  1. If harper goes Nats and machado to phils in huge overpay ill be ok.....my guess is boras knew Nats offer all along and are just stringing them along for bigger deal.
  2. Until Harper signs elsewhere the Cubs are the front runners...... if they move money......that's a big if. Nobody needs sources for that, that is a fact. He wants to go there and if the money is right they will get him at a nice discount than what we thought he'd get.
  3. The white sox could offer both 4 yr $200m contracts and not bat an eye. Boras going back to Washington makes perfect sense especially if he feels machado goes to white sox. Harpers only team of interest is white sox.
  4. Folks seem to think the Yankees are pressing hard to get Machado......could the meeting have been due diligence and the actual current market is only sox and phils with only market for Harper Chicago with one team needing to do a lot of money laundering to get him. I'm thinking we get Machado and Harper back to Washington. The White Sox can front load both deals like no other and give opt outs.....if rebuild goes to plan both guys opting out could be helpful and the dynamics of those types of deals could be the hold up in figuring it out.
  5. I hate ND but they did enough. I think OSU should have made It though.
  6. To get back to this rumor I think its obvious the cubs will sign him if they can move salary. The problem is moving the salary. I think the market for Harper is the White Sox and Nats.
  7. Houston and the Cubs torn down their entire organization and rebuilt it from rookie ball to the MLB bringing in new theroies on how to run an organization. The Sox took a failing model traded away veterans and now they have to hit on all those guys. There were a couple of window dressing moves like Getz but the failing ideals and practices of the last 10 years remain in place. I have always been of the mindset that they are half assing this rebuild standing behind loyalty and old school thinking. This organization is now the Bulls with zero creativity or advanced thinking as well as engaging front office staff that can advance an organization. Instead of just taking on shields contract they gave away a lottery ticket that hit big.
  8. If we dont get harper or machado and yonder, martinez or encarnacion are playing for the White Sox I will then be convinced that they are clueless as an organization.
  9. If the cubs trade heyward, almora, schwarber and a top prospect for cueto and sign harper i think tjey become hamstrung in a couple years and also have no outfield unless they sign pollock. Im not sure they are better.
  10. If they fail to hit on this we will get to be reminded of this all summer via yonder Alonzo. If he was a pawn to get Machado you make this move afterward not beforehand. That is rubbing salt in the fans wounds and along the lines of the terrible shields trade in showing maybe this organization is just as bad as the media is portraying and sadly I am fading in that direction.
  11. Dodgers got some good prospects and in 12 months none of those 3 were Resigning with the Dodgers. Money had little to do with that trade it was giving up 3 guys to open spots for guys and adding to the farm at the same time.
  12. This drives up white sox and Phillies offers if Yankees have tapped out well below the other two offers.
  13. Does moving multiple pieces to get Harper really make them better.....I guess if it helps them land Bryant. Where the Sox and Phillies look sad is going through the gyrations for both guys to be told they were never in the running for each which seems to be the national narrative all along for Sox. Not sure how or if that changes but the white sox are now the Bulls.
  14. Arent the cubs selling off small parts of team ownership to pay the bills.....there is a lot of debt there.
  15. Thing with yanks Dodgers and Cubs and the big 2 is that signing either puts them in luxury tax situation for remainder of contract especially yanks and Cubs as all the young talent will need to be paid soon. Sure cub will drop a Lester and hamels but that money goes to retain current talent or sign a replacement.
  16. I agree with all of this but I also have to think that the Sox feel this way as well but maybe there really is no market out there for crazy money except for the White Sox and Phillies. If Harper turned down the Nats deal the Sox knwo what it will take. These deals are not a jump in because of a depressed market. The Padres may hop in for a $200M deal but if it's over $250M you don't just then join in because it's a deal.
  17. I personally think that the Harper deal is based on Machado signing and he wants to beat that. I think the Sox and Harper were always on the same page and the Machado interaction was a plan B. I think if the cubs or Dodgers open up salary he would prefer there. Finally, I think Harper is a better long term fit that cares about his performance and I think Machado is a a average player by age 30 and ages rather poorly.
  18. The hotfire dude and peavy are trolls who have lurked for years and are now just hanging around hoping the Sox get neither. After this whole thing is over we won't hear from them again until the cubs make some noise in some regard or the Sox negatively do. Sad people buy into their BS and let it affect them.
  19. This whole thing comes down to the fact that if the White Sox want either the understanding needs to be that the contract will be a terrible one from Day 1 if they think they are on even footing with anyone except maybe the Phillies they should never have stepped into the ring.
  20. The Chiefs don't have he Bears defense see the Rams game. The Bears will win because the defense wins it. If the offense has to it will be a debacle.
  21. Going south you can see if it's on and oddly enough it is on quite often.
