With Harang and Arroyo in contract years, should they pitch for a new contract they could be worth holding on to.

I gotta tell ya I like watching the Bulls as long as Deng stays healthy. I think I hate Tyrus Thomas and Ben Gordon. NBA officiating is terrible. -
If the cubs unload Bradley, I could see them signing Dye to play RF

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 04:44 PM) 1 foot injury, you'd think he's had 3 or 4 by the way people talk about him. Didn't he have TJ surgery as well?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 08:51 AM) MLB has been cutting back costs. That is why it is around O'Hare this year, instead of some resort. The Winter Meetings are the bigger meetings at the resort I believe as that is where the freee agents sell themselves and what not. The GM meetings are usually just to lay groundwork.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 02:34 PM) Please, no '85 Bears. I dont want the meatballs coming out of the woodwork. He'll come cheap that is all I am saying. I would rather get a proven guy in here as HC and DC. Look at what a good DC has done in N.O. and Denver. As for Fisher is not going anywhere as he wins with the budget he is given and develops a respectable but unspectacular team annually until this year. -
Danks and Floyd are no longer cheap. Dotel and Dye are Type A free agents by the way.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 01:09 PM) I've slowly warmed up to the idea of Flowers backing up AJ and getting time at DH... Guillen has stated before that he will not use his second catcher as a DH.

I blamed Ron Turner but in all actuality the offense while not rolling is kind of like the White Sox bullpen in that the defense does them no favors. I thought the line did fine yesterday and the play calling was better. The problem was that you know Ron Turner was watching the defense and knowing that he had to score almost every possession. The reason Lovie needs to go is that the defensive scheme does not work with this personnel and this is his personnel. There is a ton of money invested in the defensive side of the ball and they need to earn their money. While Shannahan should get he job, I get he feeling that the job will go to Leslie Frazier. Isn't he the Bengals DC? -

When Lovie was given that big contract he was also given a say in personnel decisions. Angelo has his flaws but this thing rests with Lovie now. This defense is a joke and he is solely responsible for it. -
Sox acquire Mark Teahen, $$$ for Getz/Fields

Starting each season knowing you have a very limted chance of competing has got to be tough and then when June rolls around and your season is over every year has got to be even harder unless you are Miek Sweeney then it is fine because your are on the IR anyway. On top of this Teahan was moved all over the place. I think Buddy Bell and Greg Walker are key in this. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 03:07 PM) Wow, JorDanks is in the mix for the big club? Wow. Our OF defense would be alot better with him in CF and Rios in RF. Im not so sure about having him lead off though. Rios should play CF he seems to want to play there and is a GG'er -

I like Gibson. Thomas may get less and less playing time especially if he is going to be chucking the 20 footers. The refs in the NBA blow. -
I know that Hossa and Toews will help but Sharp needs to play better and the forwards outside of Kane and Versteeg are really nothing to write home about. For the love showered on Kopecky and his ability to get to the net, the power play blows. Nice to see Big Buff getting back to his old unproductive self along with Campbell. On the bright side the defense (other than Campbell) and Huet look really good.

Garfien reports Sox might "revisit" a Thome return

I am lazy to list his but the free agent DH role is so deep he may have to sign for a sickeningly low salary. -

Couple of things Walker should be able to help Teahan as they have/had similar approaches. I know Walker should have been fired but I digress. KW is saying Teahan will play third if nobody better is picked up to play third. Also, the bullpen will be better if the offense can help win games as the starters should all be able to go deep into games and the relievers will not have to protect a one or two run lead nightly. The bullpen can be shortened to 3 guys instead of 5 nightly. -

This move makes Beckham available if they deem that CJ and Nix can play second. Just saying. Teahan is fast enough as he is not a clogger. I think the Sox realized this season that the speed thing will not work at the cell. They need guys that can run the bases and have some power. This also adds a guy that can play multiple positions like Kotsay. This team needs subtle moves this offseason nothing major and I think they will be one of hte best teams in baseball. -
**Official Phillies vs. Yankees Thread**
Harry Chappas replied to knightni's topic in The Diamond Club
The Yankees winning is somehow good for baseball I guess. I watched very little post season baseball which is sad. Now when they go out and get Holliday and Figgins I can not care about next post season as well if the Sox do not make it. I wonder how they plan on building their rotation. What is sad is that a Kei Igawa signing can hurt a franchise but the Yanks can just shrug it off. I think the owners want the Yankees and Red Sox to control everything then they have an excuse for not spending. Kind of like now the McCaskey's have to spend money because of the cap. -
Now it is tough

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 2, 2009 -> 07:38 PM) I hate that they moved the time slot. I loved that and HIMYM back to back. I haven't been able to catch it as much. That show is great. With DVR technology I never watching anything live except for an occassional sporting event.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 01:56 PM) Hopefully it frees up some money long term, that is all I ask. Unload a couple of yonnger guys and make them take Campbell. This schedule is terrible it seems like the Hawks will play 3 times in 4 days and then get 5 days off.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Nov 1, 2009 -> 01:57 PM) When your "initial contact" is 4-400lb linemen, not much you can do. On the first down play he jumped in the air for some reason. Man should this game be a blowout. -

Kane with a scorer on his line is sick.

QUOTE (Willy52 @ Oct 30, 2009 -> 04:58 PM) Jenks Heat, do you only post when the Hawks lose? I find it funny that you're never around when they're winning. I guess I am just an asshole that way, oh well. Huet looks good and Campbell a -2 in the last 4 minutes of the period. This team again is proving that shots are not the problem, goals are.
