  1. Just said that JR told KW that AJ, Crede, Freddy, and Cotts need to get haircuts. He said JR "doesn't want to be like the Yankees, but he doesn't want to be the Red Sox either".
  2. If I hear them say "Babe" Shelton one more time I am going to puke. :puke
  3. QUOTE(sti3 @ Mar 31, 2006 -> 10:19 PM) I'm just playin' guys. I have love for all Soxfans. If anyone wants to chat on opening day I'll be the white guy in Lot B rockin this bit of loveliness: That hat is brutal. Does it come with Carhart Overalls and an orange vest?
  4. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 31, 2006 -> 08:01 PM) Man. The stadium looks so much better these days.
  5. Did Sweeney make the team? My only guess is that he is up for Pods, but I didn't think he was going on the DL. Anyone?
  6. QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 03:10 AM) Halsted and Ashland will both be packed. Good call on Canal St. The parking you're referring to is my dad's former place of employment, Amelio Meat Packing, immediately south of the 24 hr. pork chop sandwich stand and right across from Henry's Bait Shop. Right off the corner of 31st and Canal. Exactly. Those guys are really nice over there. We got to know them a little so they let us park there for the World Series. We were pretty much the only car there. Even got to tailgate there, it was perfect.
  7. All this talk... I'm going outside for a smoke. Figure I better get them in now since I won't smoke as much as I usually did at the games.
  8. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 09:41 PM) Link? I'm curious to read more. If you go to any cigarette web site this information will be there. http://www.rjrt.com/smoking/summaryCover.aspx
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) no Cook County is out of Chicago mostly made up of Shaumburg where I live.... and they just passed it as well but wont take effect for a year. I'm not sure what you are talking about. Chicago IS in Cook County.
  10. I am going to get there nice and early with a styrofoam cooler full of beers and sit there and wait in line. Figure that way i can just toss the cooler and if I need to use the john have one of my friends hold my place in line.
  11. As a smoker, I will just miss being able to go up to the concourse, have a smoke, and still watch the game. I don't mind having to go to a designated area, but they should at least make sure you can hear the call on the radio, which I am pretty sure you can on the ramps. If anything this is another step towards quitting. I just don't know what I am going to do in the 9th innings with the Sox up a run and Jenks on the mound. I will need to smoke for that. I was at the United Center last week and they of course cut off smoking as well, but one thing I noticed, without the smell of smoke covering it up, you can smell every bit of flatulence that seeps from everyone's asses at the bar. Before the smoke just covered it up. I don't know about you, but I would rather smell smoke than someone's filthy asshole.
  12. April 2nd April 4th April 5th April 7th @KC April 8th @KC April 9th @KC Figure I would take a week of vacation and catch the first 6
  13. Don't take it down to State or Hallstead. Take it to Canal and take Canal all the way down until you have to turn. Turn left there, quick right on Canal again and you are there. There is also a place there that will let you park for $10 and it is only a couple of minute walk to the stadium.
  14. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) in my draft this year I relied heavily on pitching, after drafting Johan, Rich Harden, Zach Duke, Francisco Liriano, Jarrod Washburn, Javy Vazquez and Shawn Chacon I have plenty of starting pitchers. I made an offer of Zach Duke to a guy for Joe Blanton and Hideki Matsui, he declined and insisted on me either giving up Hermida or Ryan Zimmerman. This deal is a no brainer and I'm going to do it, but I don't know which player to give up. I really like both of them, I'm leaning towards Hermida right now because I hear Zimmerman could be this years version of David Wright. So who do i cut loose? Zimmerman or Hermida? You are way overvaluing Duke. He isn't worth Godzilla striaght up (IMO). Liriano is not starting and Chacon is a crap shoot. What does your offense look like? I don't think your pitching is as solid as you think it is.
  15. I am happy that the fans will be out. It will save me a ton of money. I'll end up going to 10-15 games this year instead of 30. That will save a couple of grand probably. Also, like Steff said earlier in the thread, people and brokers (I don't think of brokers as people) bought season tickets for this year so they could get the playoff tickets. They won't go to most games which means tickets will be around. I luckily hooked up a pair for the opener, but I would bet you have a decent shot at a ticket in the lot before the game if you are willing to spend $50.
  16. QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 01:15 PM) So who's going to be the first to join "Logan's Heroes" or "Boone's Farmers"? Congrats to Logan on getting there - now the job is STAYING there, which is even harder to do. You may have something there. Brooks can rope off a section on the right field concourse and call it "Boone's Farm". People can dress up as animals and hang out there. Lol.
  17. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 05:04 AM) that's great That is f***ing hilarious
  18. Any one listen to North this morning? I missed the word of the day.
  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 02:23 PM) I have got to find someone else to join first, or it won't really matter. Also I don't know at this point if we are going to find a day that works for everyone. My advice right now would be to make sure you prerank your players. I definately don't see it being before Saturday if we have to move the draft time again. Mike, I thought there were a bunch of people looking to play this year? Can't we just put a post out there letting everyone know that we need to fill 1 spot? It's hard to believe there is no one that would want to play.
  20. QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 04:23 PM) Rock, love the Mt. Adams Bar and Grill, so does the wife. Even better on Mt. Adams ... City View Tavern on Oregon St., down the small hill from Rookwood Pottery. Cheesburgers, mettwurst, cold beer, a terrific jukebox, and a great view of the city, hence it's name. A hidden gem. http://www.greatjoints.com/bar.php?id=41 Also for those looking for the (20-something) ladies, Longworth Pavilion in the Mt. Adams area. They have three separate bars in that place, take your pick based on what kind of music you like. German food ... Mecklenberg Gardens in the Clifton area. Quick and cheap ... Cincinnati chili ... Goldstar, Skyline, Camp Washington. There is also the Samuel Adams Brewery on Central Parkway, just north of downtown, don't know if they give tours. It used to be the Schoenling Brewery (Little Kings and Hudepohl). 1625 Central Parkway if memory serves. The 12th and Main area is pretty good too right Rock? Neon's, Japps, etc. But don't wander around too far. We love the Barrelhouse Brewery in that area. Jim you should write a book.
  21. QUOTE(bschmaranz @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) I guess they obviously weren't planning on keeping him on the roster so Kenny got SOMETHING for him. Who knows, if Coop can help this guy with his control he might be SOMETHING. Yeah, he better work his magic. Looks like he sucked in the minor leagues as well. This doesn't guarantee Thornton a spot on the roster does it? I was kind of looking forward to them giving Logan a shot at it.
  22. Thornton looks pretty bad http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7212 Ross Gload is happy today.

  24. It's obvious that you can't attend any of your kid's games, unless you are supporting the opponent.
  25. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 06:17 AM) You and Steve Martin. Except he had a 'special purpose'. Beat me to it.
