  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 18, 2018 -> 09:59 AM) Buster Olney‏Verified account @Buster_ESPN 5h5 hours ago Some experienced agents strongly believe this: slow-moving market is not because of collusion; rather, the issue of tanking--the growing number of teams choosing to not participate in competition for players and wins--was not addressed. $ pocketed by teams, and not spent. Someone somewhere linked a nice Yahoo article about this. 30% of the league is not even trying to win.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 16, 2018 -> 09:58 AM) I would agree, but if you are the Bears, you are going to have to know this channel will be on all the systems. I just wonder if the ridiculous TV contracts may be a thing of the past. The Cubs are hot right now, but who knows in 5 years, and when they were bad before, their ratings weren't much better than the White Sox. At least when they were bad, they could make some money on one or two of the other teams being decent. Winter programming would be a big time bore on that station. For the first year or two if they can show old games and whatnot that would be cool. Do they have these rights? Say for instance the first year in the off-season they show every win from the 1969 season, that'd be cool but what do they do after that? Then how many people what to watch that? That's why the current NBC Sports channel works. You get other sports programming to cover gaps.
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 16, 2018 -> 09:38 AM) If I were trying to start a Cubs network, my first goal would be to get as much *exclusive* Bears content as possible. Sign a deal with the Bears that forces CSN/NBCSN to do that embarrassing stuff where they can't show any video of the games, only photos. Don't have Bears staff and representatives come on NBCSN shows. Then you'd have to go to the Cubs channel to get the good Bears content, where they'll have surely poached the best Bears people from Comcast due to the cancellation of some of the Bears programming. I watch the Bears postgame and there are not video highlights now, not sure that the deal is there. It's similar to boxing with BS photos. The thing I keep coming back to is that cubs own 20% of CSN. I think they just want to change the revenue sharing.
  4. Cubs leave CSN they piss off Comcast.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 12, 2018 -> 09:26 AM) I am so confused. I thought Arians was a defensive guy.
  6. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 12, 2018 -> 10:43 AM) Lucas Giolito I agree
  7. If Arians is that close, would be great to bring him in, in Chidress role for the defense next year. Would love to see Chidress and Arians both have some sort of supporting role.
  8. Thing in this I find irritating is this is Pace at the top and he has no other person to lean on because the CEO and President of the organization know nothing about football. This will always be a stumbling block for the Bears.
  9. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 08:45 AM) I can't find it again now, but I saw a headline recently that said something like 90%+ of Peloton buyers still have a subscription a year later. That seems like a really high rate. I loved SPIN classes. In college I actually went to one at 5AM and was certain I was still drunk and had a great workout. The problem with them is finding a consistent schedule that works. The workout really is pretty low impact and can fit for everyone.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 10, 2018 -> 07:18 PM) I’ll be honest, Marko...while the up front investment is not insignificant, they do offer financing which is competitive with high-end gym subscriptions. I’ve had my bike, which was $2k, for just over a year. During that time, I have paid something like $480 in subscription fees. I’ve taken about 160 rides. Thus far, that pencils out to about $16 a ride. I know that isn’t cheap, but as I continue to ride, that price goes down. On my current pace, after 4 more years, that number will hit about $5.60/ride. If you compare that to similar products, such as a boutique spinning class, that is well-below the prices most of them are getting. I view the Tread the same way. The initial investment is no doubt steep, but if you are a current subscriber, the content comes at no additional cost. So I’ll be getting the spinning content and the circuit training content for $39/mo. I do agree it is not inexpensive, but when you pencil it, it’s not as bad as one might initially think. I put in my reservation already. I'm looking into the bike, I take it you like it? If it's sturdy I'm not concerned with the price. Does it break down at all?
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 10:59 AM) Someone tweeted Georgia and Alabama's schedule next year. Cupcake City. It's the SEC. Every team is awesome so OOC games are not important.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 10:48 AM) Can't say I read this and thought "Ryan Pace has his finger on the pulse on the cutting edge of NFL trends" https://www.theringer.com/2018/1/9/16867564...eagles-patriots I can't say I know their cap situation and how it works as compared to with the Eagles and Browns were detailed in teh story but it seems like the Wheaton and Glennon contracts could impact what would have been able to be rolled over inot this offseason. I was unaware of the rollover options. Makes the bad middle of the road FA signings worse. Although keeping guys on teh field would help. Isn't Ted Phillips the cap guru?
  13. QUOTE (Tony @ Jan 8, 2018 -> 11:17 PM) He has Russell Wilson written all over him. He looks small to me.
  14. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 29, 2017 -> 06:28 PM) Big story today. Frank Lenti out as Head Coach and Mount Carmel and Jordan Lynch is taking over. MC reported it as a mutual parting but Lenti says otherwise. President ran him out of town starting last July......whole thing is rather odd, he just went to the semis new president making a power play.
  15. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Dec 19, 2017 -> 04:44 PM) James Fox‏ @JamesFox917 5m5 minutes ago More So @MLBBruceLevine says #Orioles asked the #Cubs for Javier Baez in exchange for Machado. I think he stays in Baltimore. They missed the boat on dealing him if they are asking for guys like that in return. Why wouldn't the cubs make that move?
  16. Replay should be limited to 45 seconds (similar to the play clock) and if you cant overturn it in that time the play stands.
  17. OSU Michigan The Rest Like the SEC it is Alabama The rest Teams will ebb and flow because of the conference play but that's it.
  18. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 02:15 PM) Tillman would be a solid veteran signing for one year I know this is said and is dumb every time but I will say again, I like Coop and Tillman working together. Yes Coop will fix him.
  19. If he is admit he will not extend, there is no reason to trade for him.
  20. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 01:43 PM) I am hoping someone here has been to an event here recently. I bought tickets online for an upcoming event online and noticed on the Ticketmaster ticket you print off there is a 2016 ad for an event in Rosemont. It seemed a little strange to me but I wanted to see if this has been on tickets on the past or not. Everything else looks normal on the tickets besides the ad. When did the event originally go on sale?
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2017 -> 11:03 AM) There is a reason they are last in about every category of education you can measure. The University of Alabama is giving away tuition to students up north. You really don't need to be that great of a student to get a great financial package from there.
  22. There are only a handful (if that) of players I think they would trade Kopech or Hansen for and Clint Frazier is not close to being one of them.
  23. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 10, 2017 -> 07:48 PM) Something has changed in the "culture" It's not just a talent thing. There is NO energy from Kane, Toews Saad, Keith ect. I was just thinking that recently. It seems the Saad trade as well as all of the moves this past off season have caused them to take another step back this season.
  24. I guess Seattle will be real active this July.
