So Blum and Adkins are on the 25-man roster and Harris and Gload go down. But who replaced Thomas on the roster?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 06:16 PM) Get well Big man and we will see you in 2006. i think this might be Thomas' last hoorah with the Sox. 3.5 million buy out or 10 million for a broken down DH. Unfortunately as Jim Morrison would say "This is the end"

I love watching Entourage. I also am a big fan of Pimp My Ride and Viva la Bam. BBTN is still one of the best shows on TV regardless of the hosts.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) Ah yes, Kansas City. What a great town if you like great food and great music. The poster who mentions Gates BBQ, Arthur Bryant's, and Smokestack is right on. Gates is a chain place, there are locations all over, and it's good bbq, unlike anything we have in Chicago. KC is a BBQ mecca. As soon as you walk in the door of any Gates BBQ the counter help calls out "Hi may I help you". The ballpark ... way out on the east side, not much around there except the football stadium right next door and a few hotels. I recommend staying just south of downtown in an area called Westport. That's where all the nightlife is, make sure to go to a place called Kelly's Westport Saloon, it is a huge old building and one of the oldest taverns in KC, the White Sox players hang out there often after games. You can stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Westport and walk to about 20 different bars and eateries. About 8 blocks south of Westport is The Plaza, which is a huge walkable shopping area, it's more upscale and the people watching is great. There are all kinds of fountains and stores and it is a great place to walk around, women love it. Westport and the Main Street area just north of Westport is where you'll find a lot of live music at night, everything from jazz to punk to pop to rock. Make sure to try several of the BBQ places. Smokestack is at about 81st and Wornall, Gates is all over, on the way to the ballpark stop at LC's BBQ for a pork sandwich and some fresh cut fries, it's on Blue Parkway and any Kansas Citian can direct you. If you go to the Arthur Bryants on 16th and Brooklyn, you will be in the 12th and Vine Historic Area, this is where all the jazz greats like Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington et al used to hang out in the 30's and it's where the Negro League Hall of Fame is. That neighborhood is a little rough, it is east of downtown but during the day there are no problems at all. Six blocks south of Arthur Bryants, at 22nd and Brooklyn, is the former site of Kansas City Municipal Stadium, that's where the Royals and Kansas City A's (and KC Chiefs football) played from 1955 to 1972. That's where the Hawk got his major league start, where Early Wynn won his 300th game as well. It is partly a vacant lot and partly a community garden plot, appropriately enough called Old Ballpark Community Gardens. Most of the houses directly across the streets are exactly the same from when the ballpark was there (one of the neighbors was kind enough to chat it up with us). It will be hard for you to fathom a major league ballpark being on that site, it doesn't look possible but that's where it was. To my knowledge there is no marker of any kind, other than the garden sign. Other great places to eat include L'il Jakes Eat it and Beat it BBQ downtown, and my personal favorite, Rosedale BBQ (since 1934), about 5 minutes from Westport just over the Kansas state line. But even if you just hang out in Westport and The Plaza, you will have a great time. If you're looking to stay on the cheap, there are all sort of budget motel options on Main St. in the 3300 to 3800 blocks, like Budgetel, Budget Host Inn, etc. You will be about 6 blocks from Westport and it is no problem to walk although you will need a car to get around KC anyway. Hope this helps you. As for tickets ... it is no problem whatsoever. Just walk up and take your pick, plenty will be available. We like sitting in the left field area, you can walk around, it's cheap, and the people watching is top notch. Damn JimH is there anywhere you haven't been?

That's a shame. I will be in Europe for the first time in my life. Would have enjoyed seeing the Sox whoop up on the Yanks.

My parents house in the closet of my old bedroom, there is about 15,000 loose baseball cards in boxes. I'd be willing to bet half of those guys are in there somewhere. Problem is, I'm not about to go through them. Sorry.

It would be cool if they did, but all I care about is make the playoffs and win playoff games.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 07:08 PM) If you can get there no later than noon you have a shot at an alternate parking lot.. but last year when I gave my folks my pass I ended up in G 2 hours before the game and they knew I was a full season holder. It's hit or miss. If there's a lot of people down there, they will stick to the rule. I'm going to try and get down there pretty early, maybe 11-11:30 so I will try Lot E first. If they don't let me in I'll go and grill, drink, and bag in Lot G. Kind of want to check out MJH's tailgate. I think they will be in Lot E

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 06:53 PM) try some of the ticket brokers. I've tried. They are all out. I'm just going to live with Lot G.

I'm looking for a parking pass for Friday's Sox/Scubs. I will exchange $$$ for one.

If anybody knows someone selling one or has an extra for some reason, please let me know. I have been searching all over for one.

QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) I think B and B are terrifically funny, and when they say something I disagree with, I don't take it personally. That is the problem with the people who complain about them. You have to take everything they say with a grain of salt. They are there for entertainment value only. Just realize that they purposely try to get people pissed off and if they piss you off they are doing what they want. I think they are hilarious. I always switch over from Carmen and Silvy and 10:00.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 06:29 PM) One of the dumber policies the White Sox have has to do with their season ticket exchange program. You can exchange unused tickets for upper deck tickets to some pre-selected games. But the dumb thing about it is you can't exchange them until the game for which the tickets you are going to be exchanging has been played. If two weeks before the game you knew you couldn't make it and wanted to exchange them, they could put those seats back in circulation. Maybe they want you to give them away. I would think that people who get their tickets for free probably tend to spend more on concessions and souveniers. I usually spend $60-$100 on parking, beer, food, etc every game i go to ( and I go a lot). So I am always looking for free tickets and I never feel bad about not paying for one. They get plenty of money from me.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) We give our last minute can't use tickets away also.. no sense in the seats being empty. Damn. I should have held out a little longer on opening day.

QUOTE(robin_ventura_eternal @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 05:12 AM) mlb tv rules, get it. i live in MI and its the only way to watch sox games for me, i dont even get wgn in my dorm so its perfect for me. but thats just me. I agree, it is worth it. I was watching the Minnesota/Dodger game last night and seeing the Ex-Cub Hee Sop crank that HR off of Mullholland on the first pitch in the bottom of the 9th paid for the whole thing.
