    7/9 Games

Phegley with his first homer for Kanny. And Dex Carter with 14 K's and just 1 BB. He also has given up 4 runs, but 14 K's? Nice.

    7/6 Games

Sauer with 2 BB through 4 innings. Bust.
  3. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 04:39 PM) I don't. Ozzie and KW can do no wrong according to him. He's an apologist voice for the White Sox who tries to sugarcoat everything. The only pre/post game guy I liked was I believe Dave Wells, and that was back in 05. I wish we kept him. Rongey is useless.... and he gets paid to talk about the White Sox and baseball in general. Wills was in TB by '05. Brian Dolgin was the pre/post guy in '05.

    7/4 Games

Danks goes 3/4 with a homer and a walk. Nice.

    7/4 Games

Final line for D. Carter tonight: 8 IP, 1 run, 5 hits, 1 BB, 9 K's. Is this the start that finally gets him moved up to W-S?

    7/4 Games

Kanny just scored 5 in the bottom of the 4th to go up 6-0. So far, Dexter Carter has given up a hit, a walk & struck out 5 through 4 innings. After his last outing, that's a better step in the right direction.
  7. A comment from Trayce Thompson's brother in SI Hope he's right.

  10. Holy crap, he's fast. I can see the Crawford comparison. Dayum.
  11. Mitchell had a single back up the middle in the 2nd. Game is on ESPN right now.

  13. Wow, haven't posted here in awhile. Can a mod/admin change my screenname to CSF? Greatly appreciated.
  14. Also Boone Logan & Josh Fields sent to Charlotte. Per Rongey's postgame show.
  15. Both of his parents were present at one of his recent home starts (either against the Twins or Pirates).
  16. In Chicago, the game is supposed to be on TLN (Total Life Network). http://chicago.comcastsportsnet.com/Illinois-Systems.asp
  17. Most of mine have been named, but let me add one: Todd Walker (former Red Sox, Cub, Twin, current Athletic). 4 teams I can't stand. Plus, he cost the Sox a sweep in that dump.
  18. QUOTE(bardsroom attendant @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 10:17 PM) Reports are that Danks goes against Santana on Sunday...uh oh. They said on Comcast Sportsnet that Contreras was still scheduled to go on Sunday vs Santana. EDIT: And now the White Sox homepage has Danks going vs Santana. Guess we'll know tomorrow.
  19. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 10:49 AM) So do they push the rotation back? Does this mean we don't have to see Santana on Sunday? Checking the Whitesox.com page, they have the matchup as Danks/Ponson.
  20. At least the bullpen will get an extra day of rest.
  21. 2 games, and coaches heads are already being called for. Priceless.
  22. From Chicagosports.com: Buehrle turned down Sox's offer Reveals he refused White Sox's offer at 2006 All-Star Break By Mark Gonzales Tribune staff reporter February 16, 2007, 10:11 PM CST TUCSON, Ariz. -- With his White Sox future at stake, Mark Buehrle showed Friday he is ready to make amends for a rough 2006 season. A fit-looking Buehrle tackled some tough issues on the eve of the club's first workout for pitchers and catchers at the Kino Sports Complex. Buehrle revealed he turned down a multiyear offer around the 2006 All-Star break, just as his season was beginning to unravel. The Sox eventually picked up his $9.5 million option for 2007, but Buehrle understands that his contract status will be an issue because he can be a free agent at the end of this season. "If something happens during the season, then obviously we'll talk about it," said Buehrle, who has won 97 games in seven seasons with the Sox. "I'll talk about it during spring training. If you have a couple of good starts and somebody brings it up, or you have a couple of bad starts and somebody else brings it up, 'Jeez we should have taken the contract' or whatever. At some point you have to draw the line and not bring it up all the time." Buehrle, 27, was 9-6 with a 4.02 ERA around the time he rejected the Sox's offer, believed to be in the three-year, $33 million range. Since then, the market for left-handed pitchers has exploded, from Ted Lilly's four-year, $40 million contract with the Cubs to Barry Zito's seven-year, $126 million deal with the Giants. When asked if he had any regrets, Buehrle replied, "None. Not at all." The second half of Buehrle's season was terrible as he had a 3-7 record and 6.44 ERA. Buehrle said he hired a personal trainer this off-season and played catch and long toss more frequently around his hometown of St. Charles, Mo. "I'm excited," Buehrle said before working out on an elliptical machine. "This is the most I've done in an off-season to get prepared. The way I feel and the way I've been throwing bullpen sessions, I'm pretty excited to get going." Buehrle hopes he can experience what teammate Paul Konerko went through in 2005, when a good season led to the Sox holding off the Angels and Orioles with a five-year, $60 million contract for the veteran first baseman. "I'm comfortable here in Chicago, and then you see what you can go get somewhere else," Buehrle said. "There's a lot to look at. But I want to finish my career here." And Buehrle had no qualms about manager Ozzie Guillen's decision last month at SoxFest to start Jose Contreras on April 2 against the Indians, which would halt Buehrle's streak of five consecutive Opening Day starts, and to have Jon Garland pitch the second game. "The way [they] pitched last year, I think you have an argument for both those guys," Buehrle said. "I'm just happy to be here, happy to be in a White Sox uniform and if they want me to start day one, day five. I'll be ready." Guillen, meanwhile, is leery of the attention given to potential free agents around baseball, from the Sox's Buehrle and right fielder Jermaine Dye to Cubs ace pitcher Carlos Zambrano. This has prompted him to stress the need for his players to concentrate on their performance and not let their contract status affect them. "You play this game for your family, and obviously you play this game because you want to win," Guillen said. "I just don't want the ballclub to get caught up in one guy talking about his contract. I don't think that's fair. "I will try to protect [buehrle] from that. But during the season, the first time that comes up, I will be the guy that says, 'Listen, I don't want this around my team.'" [email protected] Copyright © 2007, The Chicago Tribune And to think that the Cubs gave Lilly a $40 million contract for 4 yrs. What could Buehrle fetch on the open market. Well at least he's in shape and ready to go. Just hope it's not the last year he's in a Sox uniform.
  23. Not really anything new: Cubs' Zambrano: 'I must go' if no deal Says he's ready to sign, but seeks Zito money By Paul Sullivan Tribune staff reporter February 12, 2007, 10:50 PM CST MESA, Ariz. -- After announcing at the Cubs Convention he wouldn't discuss a contract extension with the Cubs if they don't come to an agreement before Opening Day, Carlos Zambrano said Monday he's gone if he has to play out the season. Zambrano, seeking a long-term deal with an annual salary in the range of Barry Zito's $18 million-a-year contract with San Francisco, dropped the bombshell in an interview with WGN-Ch. 9. "I'm ready to sign, and I would do my job anyway with the Cubs this year," Zambrano said. "Whatever happens, I don't want to know [anything] about a contract during the season. I want to sign with the Cubs before the season starts. If they don't sign me, sorry, but I must go. That's what Carlos Zambrano thinks." The Cubs can still negotiate with Zambrano if he becomes a free agent. They re-signed Aramis Ramirez in November after he considered free agency. Zambrano recently requested $15.5 million in arbitration. The Cubs offered $11.025 million, a sizable gap that could lead to an arbitration hearing Feb. 20. Asked at the Cubs Convention about his upcoming free agency, Zambrano repeatedly said "This is a business" and that Zito's seven-year, $126 million deal helped raise his market value. As the Cubs' most valuable pitcher, Zambrano can make the Cubs squirm. He apparently intends to do just that. "When you're a great pitcher and have talent, you deserve the money no matter who gives it to you," he said. "Zito is a great pitcher. Good for him he has that contract, and I think that will help me. "[Cubs general manager] Jim [Hendry] spent a lot of money. I hope he has more for 'Big Z.'"
