  1. As good as an outing that it may have been he really needs to consistently pitch well throughout hte game. The bullpen still needs to get nine outs. It would be nice for the offense to continue hitting. Thome should pinch hit for Fields here. Is there a third catcher on the team? Would like to see AJ hit here. They will come in later in the game and a LOOGY will get them out.
  2. Why can't they just make it easy and continue to roll along. The starters need to go deeper into games. Javy will be luck to get through 6 today.
  3. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 11:37 AM) just to elaborate also...the difference between #1 swisher and #2 adam dunn in pitches/plate appearance is equal to the difference between #2 adam dunn and #13 mark reynolds http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/battin...mp;endDate=null In May some time my brothers-in-law were ravinga bout how Fukodome was leading the league by a large margin. Now he can't even crack the starting line-up at $12M a year.
  4. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 11:34 AM) i like swisher, his average leaves something to be desired, but in terms of getting on base hes about as good as they come (especially considering his batting average is so low, mainly due to a fairly low BABIP), and he also sees more pitches per plate appearance than anyone in baseball by a significant margin....its too bad we have him hitting in front of uribe most games because if we swapped him and AJ he'd be on base for the big boppers and allow them to see more of the pitchers pitches... nice K, huge out here Ran out to grab lunch nice to come back and see Javy get out of this and get two more. I really want to like Swisher as I think he can do the thigns they need. I would like to see him in the 2 hole. Maybe he is just having an unlucky year. Saturday night killed me watching him.
  5. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 11:23 AM) why? he has a .350 obp and will have hit 25+ HR by seasons end...offensively thats better than crede has ever given us and people adore crede I am not a fan of Crede or Swisher as offensively they do the same thing that Quentin, Dye, Thome and Konekro do but not quite as well. This team need guys that can put the bat on the ball and get on base on a regular basis to break up a team's rhythm.
  6. Great now we get to hear and see how Nick Swisher is so good. I am still not happy with him.
  7. Swisher-Uribe-Fields Looks like we'll go to the bottom of 5.....scoreless.
  8. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 11:10 AM) Hawk always says how Javy can pitch 150, blah, blah, etc... today they might have to test that Pull up the Tampa game log from 8/23. This game is looking like a mirror image for him although the offense....well at least Dye showed up for a brief moment that day. That series seems to have killed this offense.
  9. Who was the last SOx pitcher to go 8 innings and who was the last to throw a complete game. Vazquez has averged 4 strikes and 6 pitches per batter through 3 innings. At this rate he will not make it through 6. Well at least Linebrink can get some work in as CY Sowers shouldn't allow much.
  10. I think not breaking up the line-up with a token LHH actually hurts. Thome hitting third today would have been nice. Maybe Josh can build up his trade value.
  11. Well at least he worked the count before he struck out looking.
  12. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 10:57 AM) BP fastball taken in a 2-0 count Both ofthose fastballs should have been crushed. Is there a more inconsistent team in baseball.
  13. Terrible at-bat right there and the epitome of our season. The Joe Crede pop out to second.
  14. This the season right here, I am only half joking. Yes Brian Anderson should never start again.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 10:49 AM) Please be more specific for those that can't watch. Cabrera with an 11 pitch at-bat that ended in walk. Made Vazquez work and fouled off good pitches. Then had a bone headed running play and was picked off. Nice job by Vazquez to get into the run down.
  16. Why can't a Sox hitter work a count and foul off good pitches.
  17. Sox have four hitters in the line-up today hiting over .250 THAT INCLUDES TOBY HALL.
  18. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 10:37 AM) whoa, what a nice surprise, just clicked the TV on which happened to be on WGN and poof a Sox game. What time was 1st pitch? Only a nice surprise if you have Jeremy Sowers in fantasy baseball First 9 retired with one ball leaving the infield. Has Hawk informed us that Sowers is learning from Lee and you can throw his numbers out as he is looking much better today.
  19. Didn't take Josh long to record that first K. Well at least Hawk can tell us how well he battled and worked the count.
  20. Maybe the Sox have not realized that they have seen Sowers before and therefore should not be able to hit him no matter what he throws.
  21. It's been 5 days since the last off day, maybe they just need another day off. This is becoming sad to watch.
  22. Rudy Gallardo's rehabbing is coming along nicely BTW.
  23. Sizemore just took an inning off of Javier's day right there. Also Swisher's OPS is .048 higher than Brian Anderson.
