QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 11:42 AM) I'll laugh at whoever signs Josh McCown as their starter in the offseason, and if its the Bears i'll laugh in shame. Nobody is signing him to anything. This season proves that the system works and works well. The play calling and OL design help to protect the quarterback and lead to QB numbers that can be impressive. The question is, what is Jay Cutler worth. Can Matt Schaub work in this system? Is there a draftee that can work in this system? Those are the organizational decisions. is there a guy that can be plugged in that can get you what Jay gets you. Jay is not young so epic turnarounds in how he manages a team is not happening.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 08:50 AM) It's a feel good story about Josh McCown after being out of the league and all that, but the Bears are high if they go with him over Cutler next year. The question is, does Cutler fit in this system? Josh McCown is not the answer to the future but it is a barometer as to whether Jay is or not in this system.

QUOTE (wardo @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 07:50 AM) Probably not. You get a pitcher back who's controllable through arbitration until 2016, and in a couple of years a guy who could help your outfield. And most likely add to your minor league pitching stock for future trades with the one or two pitchers that would come from the Sale trade. The goal is to compete long term, so getting rid of one pitcher for help in both pitching and the outfield is seen more of a long-term goal than holding on to a guy who may blow his arm out and as good as he is, only pitches one out of every 5 games. A s*** pitcher and a player with a broken leg....why did I even bother.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 04:13 PM) Good read. How does DNA in panties not = enough to charge? What else do you need? Ok, it's he said, she said still, I get that. Let the jury decide. That's their job. The prosecutor was effectively the judge and jury on this case, deciding there wasn't enough evidence to convict. Something's f***ed up about a system that operates that way. The state of Florida is a small step above a third world nation. -
You know a team I could see getting into this discussion, Boston. The Yankees as well, although I do not think they have the pieces. Boston and the Yankees can outspend and paper over mistakes, a team like Arizona cannot. The Dodgers as well but they seem to have more pitching then they need already. Actually if Kenny Williams was a GM somewhere, I could see him gutting a farm system for it although he would never have a farm system with enough pieces to begin with.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 11:28 AM) LMAO, you think the Rays front office would just take a guy or two for Price? My point was to move Sale for a package of players, then move a portion of that package or current players for Price Sale's value is that he is young and cheap. He will net more than Price. The issue comes to the budget of the White Sox and do they want to spend money on David Price. Sale will get you more and better prospects than Price. In teh end you can have Price and some younger talent if you want to pay for it it on a Price extension.

Take the best offer you can get then move a guy or two for Price and ink Price to a long term deal. Hopefully at the end of the day you have Price and an A rated prospect Sale would fit into Tampa's budget as well......

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 6, 2013 -> 06:36 PM) Howard Stern complains about lack of depth of characters? NOw that is funny. Guy interviewed kirstie alley for an hour and a half and it was awesome. The guy is amazing at what he does. He entertains for four hours a day.

Also if Napoli does not come back he wears 12.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 6, 2013 -> 09:58 PM) Ducks had the game won earlier. Such an obvious push by Seabrook on that goalie interference. Probably why there was no call on the Saad breakaway. wonder if he faced any shootouts in the Finnish league? Looks like he had no idea what to do. Seabrook has had two really bad games the last two, really bad.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 03:20 PM) DLPs still see a lot of use in high-end, high-demand video applications. We're building a video wall for a customer that spec'd out 8 70" DLP's, and they are not cheap. I have a 7 year 65" Toshiba DLP that sits in a wall cutout. The size was perfect. The picture is still awesome and the gaming is really good. It is big but not overly heavy. I would think about getting another one if the cost was right.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 6, 2013 -> 09:45 AM) Do you mean s*** tons of money? I've never heard of any complaint that HBO doesn't spend ENOUGH money. They spent something like 100 million to build a set for Rome, a show that lasted all of two seasons. Howard Stern has complained that they do not pay developers or actors well. I suppose he could be wrong.

Not sure it is a class act but it is pretty cool.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 6, 2013 -> 08:15 AM) He is involved in the same sense that Hector Santiago is involved. Meaning he's not. Because Samardzija is not an ace. Not according to the article that I was referring to.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 05:48 PM) I don't know, a lot of the longest running cable shows are dramas, not comedies. Dexter, sopranos, the wire, 6 feet under GoT true blood I'm not sure where to put Weeds, it is funny but not really a straightforward comedy. Yes but they have up and down seasons and are at the liberty of the writers to continue on with an arc as well as subplots used to advance the show. Lost was amazing for three years but then nothing. Shows like the Simpsons, Seinfeld and Mash can have a s*** episode but it is independent of the preceding and next episode as the writers have nothing more than the next week to worry about. Dramas are at the mercy of the writers ability and then the audiences capability to understand.
-
HBO pays s*** money for programming same thing that AMC is doing. One thing about shows is people want them to come out of the gate flying and then be that good for the duration. Shows lose their luster unless they are scripted comedies written by genius comedians. The Wire was a show that held water for all five seasons but the plot was so spread out that almost every season was a new show but also not to complex as GOT as lose some of the story. I think most of the GOT story is lost on a good percentage of the audience.

How does Samardzija get involved in any conversation in which getting an ace is the team's priority. David Price or Jeff Samardzija.......ok

QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 10:00 AM) Verducci had a pretty good article in support of Jack Morris. It probably won't change anybody's mind, but he makes some good points. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mlb/news/...s-hall-of-fame/ Would love to see Glavine, Maddux, Thomas, Jack Morris and hawk get recognized. Would be a simply awesome class. I cannot believe no starter who has debuted in my lifetime (1971) has been elected to the HOF.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 04:50 PM) Thats a good thing for FSU, sounds like nothing happening. If he was suspended what happens? They can beat Duke without a quarterback. -
SOA is the king of the implausible reality but it was really good again last night.

I am amazed that anyone thinks the 25th man on the roster, which Konerko is, will impact any type of reload, rebuild, etc. Yes the development of a player sitting on the bench works well, see Anderson, Brian 2006. The guy is making twice as much as Tyler Flowers for christ sake. Nobody's hands are tied and the roster is not now f***ed. This is a cheap bench option who amazingly enough should add some nice pop off the bench if needed. He is coming back in a defined role that suites him perfectly what the hell is the big deal?
-
Move Dunn to LF, Viciedo to right, and Garcia to CF. DeAza is your fourth outfielder Konerko DH Abreu, Beckham, Ramirez, Gillespie Phegley/Flowers 12 pitchers Utility infielder plus another The outfield defense will suck but who cares if the team sucks they should still hit the crap out of the ball. Personally I think Dunn is traded.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 03:55 PM) Would he really be that hard to replace though? What does he give you besides a scowl and some action scenes? Everyone could easily be replaced on that show.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 03:38 PM) I didnt like him at first, but this last season he grew on me a lot. Also, there is really only one true fan favorite IMO, and he is in the spoiler black above this post. Everyone has issues with pretty much every character on the show. Yes if he was off the show the show would lose interest across the board.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 02:09 PM) Phegley and Flowers combined for a -.6 bWAR last year. Pierzynski had a 1.6 bWAR. But you're right, we should have kept him, paid him $7 million and lost 97 games instead of 99. That would have done us a lot of good. TWTW
