sox and I think that is what people are seeing. Walker was not netting anything more than this on his own and if he was going to be included in a larger package Sheets or Rutherford will fit that spot. My hope is that this is opening the door on taking on money like in a Price deal. If our positional players and money is now set for the year, the White Sox should be able to take on some bad contracts for players that can had for pitching help (Price, Ryu, etc.) Who cares about Mazara's status in two years worst case scenario if he does well and walks they get the Walker draft pick back.
  9. Ryu couldn't stay healthy when he was young but somehow as he ages people think he will pitch more. I guess the hope is you can get 140 innings from him and they are at the right part of the season. It could work but i envision the same people wanting him b****ing that he is out next August for 6 weeks.
  10. Price and Benintendi for minimal minor league capital seems like a decent risk. At some point if the White Sox are going to succeed they need to be able to stomach some bad contracts. You are going to overpay for cost controlled starting pitcher if it is even available.
  11. Maybe the tv deal isn't the windfall they had expected.
  12. That is the narrative in all sports and what tanking is all about. It is not about the day to day enjoyment of the sport any longer.
  13. Do what he Dodgers thought was a good idea years ago. Take on the Red Sox bad contracts because while those guys are over paid they can help. I am talking about Price and JDM.
  14. If he pitches like last year that is a good contract.
  15. Hopefully they have a greater impact than Jon Jay and Yonder Alonso.
  16. That's only temporarily. I'd stay far away from Ryu and I think anyone that has to keep an eye on a budget will agree. He seems like a perfect Yankee, Giant or Dodger signing or even the cub.
  17. This is last off-season all over again just earlier. We get the Joc rumor and the leading candidate for a top free agent then everything fades away and the White Sox were at the table but in the end the cost was too much for their budget and philosophy. The White Sox are not in on Ryu, Cole or Stras. Carry on.
  18. He wasn't on the mound when they won. That will be the thing that surprises me forever. They are on a nice run but it will be interesting how it goes from here. If the White Sox don't change their stance on the international market this rebuild will be short lived.
  19. Don't they now have 2 spots open? Are they just making room prior to the winter meetings should something open up or other teams try and do the same thing the Sox are doing with their versions of Palka and what not.
  20. Dallas tried that last year. I am thinking the White Sox are going to overpay to end it early.
  21. Rice had some big plays early and was inside the 30 four times in the first half but couldn't capitalize. Dropped a lot of passes. They were getting open often downfield. The Warren DL was as good as I have seen and I have seen a lot of high school football. Warren had two big plays to make it 14-0 and the score to make it 14-0 took the air out of Rice. It really could have been 0-0 going into the 4th quarter. I will give Rice credit they played hard and made a game of it but seemed to have been worn down. Warren was the better team as was LWE v Marist. Greg the Naz QB has ties to Rice and if not for where the family lives he would be at RIce. The 7A and 8A will both be great games.
  22. Score is not indicative of game. For 3 quarters it was an awesome game. 8A is real football.
  23. This is an overpay and a JR loyalty move. If he sucks they release him there is no hit to salary cap or anything like that. I think there is more benefit to him being around than we know. Hoping extensions for Moncada and Robert are the result. A lot of yelling at the clouds the last two days with the White Sox actually spending money in these two threads. Both moves are solid baseball moves.
  24. All right Brian and Greg time to get it on. Rice and Marist over hauled their programs this year and are playing their best ball at the right time. I think they both met teams that are just deeper this week. I think Loyola was a tad over rated this year and both Rice and Marist got great draws. Warren and LWE will be a good one but if Marist and Rice pull it off, Greg you need to Uber to Reilly's Daughter as that will be the epicenter of something. MC and Rita should both be downstate as well. Rita in 5A is something as they should be much higher as they have zero kids playing both ways and every team they play has many. Would love to see them play MC or Naz.
