Good Lord... (Stephen Strasburg)
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Mar 21, 2009 -> 07:59 PM) Yeah. Bad feeling he could end up with the Tigers, if he starts slipping. MLB draft is the only draft (well NFL sometimes this happens, but not like MLB) where the best players do not go to the worst teams. That really needs to change. Det is running low on cash. Washington will take. $50M for this guy is worth it. He will be their Opening Day starter next year.

Chris Getz named 2b
If Alexi and Getz mesh this year and do their job, what happens to Beckham........ I say this because Getz could be the player they need and want at the top of the order and have been loking for, for some time. This solidifes the defense as it allows Anderson to play center.

MLB Network 30 in 30
Gotta tell ya it was a pretty good piece. The MLB Network seems to not really bias anyone and are honest. Brian Anderson was all over it. This was the first place you would have heard Fields/Anderson at lead-off and the other media went with it.

3/20 Sox vs Giants
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 04:27 PM) It isn't to increase his trade value it is to get him ready to play CF everyday for the Sox I would imagine so as well.

3/20 Sox vs Giants
I think you are going to see Anderson play every day and get a ton of AB's in an effort to get him enough looks to start the season or increase his trade value. As for Jose and Bart, tomorrow and Sunday are more important than today. Hitters are way ahead of them right now. Also they are the #4 and #5.

Guillen throws more names in the hat for leadoff
Anderson at lead-off would be no worse than Owens or Wise.

Getz is the leader for 2B
I really do not think people understand how bad Owens and Wise are.......
-
Getz is the leader for 2B
I think Lilly makes the team as the 4th outfielder and back-up SS with Anderson starting in CF and Getz leading off. Lilly, Betemit, a catcher, and Wise/Owens make the team and Nix replaces Wise/Owens when healthy.

What ever happened to????
I was out of comission when NCORG or whatever he went by left his board. I followed him, HSC, Steff and.......Baggio? that dude was a great poster is he still around? What was the story with the Hawaiin dude (NCORG) that hung with Reinsdorf and was one of only three poeple to have seen the diminished skills clause. I remember when he called me a teenage punk who had obviously never been in the city of Chicago. I was workign in the Loop at the time and went off on him. Why'd he leave?

LOST!!!!
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 02:23 PM) I was going to say Pierre Chang's daughter, but that can't be right since we've seen her father before. Yes but Dr. Chang also started this season off with a baby scene which later included Daniel.......... What is Lepdius role in 1977 as he did not flash but maybe it was only the Oceanic 6 that could flash and thus another reason why Ben didn't as well.

LOST!!!!
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 11:25 AM) I guess this shows that Locke is in the present also and not in the past. Seeing as he spoke to the folks that Ben, Sun and Lepidus left behind, I would surmise that you are correct. I am going to go back and watch this season all over again. I am drawing a blank as to Ben being in a hospitla bed..... Lasst night's episode was good but it made me dizzy.

Sox and Angels, 3:05 pm CT
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 09:50 AM) Getz played 15 games in LF in 2008 with Charlotte, but that is the sum total of his minor league OF experience. He maybe could become a CF, but, even under the best circumstances, it would take some time to get acclimated. Sorry for not being clearer I did not infer that Getz would move to center instead that he would hit lead-off instead of the buffons that they are trying to force in there.

Mr Angelo, please trade for Jay Cutler!
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 09:12 AM) Im guessing it was B&B that roasted this guy? If you call them and start making outlandish claims they will definitely bully you into backing up that claim with some sort of reasoning. And that is usually when people say some duuuuuuumb things That is exactly what happened. The caller claimed that Orton could some better throws than Cutler and they kept yelling, "what throw"....then he got nervous and spouted out the deep ball. It was really funny actually.

Sox and Angels, 3:05 pm CT
I think the team is trying to keep the pressure off of Getz by feeding the media and everyone all kinds of s*** about the pressure he will be under. This spring is only adding ot his confidence and helping him out. On April 6th he will be the first White Sox to step to the plate and Brian Anderson will be in center. The radio talk about Wise and Getz made those guys sound like buffons. Owens and Wise have zero upside. This is not like Swisher last year where he had some sort of success that did not translate. Getz at worst will be Owens and Wise.

Mr Angelo, please trade for Jay Cutler!
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 10:03 PM) Some dufus called up the score yesterday and was arguing we didn't need Jay Culter because Kyle did everything better than him. When pressed on what specific QB function Kyle did better, the moron said. He throws the deep ball better. They ripped him up and down the radio for that dumb comment. If you believe that Kyle throws a good deep ball, then you don't watch the games. That was priceless although he was bullied into saying something.

Sox and Angels, 3:05 pm CT
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 04:35 PM) That isn't the worse idea, especially if the Sox happened to have another left handed bat for the middle portion of the order. Unfortunately we don't. It would be very unorthodox but I could see some plusses in having Thome up there. The negative of course is that you are taking him out of a lot of potential RBI opportunities. And creating them for Quintin.
-
Sox and Angels, 3:05 pm CT
If AJ can bat second, why can't Thome? Should a guy get on first and be able to steal or get to second, the shift is out of play.

Sox and Angels, 3:05 pm CT
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 04:11 PM) Poor kid just wasted away his best chance of starting in the big leagues. How'd he get on? What'd Wise do?
-
Sox and Angels, 3:05 pm CT
Thome got down the line there.
-
Sox and Angels, 3:05 pm CT
Whoever is playing second is a far better player any CF that we have and attempt to lead-off with. This is just stupid.
-
Sox and Angels, 3:05 pm CT
Wow does Wise suck.
-
Sox and Angels, 3:05 pm CT
The White Sox need a back-up catcher that can throw runners out. The only guy that has thrown anyone out is Miller. The others are like a combined 0 for 8. Teams are really going to take advantage of this.
-
Mr Angelo, please trade for Jay Cutler!
I heard yesterday that the Lions are thinking of offering the Number 1 pick for him. Essentially Stafford for Cutler..... With the money that first round picks are guaranteed every year I would trade it every time unless there was a real need when my pick came up.

No Obama for Opener
I hope Pat Quinn gets the call. He is a more true fan than both Daley and Obama.

Bullpen Discussion
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 08:24 AM) OK, I corrected Carrasco's numbers, and added Roy Williams, so here is the new list: Egbert (6 games): 11 IP, 1.64 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 10/3 K/BB Carrasco (7 games): 10 IP, 5.40 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, 8/3 K/BB Poreda (3 games): 9 IP, 2.00 ERA, 0.67 WHIP, 6/1 K/BB Marquez (3 games): 8.1 IP, 4.32 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 7/2 K/BB Williams (8 games): 8 IP, 0.00 ERA, 0.50 WHIP, 5/2 K/BB Broadway (5 games): 7.2 IP, 5.87 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, 7/5 K/BB MacDougal (7 games): 7 IP, 3.86 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, 11/5 K/BB Russell (6 games): 6.1 IP, 11.37 ERA, 1.89 WHIP, 7/3 K/BB German (6 games): 6 IP, 6.00 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 4/1 K/BB Wassermann (6 games): 5 IP, 7.20 ERA, 1.80 WHIP, 5/1 K/BB Though I doubt that Williams is under serious consideration. He hasn't seen the majors since 2005, has a career ERA of 6.68, and was signed to a minor league deal. But he is left handed which the Sox only have one of for sure. I think they take a flyer on him and hope for a career year type of thing. Richard and Poreda can be sent down to start.
