QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 12, 2016 -> 12:51 PM) He isn't ideal, but he is way better than Clinton, unlike the guy that actually won the nomination. The whole thing about the GOP is that Trump was never electable. There were 6 to 8 of those other candidates that were electable and 2 or 3 that would have won simply becasue Hillary is not well liked. The way the GOP played is rather disgraceful as republicans kind of handed the presidency to HRC.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Oct 12, 2016 -> 10:43 AM) I'm thinking about last night. The Giants obviously don't have a closer, so why didn't they go to Samardzija in the 9th? Yes, I know he got lit up in Game 2, but his stuff is most likely much better in 1 inning at a time scenarios and he wasn't going to pitch in Game 5 either. All I know is that a revolving door of s***ty relievers isn't going to get it done against the Cubs. I bet the Giants wish they had traded for a closer. I did not think JS got lit up in game two. I thought he was a victim of bad luck/outfield positioning and thought he should have come in for the 9th.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 12, 2016 -> 08:33 AM) Week 9 Loyola vs Brother Rice game is huge. They are currently #1 and #2 by points and record in 8A. The winner will be the #1 seed in the 8A playoffs. The loser most likely falls all the way down to #9 though with an 8-1 record. One of Loyola/BR, On of Palatine/Barrington and Hinsdale Central, Neuqua Valley, Homewood Flossmoor, Oswego, St. Charles East, and possibly West Aurora should all be 9-0 teams. As a matter of fact, it looks like the top 18 teams in 8A will be 9-0 or 8-1. Should have at least 1 8-1 team on the road in the 8A playoffs. It's crazy. 8A is crazy loaded. I am wondering if there is shift in football and dropping numbers that is causing this. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 12, 2016 -> 07:30 AM) If you ever wondered why the Giants were a WC team and not a division winner, now you know. That bullpen was s*** all year, especially in the 9th inning. It kept them from passing the Dodgers and now it prematurely ended their season. Bochy does look silly right now, but there's not much you can do when you really don't trust anybody in your bullpen. How different the series would have been if they had gone after Chapman. .

Unrelated to earlier posts but the line says this is a pick 'em........ If Matt Moore is on, I think the Giants can get to Lackey. Thus the final score will be 8-3 cubs. This game could be a blow out either way or a nail-biter.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 09:24 AM) Yes, and MadBum pitched in 2.5 of the 7 games. He pitched 21 of the 63 innings. Despite a historic performance and atypical overuse due to desperation, Bumgarner was only involved in one-third of the innings in that series. That would be like if Tom Brady could on play in the first quarter and a half of the Super Bowl. And when you think about the rest of the year, it's even less. Bumgarner made 33 starts in 2014, which is 20% of the teams 162 games. What if Tom Brady only played in 3.25 games every season? It just doesn't add up. It's no knock on MadBum or Chris Sale, it's just a fact that we fans have to accept. As sexy as an ace is, one player simply cannot dominate in baseball the way a QB or NBA star can, and that informs the prices that teams are going to pay. In baseball you can lose playoff games in football you cannot. I think the comparison would be Brady playing the first three quarters of the super bowl or playoff game.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 02:10 AM) Moore has a great curveball. +5.1 pitch value on it this year according to FanGraphs. Good for 9th best this year in baseball. Unfortunately, Samardzija had a +6.5 pitch value on his curve this year and the Cubs beat the s*** out of him. Cubs team as a whole vs. curveball: -1.8, 18th in baseball. Cubs vs. Slider: +13.3, best in baseball. Cubs struggle the most against changeups (-7.8, 23rd), which is Moore's third best pitch. Pete Rose was half right. I don't think they beat the s*** out of Samardzija and for some reason I think he pitches tonight and does some good work. I take the Giants in game five if they win tonight. The extra inning fun s*** that Maddon pulled all season is getting questioned hard right now on the radio. Especially pinch hitting Ross over Coghlan...he tried to be too cute.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 7, 2016 -> 11:54 PM) Thank u. I was busy tonite and couldn't watch. What team was that they were playing? I never heard of 'em. St. Joseph?? Is that Pingatore's school? Yes small school in Westchester. They have been canabalized by Nazareth, Benet and Fenwick so their numbers are low. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 10:56 PM) Yep He seemed to outperform his roster the last two years.

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 10:26 AM) The scariest part of this season is that after the 23-10 start, for the rest of the 129 games on the schedule, which represented 80% of the season, the team played at a winning percentage that over an entire season would have produced a 100 loss season. That's what makes all of this talk about "going for it" next year questionable, at least at the moment. The starting point is a roster that played very poorly from early May all the way until early October. So with that in mind, it will be interesting, indeed, to see how the front office conducts itself this offseason. Take out the 10-24 stretch and you are left with the complete opposite result.

Mets will win and blown their only starter in the process and then get swept by the cub.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 10:51 PM) Holy cow. How can Rice be expected to hand MC a two-game losing streak? When's the last time Carmel lost two in a row? I'm dying to watch Rice play in person. This would be a good weekend to fly in. Rice game then Sox. Greg with a home win Friday, the last week of the season could pit 8-0 Loyola v 8-0 Rice at Rice......Loyola does not travel well......of course Rice has to get past Carmel and Rita neither of which are what they used to be. If the Rice QB continues playing like he has, they could be the best team in the state along with HF, Loyola and LWE. That Lockport conference is an absolute beast. The CCL Blue gets a lot of recognition but other than Rice and Loyola the other teams make their noise in the lower classes of the playoffs. There is a huge difference between 6A and 8A in the state playoffs. -
Chance The Rapper +8 others concert @USCF

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 26, 2016 -> 03:05 PM) I've heard nothing but positive things about the show, and frankly it was one of the few positive moments with the south side front and center this year and the white sox stadium got to be a part of it. Chance has been a great ambassador for Chicago, let alone the sox. The stadium is much better equipped than wrigley and soldier field for a concert. Wrigley is abysmal for attending a concert. -

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 26, 2016 -> 12:50 AM) Actually what I said about not knowing any of the artists wasn't entirely true. I only know Chance the Rapper from his Sox commercials but John Legend, Lil Wayne and Alicia Keys are huge artists and I even knew about Skrillex though I would certainly agree that their genre is hard to pinpoint. I know the names of all of those acts and believe me those genres of music are not my cup of tea. That was an impressive lineup. My guess is the White Sox do not benefit at all from that concert. -
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Sep 22, 2016 -> 11:05 AM) Well there is some good news anyway... According to Sneed in the Sun-Times today the Sox are in negotiations with the Guaranteed Loan Company to make some changes to the company logo that will be adoring the main entrance to the park. Seems they are concerned about the "downward pointing arrow" and the implications for a baseball team according to Sneed. It will just be around the front / main entrance according to his story. Mark Sneed is a woman.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 22, 2016 -> 10:43 AM) Now I get that. I guess its commendable. I'd move on to a different candidate because of it though. I would agree with you but he was kind of pushed out by the cub so I see his point with the White Sox and don't think it should reflect on him as much. -

I said this in the cubs thread a couple of months back but I think it will be Chris Bosio.
