White Sox @ Detroit Tigers, 3:10 PM, Fox
Harry Chappas replied to iamshack's topic in 2011 Season in Review
Getting beat is not the problem. Having absolutely no chance to win a game is the issue. Today there is no reason to look as pathetic as they are. -

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 05:06 PM) I lol'ed. If whatever he is good at is true he can be the roving hitting instructor or something. There really is no reason to think he is benefiting this team, they could not be any worse. JR likes him so they can keep him on the payroll. -

Well I watched this game for two innings. Too nice outside to waste a nice day. I hope this team has a contingency plan as this is not getting any better for the foreseeable future. -

Something really has to give with this team right now and Morel being demoted is not it. I see nothing positive to look for except maybe Quentin and Konerko. Enough with Greg Walker you would think at some point he would ask to be reassigned or something. This is a bad team that is getting lucky from time to time to win a game. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 03:55 AM) Who decides when postponed games are to be made up? The Twins and Indians got rained out tonight and they didn't schedule a double header for this weekend. Not only does that seem like something that should be made up ASAP as opposed to scheduling something in the future (not real reason I'm upset), but the Twins will almost certainly be healthier and playing better and the Indians more banged up and s***tier when the teams finally do meet. THAT'S BULLCRAP Depends on how often the visiting team comes back to town.

This year will end before the trade deadline with a firesale
Harry Chappas replied to johndyce's topic in Pale Hose Talk
When was the last time Konerko's average was under .300? He has quietly turned into one of the most consistent hitters in the game. Too bad the guys around him have very little to non consistency to their game. KW and firesale scares me as I recall the great Ray Durham trade. -
At least the bullpen got the day off. Send Pena to the DL and bring up anyone withe a pulse. Beckham and Rios are killing this team as I Will give Dunn a learning curve to DH and a new league.

QUOTE (Andrew @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) C'mon boys! Verlander looks like he's rattled.... Thanks, Alex. That's ok the seven pitchers are batting until Quentin comes up again.
-
41 degrees and raining and the Tigers are not having any problems. The way Konerko and Quentin are hitting his offense should be much more dangerous. Here come a meaningless Dunn hit. Mark needed a much better outing.
-
Let Pena throw 2.1 innings regardless Verlander will go all 9.
-
Losing this game is acceptable. The thing about tht White Sox though is that they pitch to contact and then do not put the defense behind the pitcher to give them a chance to succeed
-
Rios is adding nothing now for really good money. Pretty good bet this game is over.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 06:38 PM) Verlander has no-hit stuff tonight. I'd suggest the Sox build up that pitch count. He will throw 130 pitches anyway. Hope Mark has his good stuff.

MLB Attendance problem? (KC, CLE, Cubs, NY teams)
Harry Chappas replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
I bet the season ticket base for all of these teams are about what the announced attendance is. Nobody walks up in April and there is little presale in these cities for April games agasint divisional teams or crappy teams. You roll the Yanks or Boston through here in April and you will get a big crowd, yet somehow our schdule always has them coming to town in the summer. -
Lapierre with a 10 minute match I think so there goes most of the fun
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 10:17 PM) Is this the first game the team has had a lead since the last game of the Oakland series? they were beating Weaver 1 -0
-
Edler may be suspended for a couple of games with the elbow to the head. Alright John Scott go have some fun. Ben Smith back on the ice and he looks to be looking to make a run at someone.

Hoss Keith LOOOOOOOUUUUUU

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 08:41 PM) Jeff Gray really isn't a bad mop-up reliever. Good sink on a pretty strong fastball. Omar needs to get more playing time, and I have a feeling he will. He has decent enough stuff. Kind of what Tony Pena should do. Hopefully Pena is gone when Peavy comes back. Humber and Gray can give some nice innings out of the pen and should do well in extra inning games.
-
Refs just wanted to keep it close for the last five minutes.
-
This is what I am talking about when I say this team is inconsistent from one inning to the next. This is now a whole new ballgame.
-
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 06:40 PM) Game early, but looking much better for the Sox. if we win what is there to gripe about tonite? The fact that teams run at will against the Sox.
-
Rex is our quarterback.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 11:59 AM) Oh, and Edwin Jackson looks far better than Daniel Hudson so far this year. I like that trade and hope Edwin is tired of moving around and elects to resign as I think he Coop could be good together long term. Hudson against some of those NL lineups should do decently. The pitching v. hitting in the NL are liteyears apart.
-
They are too wildly inconsistent in every facet of the game to be taken seriously. Whatever it was that Ozzie used to do to get the best out of his team is gone. They should be winning on talent alone and they are not.
