What would White sox Fans Say
Watching the Tigers give games away as they have in this series makes me appreciate last year even more. If the Tigers do not come back and lose after I feel they should be in this I would be crushed.

Cora becomes bench coach
Wasn't there some pretty negative and nasty press associated with Razor Shines when he first came on board, 3 or 4 years ago. I know Backman got rave reviews while here but I thought for some reason that Razor Shines was trouble when he first started out even though he won a-lot. I could be wrong.

2006 World Series
Wasn't the Cards firstbase coach (Dave McKay?) the 83 team's bullpen catcher? I know Davey Nelson was the firstbase coach.

Mets/Cards Game 7
The Mets have a better offense than the Tigers. Weaver has looked good as did Suppan. In that big park, you never know....as hot as the Tigers were if they cool off a bit it may be a decent series.

SOX sent me a box!
QUOTE(chiguy79 @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 10:00 AM) Got mine yesterday, I am a full-season holder Me too. My ticket rep also said renewals are around 95% so there won't be much movement.

Rock won't be back
Throwing them out there for s***s and giggles. Carlton Fisk, Jeff Torborg, Jack McKeon, Joe Nossek, Buck Showalter, or my favorites Cookie Rojas or Don Zimmer.

Big Frank
This whole argument is stupid in the fact that Thomas was hurt until around the All-Star break and was a huge gamble. Anyone that thought last offseason that Thomas was going to be back healthy is lying. The A's could afford to gamble on this and it worked out great for them. The White Sox took a less risky gamble on Dye two years ago and look how that panned out. Thome is also 3 years younger than Thomas so he can produce for a few more years. This argument will be proven when teams come knocking to sign Thomas in the off season. My bet...he is back in the AL Central. Unless Oakland has a cheap option on him. On any given day there is a better than average chance he will get hurt.

Crede's new contract?
Lord it is going to be a long offseason around here.

Big Frank
QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 04:12 PM) Compare Frank and Jim's salary, then post those stats again. If the Sox keep Frank, they could have traded Gio, Rowand, etc for perhaps a piece that we needed, maybe say bullpen or a LF? Frank would have cost us 0 talent, and a fraction of Thome's salary. Jim was awesome, but he would have had to be exponentially better than Frank for the trade to be worth it. The Sox took a risk that Thome would be healthy and Frank would not be. Frank turned out to be healthy, but that was a risk the Sox were not going to take. Rock on Big Frank. So last November/July you were pissed they got Thome and let Thomas go. GMAFB

Big Frank
Please post the 93 numbers, an 1.122 OPS is pretty good in my book. He had 9 offical at-bats in 2000 there was a whole team's worth of failure there. There were far more reasons we lost both years than Frank Thomas. I am glad he is doing well on the big stage and hope KW and the White Sox wish him well.

Crede's new contract?
QUOTE(cuddlyboy26 @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 12:44 PM) They dont want to sign him long term. All the articles I am reading recently are they are anxious to get rid of him to make way for Fields. I now dont blame Crede and Boras at all for making negotiations hell for the White Sox. After a career year like Crede had, and building to that for awhile I would expect the organization to see me as their future and with them still preferring some unproven kid in that case I would also be making negotations a living hell for my team, and not be very open to advice on something like having surgery because they want me to. Please stop stating that the White Sox want Crede to have unnecessary surgery you have done this in two threads. NOBODY gains by him having surgery. He has broken down at the end of the last two seasons. Scott Boras does not care if he has 5 great months and then tanks in the 6th as long as the end numbers are there. The White Sox want Crede for 6 months. The thought that they are sending him off to surgery to lower his value is not very rational. A small slip along the way during the surgrery and his career could end. This is why Boras does not want it if you ask me. Remember the DB on the Bears who went in for some "Clean-up/cosmetic thing" and ended up having his ACL cut on accident. Nobody has surgery unless it is absolutly necessary.

KW to be on AM 1000 at 9:40
Think the Yanks would take Crede as part of an A-Rod deal and move Uribe to third or let A-Rod play third??????? ASSUMING A-ROD TANKS IN THE PLAYOFFS!

Soxfest prices doubled this year
My guess on the running of this event after last years and to an extent the Grinder Bash is that the Sox now have to try and limit attendance. I would think you have to look at how the cub convention is run. I think they are trying to rid the convention of simple autograph and memorabilia hawks and trying to price them out. At the same time making hte event enjoyable for the players and the fans that do attend. I also believe security is probably an issue with the crowd last year. Just a couple of thoughts.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 07:52 PM) I don't know if he's slower, it just looks like the 30/40/20 thing to me: first 30 feet down the line, he doesn't seem to run all that hard next 40 feet he seems to pick it up last 20 feet he seems to slow down I don't understand why he never seems to bust it all the way down the line No one else does why should he, I guess.

Tigers V. Sox
I wish they would change the intro to what the they used before the games last season and get rid of "The White Sox have won the World Series." Maybe it would be a wake up call. My prediction, Sox are hitless and down 2-0 through 3. 5-0 through 6 and 6-1 going to the 7th. I then finish my cocktail leave the park and wait until next season. I love crow and hold out hope but I am not real optimistic after watching over 140 games thus far.

And That's A White Sox Season
I am not sure if I have given up or just stopped trying to talk myself into believing they are not done which I thought they were after the second game in Boston. The blown opportunites are amazing. From this trip some things thet typify the season Pods stopping during a stolen base attempt (lose game), Dye not getting in position to throw a runner out at home (lose second game), over managing in the bullpen. When a guy has not thrown in over a week, try not to put him a position to fail (lose third game) and finally having a hitter 0-2 and then eventually giving up a three run bomb because you couldn't throw a good strike as well as the display crede put on at the plate. The reason this team is inconsistent is 1)The changing line-up especially in the lead-off slot does not allow for continutity 2) Poor hitting of Uribe (.265 OBP is disgusting) 3) Over-all bad play by pods wheather it is defense, hitting, striking out, or getting thrown out 4) In September relying on call-ups Logan and Sweeney especially 5) This team just seemed gassed the whole season I would be really pissed as I think we had the best team in baseball in 2003 and this season and we blew it while I thought the Indians were the best team last year. On paper means s***. Let's hope for a nice 11-2 finish to the season.........

Gload in left?
Who stole a base yesterday and who was thrown out in a crucial situation, which was followed by two more hits?????? I am not sure how fast Gload is but he hustles and that is enough for me to warrant an opportunity. Remember he would only start against righties and therefore would have a better jump the agaisnt a leftie. It is to late now anyway so the point is moot.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 10:47 PM) I think the bad ump call there changed the whole AB. Too bad. and the previous two at bats? Why even attempt at a ball that is about to hit you??????? Think Thome will ever get 100 RBI.....maybe when we are up or down by 8.

Bullpen update
QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) This isn't Spring Training. The Sox can't afford to have Ozzie keep trotting not-the-best-pitcher-for-the-situation out there so Ozzie can evaluate them. He has had all season for that. The Sox couldn't afford this since the ASB. They couldn't afford it in August. They certainly couldn't afford it in September. And yet Ozzie continues to put Hermanson, Cotts, McCarthy in crucial game on the line situations when better relievers are available. If Ozzie is "seeing what they are made of" he doesn't understand that the #1 priority is winning, not talent evaluation. Your missing the point. The other night when McDougal was not available his pre-September options were Riske, Cotts, or McCarthy. We have seen that movie before. He wanted to see if Hermanson is worth anything. He needs to use the pen and see what is out there. Other than McDougal, Thorton and Jenks, there is nobody. Guillen is hoping Hermanson can get him something. The pen will be fine if they make the playoffs but they need to get there and they need some help. A starter goes out there for the playoffs to fill in this gap. I get the feeling McCarthy is done for this season, playoffs included.
