QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 10:00 AM) I personally don't think the Tigers are a lock to be better than the Sox next year, and the Cell is a better hitters park to post #'s in. as well as having defensive lackings exposed

QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 12:36 PM) TV's Schneider, Pat Harrington. Please always remember, and never forget... Anyone with an abnormally large key chain is called Schneider...a tv classic

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 09:53 AM) No. Nobody is going to look at the Bucs firing their head coach to promote their coordinator and say "Bears should have done that". That is not my point. The Bucs recognized that they need a stable offensive minded coach for Winston and they see the guy they want. If they lose the OC, now Winston has a new OC, which would be the third in three years under Lovie there....although Tedford was for medical reasons The Bears will have their third in three years as well and no coach will have been the OC for Cutler for more than two years and will be the 7th in 8 years. There is an article about this out there http://sportsmockery.com/2015/11/chicago-b...-of-sadness/11/ I DO NOT THINK THE BEARS SHOULD FIRE FOX FOR GASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do understand why the Bucs did fire Lovie for an offensive minded coach.

Ken Griffey gets 99.32% of Hall of Fame vote. Highest ever.
Harry Chappas replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Am I alone in liking the history that nobody gets 100%? Griffey certainly was a great player but for him to be the only player to ever get 100% kind of doesn't feel right. The story that he was the only player to ever get 100% would be.....I don't really know how to explain it. -
QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 08:29 AM) One of the big Bucs writers and local radio host here in Tampa is saying Lovie was never asked to change his staff. It has to be about not wanting to lose Koetter. Sounds like Koetter was going to get a HC job somewhere and the Bucs don't want to lose that relationship between him and Winston. Maybe Mike Smith as his DC. This makes sense and is something the Bears should have done to protect Cutler. The Bears carousel of coaches on the offensive side of the ball and hiring defensive minded coaches sans the buffoon Treastman has led to a constant state of flux. Now Gase is gone and in comes a new offensive guy. It seems the offense changes annually.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 5, 2016 -> 12:35 PM) he ran his cousin (the wife of a police office) off the road for telling people he was banging his wife on his front lawn. ie - he f***ed with a cop The guy that committed the first crime appeared more heinous than Avery.

Brendan Dassey is somehow the forgotten part of this whole story. He is the one that basically had no legal representation and was screwed over royally by those that originally represented him. He was also convicted of a greater number of charges. Avery also had top notch attorneys compared to Dassey. The lack of DNA evidence in the trailer is the compelling thing in this case. Then the testimony of the niece and Dassey swing me back the other way that something did happen. I think the forensic investigation was a joke as well. Here is the Avery story from my point of view on the blood and key. All he has to say is that her car would not start after she took the photos. He cut his hand working the garage. He took her car into the garage to jump start it and put the key in his pocket. The key had no other keys so it could have been a spare. I found the fact there were no other keys on the chain odd. Also the fact her DNA was not on the key was even more odd. She had that key with her but never used it.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 4, 2016 -> 02:42 PM) Good call on Carr. Basically, the big story to me in this boring as hell NFL season was: - The end of the QB elite: Peyton gone, Brees pretty much done for good. Rodgers with a down year. Brady was Brady - The second tier was bi-polar: Romo out. Rivers was back to garbage. Eli was not so great. Kaepernick went from future star to replaced by worst QB in league. Meanwhile, Newton, Wilson and Roethlisberger were fantastic. With Newton/Wilson possibly becoming new tier 1 QBs. But looks like the fresh blood with Bortles/Cousins/Mariota/Carr/Winston may have very bright years ahead. Cutler I think had a great year but not sure what tier he is. Kind of like the best of tier 3. I think Big Ben is top tier and has been for a while

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 3, 2016 -> 10:12 AM) Huh? I just said I wish we had those refs since they let the exact same play go. Would have been nice to see more than 5 minutes of one of the best to ever put on the jersey before he left. Oddly those were Big Ten refs in the game which you speak. Bosa should have been flagged but not kicked out of the game. It was a penalty but not worthy of an ejection. -
I gotta put this somewhere. So I made the mistake of flipping on Mully and Hanley this morning and part of the talk was that the record was 6-10 and they were in last place and thus the season was not a success and the team needs to figure out how to beat Detroit, Minnesota and the Packers. If you watched this season and came away with anything other than promise I am not certain you should be expressing views on the season. The Bears have found a way to compete with Rodgers and played just fine with Detroit and Minnesota.

I think the thing that really got me was when the replaced juror stated that jurors just kind of gave in and voted guilty. The original straw vote of 7 not guilty, 3 guilty and 2 undecided was very telling as well.

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jan 2, 2016 -> 12:07 PM) This is absolutely true, however the real right answer is to sign him and put him with legitimate linemates. In years prior Kane suffered that fate. To think that contract is anything less than justly earned is foolish my god the guy has worn the C since he was 20, has his name on the cup with three teams.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 02:51 PM) Sure he is. He signed a 184 million deal instead of a 200 million deal. If he dislocates his hip this year he will make less money. He signed it with the intention of opting out to make more later. He is betting on himself to continue to produce at a high level for three years to make more later. Oddly he has not really performed at that high of a level. Over the next three years he will realistically produce what the other three big outfielders were then at 30 he will be a free agent and sign an 8 year $200M contract. Thus instead of being 35 and collecting $200M he will be 39 and will have collected $275M. Anything less than a $125M deal at age 30 is a win for him. The whole cubbie love, cheap contract thing is all smoke and bulls*** perpetrated by a clueless Chicago media. If Gordon signs with the White Sox WSCR will tell us how is overpaid and old when in reality over the next three years he can realistically be as productive as Heyward for about $15M less. Personally I thought Gordon was the better fit for the cub for the short term. Moving Heyward to CF reduces his value. Of course Heyward will hit 40 home runs a year for the next three years.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 01:02 PM) Well this is f***ed up. http://www.businessinsider.com/sweden-cash...t-rates-2015-10 bah, wrong board/thread. Do I read this to essentially mean, invest your money somewhere or spend it, just don't leave it lying around as free cash. Ah the fund managers win again.

Debate over #1 hitting and pitching prospects in mlb
Harry Chappas replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You wanna be really sad.....I know hindsight. Imagine Stroman in the rotation this year. Also during this draft I recall people on this site stating Giolito was worth the risk....as was Appeal. Wacha was still there as well. http://www.baseball-reference.com/draft/in...type=year_round You could say the same thing about the cubs though as well. -
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 11:46 AM) They didn't choose the side. They only chose to kickoff. If they chose a side, the Jets could have elected to kickoff. The wind was not the reason for their decision. A ST stop and then defensive stop, FG victory was the plan.
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 11:03 AM) That's the dumbest thing I've ever seen. I can't imagine Brady was very happy with his coach taking the ball out of his hands. It is not a bad idea if there is wind. Also it has worked in the past. The idea is not as terrible as it appears on the surface.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 08:37 AM) He's not past his prime. He is 31. O-line is in bad shape because they has 4 or their 5 starters out yesterday. What team would look good with 4 starters out? Rodgers has been pretty shaky at times this year. Add a Banged up o-line, awful wideouts and no tight end to the mix. His is still having a good year. How many qb's would take his season this year and it's probably his worst. I think there is an injury there that he is trying to play through.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 01:46 PM) Gross. Frees up some coin until the playoffs.....

I think all sporting venues have s*** way to close to the field whether it is concrete barriers and people around a football field or basketball court or people behind dugouts without netting. I have felt this for a while not just because of the events of the recent months.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 10:10 AM) And then he came back in and won them a cup. Barely anyone will remember him faltering. Look I am not arguing that Crawford is anything less that what you guys are stating. I was just trying to rationalize why he currently is behind Keith, Toews, and Kane and probably still behind Seabrook and Hossa in what would be a fan value of Blackhawk players. He is certainly making his salary.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 08:51 AM) You're right. No great goalie has ever had a bad playoff game before. It happened and it will be part of how he is perceived. Same as falling down the stairs and breaking his foot. I am not stating whether it is right or wrong but it happened and will be how people perceive him.
