He is 30 years old and has been ok, Maddon most likely used him properly, the White Sox will not, so I figure he will end up hitting about .180 next year.

I view Morris like Terry Bradshaw. Products of a very good systems that were then able to shine because of the situation in which they were placed. Again just my opinion so there is no need to pull out nine million stats to prove that Terry Bradshaw was the greatest quarterback to walk the earth, it is just my opinion.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 06:47 AM) I believe the HOF comes down to more than A game. By the way, I do not think either of them are HOF worthy, I like Jack Morris better for no other reason than he was a good playoff pitcher same as Dave Stewart.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 05:54 PM) Mussina had more wins, less losses, a lower ERA, a better K/9, a better WHIP, lower BB/9, etc, all while pitching in a MUCH higher offensive era. Mussina ranked in the Top 10 for Cy Young 9 times, vs Morris's 5. Both were 5 time all stars. Sorry but I think morris post season success puts him in front of mussina. Did mussina ever win a post season game?

Morris should get in before Mussina.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 01:56 PM) I followed on facebook for a while. I had to drop him, as it was too painful. Last I heard of him he was getting beat up in the Rosemont Horizon parking lot.

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 01:35 PM) No. I'm a hermit. I've never seen a Fast and Furious movie. That makes four of us. When I first saw it I was thinking it was Christopher Walken.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 01:41 PM) No matter how hard I try and no matter how many times I look at their stats, I simply cannot come up with a reason as to why people think Don Mattingly and Jack Morris are Hall of Famers. Jack Morris is solely on his epic post season performances. Don Mattingly simply because he played for the Yankees when the Yankees sucked.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 09:53 AM) Anymore Chicago sports radio isn't intelligent. It is more say something controversial to get people stirred and maybe generate some calls. Ignore anyone with something intelligent to say, and put the guy on the air who is going to say something stupid. If they say something intelligent, take it out of context, or twist it into something else. It is basically reality TV on the radio. It is an insult to anyone with a sports IQ. When they talk to professionals it is pretty good.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 10:47 AM) If you really think you and others on here know obvious plays that will no doubt work for yardage and Trestman doesn't, it's time for the Fire Trestman thread. Without a doubt if he called for one of these so called slants and the pass was tipped and picked off, the experts who now say that would have worked would have been saying, "they were in obvious FG range, why are they taking any chances? It's Monday morning. If whatever he called worked, he is a genius. If it didn't, it was foolish. For his career, indoors, Robbie Gould is 15-17 from 40-49 yards out. Before yesterday he had not missed since 2006 from 40-49 yards out while kicking indoors. Those are the stats

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 07:10 AM) I was thinking the same thing. The defense knows 100% you are going to run, and your O-line is not the best at run blocking. There is a good chance the FG becomes longer on 3rd down. What I still don't understand is why the refs picked up the late hit flag on Jared Allen on the opening OT drive. The hit was clearly after the whistle. I would agree except the Bears ran every play in that series I believe and moved the ball rather easily. A 49 yard field goal is never a gimme and a dumb call on 2nd down. You pass the ball on second down, something safe, and 3rd down and then if need be kick it on 4th down. The Bears game plan changed when they went 20-10 and got very conservative. The 2nd and 1 call was terrible at the end of the game.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 04:09 PM) Ratliff and Paea practiced today. They were limited, but both of them were in helmets. Getting those two in the lineup would help a lot in the run game. They get healthy with Briggs and then if they squeek into the playoffs Tillman comes back........

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 24, 2013 -> 08:53 PM) I'm just trying to stimulate discussion and a lot of signings and trades are already happening . As was the case at the trade deadline Hahn waits everything out for the best deal but that can backfire. I know we signed Abreu and that's great . I just hate coming here and seeing nothing new so I thought I'd get opinions on how people are reacting , if it helps us, hurts us or has no effect on us. I'm find with being patient and seeing what's in store. So far the answers are good except for SS2K5's I liked Coffey, oh and I called it wrap after Calgary went up 2-0, sigh.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 10:26 AM) Might want to check northwestern's record... I know their record but it would still have some interest in the Chicago area as opposed to a GoDaddy Bowl game. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 08:17 AM) Sheesh, you can listen to Grobstein but you cant stand Holmes? Isn't Grobstein's over night show something different now, the guy.....Farrell that used to be on the Howard Stern channels I think

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 08:12 AM) Did you really just compare the bandits and sky to the hawks? Along the same lines, I compare them to the Bulls.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 08:52 AM) Because in 2020 when the game happens NIU will suck and everyone will say your OOC schedule included a s***ty MAC team instead of a major conference foe. Games are being scheduled 10 years in advance. The best MAC team 10 years ago? Miami with Big Ben at the helm. How do these teams that switch conferences get the games scheduled. They also added an extra game a year or two back. I think some games are locked in, the major OOC games Texas/OSU, ND/Michigan, I think the patsies are added a little later along with the conference games. The fact is teams will not travel to Dekalb, you wanna play NIU, play them at Soldier Field. Major teams want to play in major stadiums. As they should. If the American conference, I do not even know what that is, gets an automatic bid, NIU makes it no worse. Now with Fresno, NIU and that silly American conference game the BCS games drop down in visibility. One of those make sense but all three, nope. Northern needs to pass Fresno to get in. Iowa is actually looking like a decent win fro NIU. NIU has also won big recently and is playing its best football of the season. That along with a tie into the Chicago market gives them a decent marketing niche. The best thing for Northern would be a Gator or Outback bowl against another 10-20th ranked team. Sadly, that is not an option. A good game would be New Year's Day, NIU V Northwestern or even NIU v Notre Dame at the good ole Soldier Field or the Wrigley Field. Chicago really should have built a dome stadium. -
I find it kind of funny that nobody got in last year yet this year is the deepest group and guys may not get votes in order to keep others on the ballot. Thomas, Maddux, Glavine and Piazza should all get in. That is it. Next year Bonds and Clemens. Makes the PED statement a little. Three players that have never been attributed to PEDs in then let the PED connected guys have their day next year.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 25, 2013 -> 09:56 AM) So I have high hopes for next week's Walking Dead episode, and I kind of understand why the last 3 episodes were necessary, but damn have they been pretty boring. I've read the comics, so I believe My expectations on this show have been lowered quite a bit. The governor storyline is very forced this year. It should have been intermingled more throughout the season. It seems like as the season was going nowhere they decided, hey lets do this, AGAIN.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 23, 2013 -> 09:14 PM) Hunger Games 2 was predictable and mostly stuck with the book formula, in the sense that it was that "bridge" movie to the finale and those always leave you a bit disappointed and waiting for the next installment. For those who've read the books, the ending (not the substantive results, but how they arrive at them) is probably the biggest difference. Jennifer Lawrence definitely carries these movies, along with Woody Harrelson and Stanley Tucci. It was nice to see Jeffrey Wright get a chance to perform in front of a wider audience. Much better adaptation from the first one. I had forgotten the details from the book but I thought they finished the same way.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 24, 2013 -> 10:20 PM) Conte is absolutely brutal this year. Conte, Bush, and Hester can let the door hit em on the ass after this year. They are all brutal football players, imo. You forgot the good major, did not hear his name once. That major is Major Wright. He and Conte are god awful as is Bush. The rest of the defense is doing what they can but those asswipes were being counted and they both suck.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 23, 2013 -> 10:38 AM) Think positive thoughts ladies and gents…something like sprained ACL and torn MCL or a torn meniscus and MCL but healthy ACL. Thoughts with ##Drose## Even then you still have a very injury prone player.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 21, 2013 -> 12:41 PM) Hermione and Katniss, there I just saved you a ton of time writing books. You're welcome. Hermoine is kind of creepy but she does age so in the final book I suppose that is legal Katniss is a bad ass and the braid thing gets the juices flowing. She does seem a little too asexual though to be a good time I had to red the novel Rebecca in high school and lets just say I visited Manderley

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 21, 2013 -> 01:19 PM) Apparently 19 months just wasn't enough time... Derrick Rose (toe) admitted that his turf toe injury from 2012 is still bothering him. Can we call him injury prone or is it too soon?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 09:29 AM) 1st in goals scored, 22nd in goals against. The top 8 teams in hockey all are in the West, and only two points seperate those teams. Shows how strong the West is, and I think it's becoming obvious they need to change something with the OTL points, not enough seperation in the standings. Personally, I would go 3 points for a regulation win, 2 for a OTW, 1 point for an OTL. Makes the final weeks of the season all that more interesting. Seeing as home ice and the Presidents Cup mean dick this keeps it interesting and why NHL playoffs from game one until the cup is hoisted are pretty cool.
