Annual mess with Cub fans day at my work II

QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 08:33 PM) So let me get this straight you police your company's internet access but around World Series time you policed everyone but yourself. So even though company time is to be used for company business that policy is enforced by you for everyone but you. Seems to me that this is akin to a police officer busting a dude for selling drugs then turning around and selling them himself. Absolute power corrupts absolutely and yet many here applaud you. It's no wonder we distrust those in power because once we find ourselves in a position of power we often times abuse it also. When the shoe is on the other foot and we have something to gain personally all morals and ethics we claim to have are betrayed. Wow, you need to relax. -

QUOTE(smalls2598 @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) I don't recall which league i was in last year, but i think it was 6. but i'll play in any league that has a live draft and plays head to head. That's what I am looking for as well.
-
I would like to be in a league again this year. I noticed that Yahoo is up and running today. Let me know where there will be a spot open. Previously I have played in League 1

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) Around Christmas time I was at the walmart on 75th in Darien walking around with my wife and son, and this fat guy decked out in head to toe sox gear nearing trampled my son so he could get in line at the jewelry section. I guess he was looking that 3 carat ring for the mrs. I remember the moron because last year at about the same time, he shoved his way through a line at the Best Buy over near my house. Decked out in head to toe cubs gear. Bandwagonners are part of the success story. Everyone wants to be part of a winner. Especially with how bad Chicago sports is overall. Rude people will be rude no matter what team they support. As long as they conduct themselves decent, dont perform any "lets get famous" stunts that get us another spotlight on all the news channels, spend lots of money(so we can afford more FA next year), then I am cool with it. C'mon, this guy is obviously a die hard "Chicago Fan"

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) Player to player, theres no comparison, but value to value, there is. We have limited payroll, we would have to give up one of our young pitchers and maybe deplete our minor league system even more. I would rather not. How limited is the payroll really? They won a World Series which generated tons of money in extra ticket sales, concessions, and merchandise. Season tickets are flying out the door at a hig rate and will probably even go faster if they got Tejada. I don't think money is really that big of a problem for this team right now. Winning again will just generate more revenue.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 03:06 PM) Well, guess what, you are right. People become too attached to individual players and then you have other people who were wrong all year about the direction of the team, and guess what, they are wrong about this too. Miguel Tejada, you nail it, best in the game. But like you said, unreal. I'm just happy to see ther eare others who realize how huge this would be.
-
What?! How could you not want MIGUEL TEJADA?!?! Who cares if they trade McCarthy. He pitched well for 2 months. Tejada is an MVP at one of the hardest positions to fill. This team with Tejada would be sick.
-
QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 11:27 PM) ROFL. Are you kidding? Miller has more taste Less filling! I prefer Bud. Newcastle is frowned apon in the UK. I was there this past summer and they laughed at me when i ordered one. I love it though. Miller lite is good on 100 degree tailgates, but it is like drinking water. You have to hit the john every 15 minutes.

QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 09:41 PM) Personally, I feel like s***. We gave up the best defensive CF in the AL, and our two best pitching prospects, for Thome, who is a huge risk. Personally, we gave up my favorite player, and basically ensured that my second favorite player (Frank Thomas) won't be coming back. Oh well.. I didn't know that Toriii played for the Sox. -

QUOTE(drowninginflame @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) i am 100% against this trade I don't understand why. The Sox will be even better because of this. If they resign Konerko he will drive in 120 runs next year. Especially if they get Pierre to bat second. -

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 09:33 PM) Wow, HAIGWOOD AND GIO??? Our pitching depth in the minors just got flushed down the toilet. Look at the current starters. Only Buehrle and McCarthy were drafted by the Sox. You can always make moves to improve your minor league system. -

QUOTE(Reddy @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) chemistry's a real thing dude. last year there is NO WAY we're the most talented team in baseball - but chemistry, good managing and pitching got us all the way. cant be denied I understand that, but losing Rowand and gaining Thome will not negatively affect the chemistry. These are grown men and professionals. They can handle not playing with their friends. It's not like Thome is Terrel Owens. -

I'm sick of the chemistry BS. Winning produces good chemistry. Not to mention Ozzie Guillen does his part. I like the deal. -

Settle down. I know everyone loves Rowand, but this is a business and KW is trying to position this team to win again next year. It's not like the just traded Willie Mays. -

I don't mind this. Rowand is a bit overrated. Trade him while his value is high. -
Tropicana Field is absolutely the worst stadium I have ever been to. However, you can't beat $1 beer in the "Beach" (Nose bleeds) on Friday Nights.
