  1. You really should do this for "Partridge Family" Mark Buerhle. Oh I forgot it is a money issue, no weight, no intensity yes that is it, it is an intensity issue. How'd your man thomas do after tinkering around with Colon's aluminum bat. About as good as the Tigers did using wood against Buerhle. Now that performance Friday, that was a stand up job.
  2. I only saw it on the ticker. Wow that is huge. And the cub b****ing about the zambrano no-hitter was a big topic of conversation. f***in cubs.
  3. His error in the fifth cost St. Louis Simontachi 15 up, 15 down, now the game is tied.
  4. 33, and the olympic tragedy aws never covered this crazy 10 days later. Come on if I have to hear one more time about Eric Heiden, Mark Spitz or Dan Jansen falling, I am going to puke. Edwin Moses is making a run at the Athens games, no pun intended, he is serious. I thought the article was going to tell of his passing, away that is, not the competition like in '81.
  5. Jim McKay and the Up Close and Personal segments are/were awesome. That is why they have 24 hour coverage, or close to it for the Olympics. Those athletes are usually one time things and the story is usually pretty good. They used to be about promoting the innocence and achievement in athletes, Eddie the Eagle being the exception. Now an Up Close and personal on Kobe in the Athens games would make me cringe. It just seems that with ESPN having four networks along with ABC, everything is about promotion and not sport. It seems that recently it is out of control. A case in point the story about....ah crap I forget his name but the lineman the was hit by Sapp. I thought it was cheap shot and they went on about the rehab which was all fine and dandy but the feeling I got was this was the beginning of a hype campaign for the Packer/Buc game in November. The hit was clean and although I did not agree with it, it is football.
  6. I was speaking of his fathers death and the national media attention.
  7. Nothing like taking the high road ah Larry.
  8. I pointed this out last week. Frank Thomas went through the same thingon a personal level but there was no media coverage. I believe the media attention is just ESPN trying to take a different angle on sports. Highlights and updates are no longer the main objective. They are beginning to try and advertise sports as a docudrama, as reality television instead of objective sports reporting. Kobe, Barry, etc.
  9. The best thing about this is the best hitter in baseball is some how right there in the running for a homerun crown. Whose personal tragidies did not lead off Sportscenter and whose resolve and focus will make him a favorite of mine and for many sox fans for decades to come. Sorry if I am getting emotional but I just hope Frank finds the spotlight he so greatly deserves. Playing first flawlessly in Ocotober for three days will show voters he is not purely a DH.
  10. Not with your Chicago White Sox!!!!!!!!!!
  11. That was my point not may people if any like JM and in St. Louis a little less than not many appear to like LaRussa. LaRussa's history keeps his job pretty safe. Dusty Baylor was not liked at all in SF. My point was that Tony is not as loved as the national scene would think, by the hometown.
  12. I am in total agreement with you.
  13. Buerhle is a finesse pitcher. JM likes to select teams that Buerhle won't face in the regular season to pitch against in Spring Training to limit the "look" other teams get. Is it possible that JM thinks we will make the postseason and in a few weeks the Yanks,a very savy hitting team would have an edge they would not get if they saw Buehrle yesterday. Just another idea into the JM thought process and soemthing that dare nto be talked of in the media.
  14. Poeple in St. Louis like larussa a little bit more than we like Manuel. Wheather you want to beleive this or not is up to you. He is by far the most academically learned person in baseball, or close to it. This allows him top talk a great game and make you feel he is right. He tinkers to no end. He is a good manger but not as great as his numbers. My point was only that Hawk is with the team and spoke of their feelings something he rarely does. It had nothing to do with his ability as a G.M.
  15. Why not pinch hit daubach? At least to get him a swing or two.
  16. Willie should steal, JM has been wanting to loss this game for four days now.
  17. Carl can flat out hit unfortunately instead of taking away the big hook by pinch hitting for Sandy Alomar and Konerko the genius flys by the seat of his pants. Konerko hits a long single 6-5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Crede pops out on the infield after a long at-bat. Bottom 6.
  19. Top 6 man on 1st two out Crede up as are the Yanks 5-3.
  20. Konerko tests the infields ability to catch a popup. valentin swinging wildly again then tests the outfield ability to catch a popup. I am losing faith in valentin as the days go by.
  21. As stated in another thread I was indifferent on the whole thing. Earlier in the year Loiaza was being pushed back. I think you pitch your best pitchers as much as possible and you don't look ahead. Playing odds and such should be left to Vegas. Wright has bailed out Cotts again. Cotts really could be 1-3 if not 0-4.
  22. JM

Harry Chappas replied to Soxfest's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He is 8 games over with a team that should be at least 15.
  23. Before the Neil Cotts debacle they were both, mostly hawk talking about how the clubhouse was completely against Buerhle getting pushed back. From two guys that are around this team their comments against JM were numbing. They spoke of how this came could have pushed the Sox to a new level and how Buerhle was f***ed. They went on to talk of the undue pressure on buerhle tomorrow and how badly this team wanted the sweep. KW looked like he was going to kill someone. I have never heard them talk like this before. Wanna see Buerhle comment on St. Louis now. Four days after coming of the DL Matt Morris is pitching on three days rest as St. Louis understands every game is important. JM believs that at the end of the season it is what it is and he plays no role in anything. What a f***ing asshole. I was indifferent on the situation until I heard Hawk and DJ break it down. What the f***. Did JM not see Cotts struggle to throw strikes. Many on this board sure did. well unlike Colon at least Cotts gave it everything he had.
  24. The best what? You talk about Colon not being the same here as before he got here. There is no saying Colon may not be hurt. You blast Colon's physical condition yet he turned one of the best 3-6-1 doubleplays you will ever see and covers his position quite well. Colon is a power pitcher that takes more out of you than a soft tossing lefty yet you will defend Wells condition (party life style) and mock Colon's which is much more muscle than Wells. I like David Wells and wished we had he and Colon but to mock Colon and defend Wells condition is foolish. Wells is injured becasue he is out of shape. Colon pitches well and works well with the big body. I think Colon is in much better shape than Wells as well. By definition Wells is the definition of Goo.
  25. If you don't want the back and forth, then get it right, it is NOT personal against Colon. It is strictly what he has done in a White Sox uniform. Nothing more, nothing less. His appearance is no more than 'easy' ammo to chide him, but the fact remains he has not pitched for us as he has for other teams, and other fans. That I take personally. I'll hug Steff, or HSC or Heather but I'll take a pass on you hairy ones. How about your thoughts on David Wells. Did he pitch at a much lower level than previous and look at what he had done since moving to a place he enjoyed. Yet not resigning him is one of the moves you point as being a KW mistake. There was no way he was signing with us. He used the D'Backs and he would have used us. You defend a guy that was 100x worse than Colon but then chide Colon who is pitching better than Wells and making about $4M less. I miss the rational here.
