  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 13, 2017 -> 02:08 PM) Hoke went 11-2 and then 8-5 and 7-6...and then laid a huge egg in his fourth season. Harbaugh is 10-3, 10-3, and 8-2 thus far. Pretty different trajectory. Harbaugh also had a little bit of success in a power conference and the NFL prior to joining Michigan.
  2. Maybe someone that is complaining should come up with a better solution
  3. Jonathan Quayle Higgins, AKA John Hillerman Best supporting actor on one of the best television shows ever made, Magnum PI
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 6, 2017 -> 03:40 PM) Don't know if I am the only one here, but Vikings on History will be back at the of the month. I love the series, Watched the whole series this past spring. Not a fan of the later seasons as much but looking forward to it. Lagertha does it for me.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 3, 2017 -> 01:31 PM) Uh, yeah, holding the team hostage in order to get taxpayers to pay for his location and then give him a sweetheart lease isn't an altruistic move. Municipalities are being raped on the deals now a days see Atlanta for instance. Reinsdorf got a vanilla stadium that serves its purpose. Why the ISFA does not utilize the park is on them not the White Sox. Imagine the revenue it that was a retractable dome that could host he Super Bowl or a final four?
  6. That site was incredible for local news. The Ricketts family are terrible people.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 3, 2017 -> 09:02 AM) I don't really carea bout financial flexibility anymore. As soon as you decide to add you are going to be paying players the max. And so you have to hope to be getting the players actually worth a max deal. And so that's the same predicament we've been in for 10?20? years Since Benny and Penny hooked up at the airport.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 3, 2017 -> 09:07 AM) McNair might have painted himself into a deep enough corner with his prisoners statement that it takes something like signing Kap to save him from his own players. That's what i'm thinking especially after the trade.
  9. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 2, 2017 -> 04:33 PM) McNair would hire me before Kaepernick. He could quite down the storm around him by giving him a contract for this season.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 2, 2017 -> 03:57 PM) Plus we got screwed on the medicals, which totally changes the face of that deal. The White Sox thought that 2015 James Shields was there because they had no reason not to. Now all of the sudden the guy can't even throw 90 and needs a new arm slot. My point was not to bring up Tatis ability just that he was part of the deal because the Padres paid $30M of the salary.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 2, 2017 -> 02:15 PM) It isnt' about the contract, it is for the player you get for the contract. It really isn't different than the Robert signing, except instead of the money going directly to the prospect, it goes to the bad contract player. But essentially you are still buying another prospect. I am guessing the Sox gave the Padres Tatis because the Padres covered $30M of salary.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 30, 2017 -> 02:04 PM) I would hope that the ratings for a sport's championship would be much greater than a regular season game in a different sport. With 2 of the top 3 television markets in the country playing. If this was Kansas City and Florida it is a different story.
  13. QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Oct 30, 2017 -> 10:33 AM) Tom Brady won 3 Super Bowls with a bunch of trash receivers. He was so good he could make it work anyway. Don't tell me that the likes of Deion Branch, Jabar Gaffney and Troy Brown were good receivers. They are probably comparable to Kendall Wright in quality. I think we can all agree that he is not going to be one of the best QB's in the history for professional football.
  14. Whitehair and Long were both out for the Bears at the end of the game. You really can't judge Trubs on anything this year as there are zero receivers. Bears/review gave away 11 points yesterday. That's the difference in the game.
  15. I don't see how this deal makes sense for the Giants. All three contracts are bad but the Giants contracts you could eat some salary and move both guys for $0.50 on the dollar. The Heyward deal is an albatross. The Giants in total also take on about $30M in extra salary. This assumes nobody opts out and the cubs don't send money the Giants way.
  16. Maybe this is why Illinois basketball is in shambles every year. They need to recruit Chicago and Chicago seems to be a cesspool in every facet of society.
  17. I think he sits out a year or two and replaces Maddon.
  18. Jones could start the season by retiring the first 60 men he faced and you would still not be able to move him for anything of any worth.
  19. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 20, 2017 -> 09:44 AM) It's the combo of Culberson and Granderson though as Taylor went back and forth between outfield and infield when with Seager, both aren't starting. Will be interesting to see who Seagar replaces.
  20. Aaron Judge may hit an Alex Wood fastball out of Dodger Stadium
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 20, 2017 -> 02:50 AM) Best? The Ops team that just ran through cases of champagne at Wrigley begs to differ As does Houston, Cleveland, Boston and the Yankees. The cubs are right there with them. The cubs were gifted Rizzo in a collusion deal, Bryant is there because of Houston's misstep (him in that lineup would be disgusting), Baez and Contrearas were Hendry finds. Arrieta, Russell and Hendricks were nice additions as will Happ. I think Schwarber is a detriment to that team. They made the world series without him. Going to be interesting off season for them. Quintana needs to be able to go deeper into games on a consistent basis.
  22. Let's all just agree that Gar Forman is a joke and move on. He makes the Bears decision making look like the New England Patriots.
