  1. The funny thing is, you would think so wouldn't you. I do not get the feeling there are sensible moves made here. Remember this was the guy throwing Julio Ramirez out there before Chris Singleton, with Singleton coming off of a .300 season. How about giving up on Foulke, now that was a great judge of talent there. The topper being not pitching Koch or Paniagua against Cleveland up by four but doing so against the Twins and using Gordon in both games. Why isn't the more experienced well rested catcher playing after the day off? Right now we need the best guy out there and that is Alomar.
  2. Maggs is due $14M next year. If he agrees to a restructure along the lines of 5 years $50M, there is a chance he will be brought back. Sad as it sounds, he may be too good for JR and the White Sox.
  3. I think depending on what happens over the next week to a month, the next couple years could be drastically different. Lee, Ordonez, Reed, and Konerko all could bring some good pitching in return. We will for the first time realize the loss of Kip Wells. The signing of Colon or another top flight Free Agent pitcher will be the leading indicator. With over 2 million fans, attendance should be less of the issue. I think one of the four right handed bats will be moved. I see a move along the lines of Lee for Javier Vazquez or something like that. If Colon is resigned I see Ordonez being moved for something major. More so than making the playoffs the next two week will prove the fate of 2004 and beyond.
  4. In a division that should have been clinched by now.
  5. In a world of twisted reverse psychology, I only play against the White Sox. In the last week I am up a little over $400. $150 on the Twin this eve would be a good $225 to lose. The cub cost me $350 and mixed with the sweep of the Twins I was in a little hole but it was well worth it. I do have $50 on the Twins at 5 to 1 for the division. Made the bet around teh break. I also have the $25 on the cub to win their division at around 10 to 1.
  6. What if the genius didn't flip Garland and Loiaza. Who has pitched better over the last month? JM wanted to get a jump, well, poof, that blew up in his face yet again. Kind of like the jump we got in Detroit when we pushed Buerhle back. Maybe we should stick to the rotation. When he thinks we look stupid. Now Garland is pitching for the season, if Garland losses last eve, Loiaza pithces in the bigger game.
  7. They are competing in a division that they should be running away with. They have talent and are deep. To be where they are at is a dissppointment. Their weakness are easily compensated for except for the mindset and direction of the team. For that see JM.
  8. Why didn't Loaiza TELL Jerry he was that sick..? Rather than crying to everyone else..? Geez... I'm not a fan of JM's by any means, but it's pretty sick how he get's blamed for everything and the f***ing ADULTS on the field get a pass. When do they get to start taking some responsibility..? Remember when Rick White did this and he was brought in to pitch anyway, I think it was aginst Baltimore. I really think Jerry is on the take. I am serious he makes no good moves. Shouldn't at some point JM say, so how you feel today. Wheather he is serious or not?
  9. Valentin will be back next year becasue there is nobody out there. For $2-$3M, he is worth it. As bad as he is, his defense is pretty good and is lefthanded. What option do we have? It will be very interesting to see what happens if we are 2 out going into KC.
  10. That's pretty much what it comes down to. I don't see how 2 teams who were expected to battle for the division title all year long get completely different schedules in September when the gms count most. I realize in the end everybody has played the same schedule. But somethin just ain't right about us playing the Yanks and Red Sox in Sept while they're playin the Tigers and Indians. Look at the Cubs in their division. They've been playin cupcakes all month. It just doesn't seem right. At the beginning of the year the Royals looked like the worst team in the division. To blame the schedule is foolhearty.
  11. Come here at 7:05, I am sure the talk will be baseball. It is simply a topic on baseball to occupy our time throughout the day. Post something different.
  12. That is why the next two weeks are huge. If we win we get a good team next year, if we lose we get a team chalk full of question marks and FA losses. Garland, Loiaza, Buerhle, FA, FA is the norm for us. We will try and catch lightning in a bottle again.
  13. I think they are kind of letting Baines hang around to get a feeling for what he may want to do in the future. With he and Sandy Alomar we have some good guys on the bench for teh future of the organization.
  14. Yes. And when youre in that "zone" you will know what peace is. It doesnt equal a good manager I will admit, but if hes really as relaxed as he usually appears, hes one lucky man. I just dont see how thats something to make fun of. Try it sometime. How is that you have become so in touch with the psyche of Jerry Manuel? How do we not know that he really does not care what happens but the pay is good and he gets good seats for a ball game nightly?
  15. And why are we in the position we are in? This division should have been over around the time of the Bud Billikin day parade. You never heard me say I liked JM.
  16. And replacing him with whom? Starting pitching is at a premium and we will nto get teh value in return. The guy is 24 years old, come on.
  17. If Harlod is being groomed for something I think it would be to replace KW. Imagine dealing with that Poker face. As manager, I am not sure he could motivate.
  18. With all of the arbitration and free agents. This offseason is the definign moment for the White Sox. They could spend a ton of money on one year deals and offering arbitration and if the suck next year, they can white flag guys. I beleive the following guys are in contract years; Gordon Loiaza (team option) Garland Buerhle Colon Alomar Everett Lee Thomas (Options a plaenty) Valentin (Incentive option) The only long term deals in place are Konerko and Koch. In 2004 all of the above could be free agents as well as Ordonez. This is where JR will show his true colors as what he wants in life. This team should be right there to win it all. All we need is a manager that can run a team.
  19. How dishearting it will be that the best team I have seen in at least 20 years on the southside and they may be cleaning their lockers before October 1. Thank JM for that as the marathon is now a sprint and a couple of stumbles that were thought as harmless can be our undoing. Willie Harris batting in the tenth losing by a run, road trips to losing teams of 1-6 and 3-7. If those are .500 trips we are couting days. They should have been .667 (11-6,) and the champagne is ordered (7 game lead with 13 to play.) Not to mention 3 1-0 losses to San Diego and the Tigers twice. In the end this is a season that will test us as fans. The realization that a manager and organization have more of an effect that many believe. I for one am at a loss as anyhting less than the playoffs from these guys is a disgrace. I believe we have the best team in the American League bar none.
  20. We could easily be 6-0 against them instead we are 2-4, story of our season talk to the manager.
  21. Media, hype and age. If Reed played on the northside he would make Choi and Hill afterthoughts.
  22. We should not be having this conversation. Last evening I was thinking back over the season and how we should be at least 10 games up. There was a discussion on ESPN this morning about how much better the Sox are than anyone in the Central. I get sick when I think of all of the games we have given away over the season.
  23. Rocky Biddle is about to put the cub back into first. The Astros lost to the Brewers and Cards lost to the Rockies. Down 3-0 the cub have taken the lead in the ninth. as much as it pains me that team has what it takes as seen last week and again today. I do not know why but they are. Yipee.
  24. For the 100th time this year we came out flat as f***ing s*** in a big game. After handing it to them Monday and Tyesday we were flat as s***. I place the blame on manuel. After this season, one which we should have walked away with the division the story will be we were too tired at the end of the year by having our asses handed to us by the Tigers, Angels, Rangers and D-Rays. This is a complete f***ing joke. If I have to read about how Ghandi resurrected this team I am going to scream. This race should have been over a month ago. The Twins went 5-20 at one point. Again, this is a f***ing joke. At least JM will be gone before October 1. Then we can pay someone else $250,000 to run a Major League Basball team.
  25. You understand Boston has handled us easily at OUR place, where we win. We need to hope we can go into Minnesota only a game out and take 2 out of 3. Two f***ing pop outs on the infield in the ninth.
