QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 19, 2008 -> 12:05 PM) Maybe Crede and Orlando are both leery of getting injured/re-injured or lots of contact in light of their pending Free Agency? If that was the case, I think I would designate OC for assigment right now if not for the fact that Ramirez, Uribe or Getz would be hitting leadoff and we'd lose the draft picks. I have never really watched him much but that could be his M.O. and why he wasn't kept by the Red Sox. Gage is a big fan so I would defer to him on his history of playing "softly" around the bag.
-
I think it depends on the defensive positioning based on a right handed pull hitter. I personally think that Cabrerra is afraid of any sort of contact around the bag. Watch him on any DP attempt he flies up in the air and out of the way even if hte player is not coming hard. On throws in and steal attempts, he is nowhere near the bag and is reaching to make the tag. He is a tad below average if you ask me.

Chicks on trampolines and a Sox blowout. I need a beer, a cigarette and a cold shower. CQ and Ramirez make KW look like a genius.

QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 09:46 PM) He pitched like 39 scoreless inning, but broke the streak already. It was 3-0 when I got home and did other things until 9:00 and read the game thread to get me up to speed. My computer was slow and I was watching chicks on trampolines . Sox Win. -

I just turned on the game. Getz looks like Joe Crede. I thought I had entered the Twilight Zone and he was back. -

The last two days I have boycotted doing anything other than the reading the game thread. As I finished rading all 18 pages for the last ten minutes I want to point out a couple of things. Wanne the way you are talking about covering second is correct when the SS is the best player on the field (up until college). After that the positioning of infileders is based more on hitters tendancies. I did not see the play though but it sounded like a Ramirez miscue as I believe Beltre is a pull hitter hence OC would be toward the hole. I could be wrong. Ramirez is not a SS but I agree that if the pitcher misses he kills it. How when ripping on Hawk is Sudden Sam McDowell not somehow on the team. BTW is Catfish dead? What's the inning and score? Gotta tell ya chicks on trampalines are hot and Team Handball is a great sport that I think we should all start playing. -

ESPN Radio had some stupid poll of who is greater Phelps or the cubs. The cubs were getting 64% of the vote, I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP! -
I guess if Carrasco and Richard are not over worked tomorrow it will be one of those good old bullpen days as Richard pitched the 9th today. The official listing is still TBD maybe the Washburn thing is still an option?

I stand by my criticism that the Catch-all approach has really hurt this site. Also this place is a place to vent when things are going bad. When things are going good, we take the dog for a walk, wave to the neighbor and talk nicely to fiends and what not. The problem I think with White Sox baseball right now in Chicago has to do with the fact that it seems the cub has won the world series and nobody really even looks at the Sox. Compare the early season banter for Fukodome and now Harden and Samardjia(sp?) as compared to Quentin, Alexi Ramirez, Floyd and Danks. It really is sickening how they are fawned over.

My White Sox player of the game is Gio Gonzalez. The one from last year that was so good he was traded and allowed us to right all that ailed us for one day. What an easy game to watch.

That Ramirez ab was funny in that neither of the first two pitches looked like strikes and Ramirez seemed to think so and then dropped a hammer and crushed that pitch. Anderson and Wise in. I'd like to see Quentin come out too. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 04:02 PM) It was a joke Betsy...sorry, I should use green more. I believed you too, thought is was odd but as bad as the NL is I thought it was possible based on interleague. Your Konerko crack was a joke too right? -

Anderson should have been in this game when it became 8-0. There is nothing good Griffey is going to do here other than incur some sort of general soreness. Swisher and Wise should also replace Quentin and Dye shortly. -

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) Uribe has come to play this weekend. You missed Friday's gam I take it. Nice job by Uribe reclaiming his status as trying to help us forget about Crede. Good to use a decent approach offensively against Gio, need to bullpen proof this game with a nice continuous barage. In the trib today it sounded like Gardenhire seemed to get flack on Guerrier and he kind of called him out. -

That 100M was sick. The cameras around Phelps was incredible. Just read the cubs lost. Nice. -
Just got back from demolition derby. Watched the first six innings and the inconsistency of this teams offense is sickening. The A's are not good...to talk about not getting swept and being happy to have won 2-1 is pathetic and just sad. I am fine with the split but the stupid and sloppy play is maddening. They need to wake up or October baseball will be a myth come mid-September.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 04:40 PM) I'm not a Greg Smith fan. He sucks. So did the guy last night. These type of pitchers will allow the Sox hitters to get thmeselves out a majority of the time.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 04:33 PM) Put CQ in motion, we need something to changeup the rhythm of this game. too good of a pick-off move.
-
I gotta go back to an overriding theme that I ahve brought for a couple of years now. the advanced scouting on this team is either nonexistent or the execution is not htere. To continue to belabor a point, if a guy can not hit an offspeed pitch even if he knows it is coming, throw it. The Sox seem to think, "well he thinks a pitch he can not hit is coming, so let's throw a pitch he can hit as he won't expect it." and said player ets a hit. this is just plain sad.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 04:24 PM) Danks is pitching scared this inning. That or he has nothing. You would too with this defense.
-
I need to vent for a second. The pathetic defense is killing this team and hitters that are unable to contribute consistently are trotted out there while defensive players sit and watch. I have never seen a team that drops as many pop ups as the White Sox. They look like an 8 year old team out there on defense. The inconsistency on offense is another issue. There is no reason why this team should not average 5 runs a game with the way Ramirez, Quentin and Dye are going. The at-bats that are simply given away with poor appraoches and lame attempts are nausiating. There is no reason way Brian Anderson neer starts over players hitting below .235 and have no defensive ability. That's all.
-
The Sox struggle agaisnt fundamentally sound teams like the A's, Boston and Minnesota. The A's suck and they may sweep this weekend. reminds me of Septemebr '06 when they ended any hopes by simply crushing hte Sox.

s*** players galore lighting up the Sox tonight and the tip of the hat game. Night all.
