  1. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 09:39 AM) Yeah someone in the Jose Molina mould (defensively) would be ideal for a backup catcher. I'd like I-Rod
  2. I have an odd feeling it has something to do with the goaltending situation.
  3. I thought McCain won and then I remembered his running mate and everything fadeed to black and the entire debate was rendered irrelevant in my mind.
  4. $3M does not sound like a -lot. I would think the GOP would want to counter this....
  5. I think Sonnenstine or Jackson could be their closer or even Kazmir if he can not get past he 6th inning on a regular basis. Sonnenstine's control screams lights out closer to me.
  6. I understand that but I find it funny that the guy that replaced him was able to get his team to win do what Lou was suppossed to do. He was a joke with that franchise because he needed to manage not just sit on a big payroll and roll guys out there. I am not comparing his Tampa teams with Maddon's team just the idea that he bailed on that franchise as soon as living in Tampa and close to his family got old and bigger pay day came along. He was brought in to get the franchise to respectabiltiy and he quit on them. I know the GM switch probably helped greatly as well as the trades that brought in Kazmir, Navarro, Jackson and Garza. I just chuckle that the guy that replaced him has won 6 playoff games while Sweet Lou the World Series baseball genius has none.
  7. Does anybody other than myself find humor in the fact that if Lou Pinella was the baseball god that he was thought to be he could have been in the situation Maddon is in? I understand the team is grossly differrent now than it was when he was there but Rocco, Crawford and Josh Hamilton were still in the pipeline with high ceilings. I alos love the older PED guys falling by the wayside. The parityin baseball is really cool to see. Also the Sox series was much closed than this series. The White Sox were in every game.
  8. The thing about retiring 77 as oppossed to the others is that there are banners for those other teams hanging throughout the park. Retiring 77 is the reminder that it may have saved the Chicago White Sox.
  9. If anyone listened to Bernstein on Friday afternoon when they were discussing fighting in hockey it was hte most condesending piece of crap I had ever heard. You could tell he does not liek hockey and this was his way of telling us. How he can lovethe NBA is beyond me. I really do not like either afternoon show. MJ&H seem be taking more of a warm and fuzyy feel to it.
  10. Times I stand up Any concert where the music is loud enough to not hear the person next to you Any type of fight of altercation 9th inning of a no-hitter or world series/playoff game (final batteror last minute of game your team is winning is ok especially with 2 strikes) hot chick leaves sitting view national anthemn after that it is all aribitrary if you ask me
  11. Thanks, you see I think people watch the cub fans and think that is what we are suppossed to do out there. The inability to judge a flyball is comical but I understand that as I suppose most folks only get to see that perspective once or twice a year. Sure I could have dropped a Slayer's gonna get ya next year and see if she understood but at that point I didn't care. I prove my "fanness" by yelling out the triva answer and guessing the attendance within 1,500 people before the number goes up. I really can do this except on the give-away nights where the free tickets do not count. I resist standing up and cheering on the 2 strike thing because as a pessismistic Sox fan I think it is going to inspire the batter to get a hit. I really do believe this and do not cheer on two strikes, ever. I can see from my seats in LF that Aaron Rowand and DeWayne Wise can not judge fly balls or take good routes to balls while Griffey and Brian Anderson are good at it and therefore will boo Wise when he plays what should be a simple single into a double or triple.
  12. I was at the last 5 home Sox games and all were great. I attended 22 games this year so I think I may know a couple of things about being a fan. I had two moms from Orland question my fandom on Sunday because I was not standing up and cheering on the 1-2 pitch with nobody out in the first inning. They had no problem with me talking to their kids all game about baseball though. After the game they both told me and the guy I was with that we are not real fans. I looked at her and told her that she has no business telling me how to be a fan or how to act. I was excited and happy but was not going to stand and cheer every pitch. On Monday I had people all around yelling at me to artifically get excited during the game. Look, I get up and cheer at pivotal points during the game. 2 strikes with two out and runners on. Tying run at the plate, stuff liek that. I am a typical pessimistic Sox fan. I rationalized in July when the Sox played in Texas and KC that this team was not that good. I echo Fathom's statement that the July losses hurt more than Monday's I am not sure why but I think last Tuesday was all I needed from this team for this year.
  13. People in tight clothing really creep me out. Most chicks shouldn't wear clothes that tight either as the over hanging girth is not pretty and a good number of chicks have this.
  14. You know what I found odd, I sit in a part of the park where you can see the Sox dugout. OC keeps all of his stuff down in the corner by himself, helmet, bat, etc. I found this odd, I am not sure why, I just did. OC kind of grew on me though. He seemd ot have Jose Valentin type mental lapses and made some stupid plays. I am really neutral on him and realize there may not be better alternatives. He seemd to be a guy that had a personality defect and may have been misunderstood. While I know nothing of his psyche he just seemed to be different in his personality. Sprinting out of the dugout on the Ramirez slam was cool and flew in the face of all I thought I knew of him. He seemed kind of like an outcast or someone that has trouble fitting in with people......he also seemed to be.....not sure how to put it......a little slow. Although that is simply from watching him on tv so I could be way off base. Boston gave up on him in a heartbeat so I am not sure what to make.
  15. I was there on the ramp and I'd hear boos as much as I didn't hear anything for him.
  16. Defense should be pretty good behind Buerhle today. Maybe ANderson could have a King Felix day. I like Swisher in the 2 hole and think this is a good time for him to shine.
  17. If they are playing the shift against Thome he really oughta try and bunt.
  18. I think the mental thing is that media and fans tell them they have been great for so long that they begin to believe it and do not feel they need to really work toward actually achieving. They are viewed as winners while actually being one of the biggest losers in sports history.
  19. Rafael Furcal and Manny Ramirez are in the Scott Boras post season Carlos Beltran free agent showcase. They are scary. Joe Torre is an equalizer like none other, I do not know why but he is. Rich Harden was hitting 85 on the gun with his fastball in New York last week. Lilly's role for this series is to back up Hardan and Zambrano if they are not healthy. The cubs are constructed to shut out bad hitting teams and pound bad pitching. They are made to win a lot of games in the NL. As for the playoffs, who knows.
  20. He was backing up Uribe as Balfour seems to have a Zambrano quality of yelling at hitters. OC struck out and that sucks but you know what, I liked it and I am actaully starting........oh god I can't beleive I am saying this.......liking him down the stretch.
  21. I have no reason to believe that Chris Young will be a better MLB player than Brian Anderson.
  22. The problem with the Paniagua game was that he acted like a douchebag while getting hit around and fired up the Twins.
  23. There are no moral victories in the playoffs on a team basis. Individually maybe.
  24. Why is Kemp playing so shallow? I think he should have got both of those balls. Here comes Broxton.
