  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 02:20 PM) http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/1755432...on-mlb-database That was a pretty fascinating article and AJ Preller seems like a shady guy to say the least.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 11:07 AM) Yeah, see this is what I mean, so income is up 5%, savings is basically unchanged, but nothing else is growing, in fact key indicators fell last month Retails sales -0.3%, after +0.1% in July GDP up 1% in the first half of the year Gas sales down 0.8% Auto sales down 0.9% PPI flat Where is the money going? The entertainment utility industry - cell phone, internet, television.
  3. If Tigers win the world series will opener be Sunday night or do the cubs already get that game v the cardinals?
  4. Road sereis in April and May with no home series longer than 6 games and one of only 3 9 10 10 9 3 at home 6 (15 of 18 on the road) 6 6 Then only one series more than 6 games the rest of the way. Play a ton of home games in June, July, August.
  5. Remember when the White Sox when 24-10 and there was a rumor of 100,000 tickets sold to fans looking to come out. Attendance last night was really something. Beautiful night for baseball.
  6. Watching the Night Of on HBO, pretty good.
  7. OK I am a Sox fan and think I know the minors to some degree but until this weekend I thought he was the guy they picked up from the Astros earlier this year. Why does anyone think he does not have a viable future? He seems to do things decently enough and does not have any glaring weaknesses and is only 24. He has no pop but he walks some and doesn't strikeout all that often. His MiLB stats are not much off of what he doing currently..... He seems rather overlooked if you ask me.
  8. QUOTE (SpankyEaton @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 07:10 AM) Okay, so why can't the Sox do what the Cubs did and do a complete teardown? The owner argument? The lack of fan trust in management to do a successful rebuild (and acquire the right pieces)? Or are the players we have to offer not what the Cubs did? The Russell, Rizxo and Strop/Arrieta trades were all luck. The cubs did a baseball wide organizational rebuild which focused on philosophies on how they wanted to go about building their team. The white sox are not firing everyone from KW on down nor do they have any idea on how to build a team other than getting guys that had good stats on the baseball card as viewed in 1988.
  9. Is the buyout a two way street in that in order to leave the hiring party would have to pay Iowa that amount? Doesn't the buyout essentially mean he is not going anywhere? Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, Purdue, Indiana, Rutgers, and Maryland would die for the stability that he is bringing to that program. Fitz at NU is very comparable. Keep the program clean, keep the team interesting and make a run at hte Rose Bowl from time to time.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) So many pitches. No need for it He only threw 116 pitches I see no issue with that.
  11. Quintana pitching himself out of Cy Young contention
  12. If this game meant anything at all, this would be a useless afternoon at work.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 05:39 PM) You going to any games this year Harry? I keep telling myself I have to come in for a game some day. I'd love to check out a game at Rice's field. Was at Marist game at soldier field tailgate was very cool. Will probably hit a couple more. Their problem is they are not good enough to compete in 8A especially after a loss or two in the regular season.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 03:23 PM) Who was he supposed to put out there? Melky is sick, Coats is down. He didn't have many options Hoping this is just another step to the end of the Avi experiment and whoever gave them the scouting report on him should have been fired as well, as the organization thought he could be an every day centerfielder........sigh...he could be the fundamentally worst player I have ever seen.
  15. I thought it would take at least four batters to lose that game. That was a pretty sad ass sweep there by the Tigers. Sox led by at least two runs each game I believe. Oh well.
  16. Tiger pen handled the White Sox pretty well this series.
  17. I'll go D Rob, Hit, sac bunt, K, walk, infield single, hit, game over
  18. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 12:52 PM) Or trade Lawrie. His ability to play third and second along with Saladino's flexibility you keep both. The White Sox don't have any depth to replace guys as we have seen this year and previous with crappy bench players.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 10:38 AM) Was that really his knee? Have you ever seen Teddy Bridgewater?
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 29, 2016 -> 10:53 PM) That's very interesting about the sophomore QBs at both schools. I wonder if they'll move Marist QB to RB if another kid takes over soon. I do get worried cause you've mentioned Rice's poor coaching before. Do you know if Rice switched anything on defense this year re. coaching? That defense looked pretty good. Marist couldn't do squat. Any reason Rice's defense would be improved? I did notice they had a pretty big kid playing defensive line or LB. Looked like a good player. Their staff is young so hopefully they are learning. Sunday was much better, over time they should be a strong point for the team. The OC and DC are both new so we'll see. The defensive line for Rice should be a strong point for them. That D Lineman is really good as is a LB and safety. Just not sure what the O line will bring. If they protect the QB they will be dangerous but O line play has hurt on a consistent basis over the years.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 29, 2016 -> 10:23 PM) I guarantee you would not hate me in real life. I'm not a dick yet I am not beloved on here. I think you are the best poster on this site And I am not just saying that becasue you could have sat next to me high school
  22. The best two QB's at rice and Marist are sophomores. Marist soph will probably start next game or after Simeon. Rice could be great but it will come down to coaching while fails them often. Best talent in Illinois is at east st Louis with good coaching they could win 8A.
  23. Larry Sanders to me was the best but Boardwalk Wire GOT TD season 1 Hell it is easier to name the shows on that list that I was/am not fired up each week to watch.
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2016 -> 01:40 PM) OK, will Br Rice beat Marist Sunday? What's the verdict. I see St. Laurence won its opener at Benet and scored a lot of points. Is Laurence for real or is Laurence Loyola Light with the spread in its infancy there? Is Rice's defense any better this year? laurence is a nice 4a/5a team they play rita week 4 if rice doesn't get out coached again this year they should be fine. they'll never get past semis in 8a
