I think KW and Griffey will work out a deal that he will agree to decline arbitration so the Sox offer arbitration and still get the pick but he does nto agree to it. The Sox gave him a pretty good opportunity this year.

Has the McCain campaign finally given up on trying to make a point or is their simple goal to and throw out as much stuff as they can to try and get the media to attach to something negative about Obama. I went from 50/50 until Palin hopped on board and then I ran to Obama and now McCain is becoming an embarassment. He almost makes no point at all about what he wants to do. Obama will be uncovered as a member of the PLO by the weeknd if McCain gets his wish. The Obama / Bubba show in Florida last night was pretty good. Oh and the GOP will be jumping on Clinton explaining that Obama ran to Warren Buffet and Clinton's economic advisors to help him understand the economic crisis as you see the president has all of the answers and needs no assistance.

Official 2008-2009 NHL Thread

I am a novice at speaking of hockey but it appeared to me that Huet comes out of the net way to easily. -
I know it won't happen but remember the electoral map when Reagan won in 1984. Didn't he win every state except Minnesota, Mondale's home state. This, the '79 blizzard ramifications and Bernard Epton are my earlist political memories.

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Oct 24, 2008 -> 06:02 AM) Thanks Jordan. This thread has become pretty slow, but several people pop in from time to time offering their encouragement. There are a few others that are still working to lose weight as well. But my situation was unique in that I had a ton to lose and the timing was right for me to commit, having turned 40 a couple of months after I started. This week I dropped 4 more pounds, putting me at 263, a total loss of 99 pounds. I really wanted 100, but I can't drop it as fast as they do on tv. I have to get to work, but this weekeind I'll go into a little more detail on what I am doing. When I pass 100 lbs next week, I'll try and put up a few before and after pics. Thanks to all who are still participating and for those of you providing support! Every little bit of motivation helps. I am finding the show difficult to watch this season for some reason. I was not part of this thread but lost 35 from Jan through Apr and have held steady during the tough months (summer, Sox, beer). I need to control it through the end of the year and then hope to lose another 20 from Jan through Opening Day again. I think I have my life routine down after 37 years.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 24, 2008 -> 01:34 PM) Pat Buchanan asked what would happen if SNL mocked Michelle Obama. My response would that would be... what would happen if Michelle Obama was in a debate and spoke the whole time in "South Side" slang and gave a shout-out during a debate? I think if Michelle Obama got up on stage and did this it would go over great if America could really laugh that off, which they can't, which is why she can not and SNL will not do that. The morons that are the general public would really not get the joke and I am talking about the gun toting run to Jesus crowd.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 24, 2008 -> 10:31 AM) Palin: I never wore those $150,000 worth of clothes This could be the most pointless conversation being held at this time. Icould care less where her clothes came from. I know the government wastes a-lot more of this money than anything. To me I kind of like the idea that she does not have a fancy enough wardrobe. This is as pointless as anything covered in the media thus far.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 23, 2008 -> 01:48 PM) Gotta love McCain and the GOP's constant effort to divide. WOW, their stance on abortion flies directly in the face of the letting poeple decide line. What a dofus, he is almost becoming as big an embarassment as Palin.

QUOTE (Soxy @ Oct 22, 2008 -> 10:12 AM) I don't read those threads. I read this one. And yeah, it's sexist. I don't like the woman. I think she's dangerous, unqualified, and, well, you all know. But I can't stand sexist jokes about her. There are plenty of other jokes to be made. Now if it was a sophisticated joke about the Republican party about how they nominated a totally unqualified candidate, and suddenly awoke to their "nakedness" in her nomination, then, yeah, I would laugh. I think the way it was worded made it comical to me and give him credit for it. It was in a tasteful context which while in a hot chcik kind of way is one way but it could also be used as a knowingless leader which is how I also took it and made it more funny. You see the story is of an emporer, short chubby guy marching down the street in his "clothes" and thinking he is the s***. This is kind of how I see Palin. Not in a sexist way but in a way that I believe she is well out of her league. I believe her inabiltiy to actually have an interview with a source that may challenge her is scary as hell. Her inabilities I find insulting as she is in serious contention for the mist powerful job in the world and she is very smug about it. In the genereal election thread it stated that her own state is seeming to not really like her. I think the joke worked on a couple of different levels and approve of AHB's message. If McCain choose Bloomberg he would be walking away with this race right now.

Who would you rather have at bat in 9th inning Sunday night with the man on first. If you think every Red Sox fan was wishing they had Manny in the 7th, 8th or 9th on Sunday you are kidding yourself.

House Democrats Contemplate Abolishing 401(k) Tax Breaks
Harry Chappas replied to StrangeSox's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 21, 2008 -> 11:37 AM) As much as I dislike Obama's tax policy ideas, I think even he isn't so economically and politcally stupid as to support this type of move. I agree but if it garners enough support there must be an overriding ideology by the Dems that it would be benefical to pass this through. The fear of Dems controlling policy making ability and even having ideas like this scares the s*** out of me. -

Wow are politicans stupid. Does this mean there would be no more 401(K) and everything is then a Roth IRA type of contribution? I really wish McCain would have choosen a better running mate. -

Joe Maddon really has misused his bullpen in game 5 and again today. Drew swung at that pitch. The two strikes on Pena were terrible. MLB dropped the cubs from their post season I can't beleive what I am seeing. I love how the Red Sox can work the count and make a pitching staff labor.
