  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 02:46 PM) How does Davies have 7 strike outs today? It seems that the offense has been unable to really put a game away.
  2. This game has turned into one of those games that are stolen away. The offense needs to produce as the bullpen will have to go at least three innings.
  3. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 02:02 PM) I like Swisher a lot, but his numbers are down, and his OPS+ is 100, which is average, also his slugging is a lot lower than Jim's at .412. Still, Swisher tore it up in June and is playing CF basically full time. I expected more from him this year, but hopefully he will continue to see a ton of pitches and contribute down the stretch Swisher should be starting and Griffey and Konerko should be platooning. Swisher's versatility should get him the consistent at-bats. I again will state that Broadway's day is nice regardless as the defense has let him down.
  4. The bad defense is so magnified now as it has made Broadway throw about 20 extra pitches.
  5. Braodway can't put guys away. Way too many 6+ pitch at-bats.
  6. The sadder thing is that Konerko is batting 6th thus killing any opportunity for Ramirez to bat with runners on. Thome gets a pitch to if Captain Useless isn't behind him in that situation.
  7. I hate Orlando Cabrerra but I think he could use a day off every now and again.
  8. I'd rather see Anderson and Swisher out there as oppossed to Griffey and Konerko. I guess Ozzie believes AARP will not let him in if he makes such a move.
  9. Well tip the cap day at the ballpark. They should have a Hawk bobblehead day with him tipping his cap. I am really not liking General Soreness' presence on this team.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 01:15 PM) It feels like we're simply just giving this game away in order to keep Carrasco in the bullpen. The offense needs to step up that is why the starters are in there. Kyle Davies on the road should be pounded. The last two games were nice but not for the terrible defense in the 8th both games are 4-0 not real inspiring. The Royals offense is not so great that Broadway shouldn't be able to give 5 innings of 5 run ball which the offense should be able to overcome althoug hAlex Gordon just took an inning away from Broadway right there. No tipping the f***ing hat today.
  11. an agreement by NBC in 2003 with the International Olympic Committee to cut the size of its Olympic contingent, combined with the technology to send all high definition signals from Beijing, led to the Studio 8H operation. Sounds like the IOC wanted this not NBC.
  12. QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 11:32 AM) And we've been with out a starting pitcher, our setup man and the starting 3B. It takes some time, at best, to overcome that. We may not, but don't throw in the towel now. I wasn't throwing in the towel just trying to bring the Twins back down to earth.
  13. QUOTE (JFields27 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 10:16 AM) Its good but the August 21st and 28th off days can change this schedule for the 5th starter You skip the 5th starter and go with the other 4 on 4 days rest the rest of the year. You use the off days to push back the fifth starter. This is not a four man rotation and what teams with aces do all of the time. This is where the 1-5 starter mentality comes from. Everyone is skipped to get the number 1 pitcher in there. Again the workload on Danks and Floyd could be an issue.
  14. If the White Sox skip the 5th starter and use Vazquez, Buerhle, Danks and Floyd on four days rest the rest of the way, the 5th starter will face the following schedule; Home v. Seattle Road v. Baltimore Road v. Cleveland Home v. Toronto Home v. Detroit (will miss the Yankees on the road) Road v. KC (will miss Minnesota road series) Home v. Cleveland Not sure this is the best thing for the other four starters but it is an option.
  15. The Twins are where they are because the White Sox have played .500 ball since the 4th of July.
  16. Whoever starts today has a short lesh and Carrasco will be in there and that pitcher will be hoping on bus. I think Wise is moved as there is no need for him. I hope not Getz but whatever.
  17. Right noe Juan Uribe is a better asset to this team than Joe Crede. I jsut got home and the friggin game is over. I read the game thread and it sounds like Uribe saved two runs with his defense early in the game. Uribe is in my mind the best defensive thirdbaseman in baseball.
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) As big as homefield advantage is in the regular season, I still think it's going to be a bit overrated come playoff time. All the games are magnified, you get a ton of rest, the teams are essentially traveling together; the advantages are not nearly as clear. Sure, your team is built for your ballpark, and the fans are on your side (which doesn't seem to make a ton of difference) but you are just as (tired/rested) as your opponent and every team in the playoffs is a good team, or so it would appear. I don't think, come playoff time, home or road games are going to be that big of a difference. It's simply going to be matchups that decide who wins. You miss the biggest part of home field advantage. The guaranteed opportunity to win the game while your opponent has no such ability.
  19. AJ can't bat second and griffey serves no purpose on this team.
  20. Anyone see the Hungarian Water Polo game, gotta tell ya it was good.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 03:56 PM) Everett's such an offensive specialist. he makes Uribe look like silver slugger.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 03:40 PM) 3 But the Twins blew leads (one even more considerable) in consecutive games too...it happens. If you take away Crain or Guerrier from the Twins, they would be similarly hurting as the White Sox are without Linebrink. And whether it's nerve, lack of cajones or tiredness...we're finding out what happens when Thornton throws too many pitches...dating back to the Tigers overtime game. Seems like a regular thing though nowadays. You never know what you will get on consistent basis from any pitcher on this team. Joe Neshack (sp?) says hi.
  23. There is nothing consistent about this team except for prolonged slumps whether they are starters, the bullpen or hitters making over $7M a year. Real sad. How many leads of 3+ have the Sox blown in the last two weeks?
