Bulls will escape from another game they probably should have lost. They've looked like s*** basically all season. The bench against NY is the only good stretch of bball so far.

Anyone know of a good, free DVD ripper/converter program that works with Disney movies? I have ton of new and old DVD's/Blu-Rays that I want to put on a tablet so my son can watch them on the go.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 5, 2014 -> 11:34 AM) Funk said the second ankle injury was really nothing he couldn't have played with. They didn't even want to call it a sprain. I read an article where Calipari said DRose has a very small threshold of pain. You give him a little elbow and he is in agony. That concerns me. I do agree, this injury is different than the knee injuries because he just unluckily landed on a foot. Anyone who has played basketball has probably done that. But on the other hand, he has played 1 1/2 games out of 4. The pattern continues. It just makes you wonder what's next. Before he tore his ACL, he was missing games with all sorts of different injuries. I never really understood this. Rose plays like a running back and gets whacked all the time and never really complains (except for no calls). He's also played through injuries before. I bet that quote was taken out of context and/or it's not the full quote.

Election 2014
John Oliver had a good segment on the importance of the local state legislature races, and how no one gives a s***, resulting in some truly bats*** candidates/legislators. And sadly over 1000 such people will win their election because they are running unopposed.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 04:44 PM) What a bunch of old man yells at cloud b.s. I don't really disagree with him. There's the annoying "Indiana is the Mecca of college basketball morality" feeling in what he's saying, but I took it as, stop giving these moronic kid excuses. If you're excited to play for Indiana basketball, you don't go partying the night before the first public scrimmage. I think that's pretty reasonable.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 07:21 PM) That's more on the players/coaching staff then the administration. Anything the administration does is a result of their actions/performance. I wonder if Groce gets called if Crean is let go, I imagine he would be. Doubt it. (1) He's not a top tier coach (yet), and (2) when's the last time a major conference coach changed jobs in the same conference? I bet the Big Ten would frown upon that move.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 12:12 PM) I just want to say, through three games, this Bulls team has been the most fun team to watch since the Jordan era. They are just fun to watch. Lots of new faces to see what they will bring, plus the steady stream of familiar faces as well. This team has a ton of talent and I will anxiously watch to see how it all plays out. Jimmy looked fantastic and quick in his first game back. For whatever reason, probably injuries, he looked slower last year. When he plays aggressive, he is going to get a lot of free throws for us and his jumper looked much more consistent. Again, small sample size but add in his value on defense and I loved seeing that. I hope he plays himself into a max contract!!! 2010 was pretty fun to watch. MVP Rose and then some dominate defense with the bench mob. But yeah this is a lot of fun through three games. I'm excited to watch mcbuckets and mirotic grow into their roles.

Am I the only one that doesn't care that the players on this roster have tuned Trestman out (assuming that's true)? Half of them won't be on the team next year. So long as it isn't guys like Cutler, Forte, Marshall and Jeffrey, who gives a s*** what they think?

QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 01:19 PM) It would be way too soon to can Emery, IMO. You can't evaluate GMs this quickly. I'd also say this is rather quick to pull the plug on a head coach, too. You put yourself in a position where suddenly you have to fire another coach immediately if he goes sub-.500 . . . shortly thereafter, you're the Raiders. Or something. Agree with this. Trestman and Emery are going to get at least next season before the hot seat starts to get warm. Last year they were a busted coverage play away from the playoffs after starting 3rd string players on their defense and losing their franchise QB for half the year. This year he dealt with unhealthy WR's for a couple of weeks and a defense that again is pretty decimated. They should be better, but given what's happened I'm not sure what the expectation can be, realistically.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 12:54 PM) Think about this again... Harbaugh is 40-15 as a head coach in this league with a .727 winning percentage, having made the playoffs in each of his first 3 full season (including 1 superbowl appearance) and inherited a 6-10 team with a so-called bust in Alex Smith. Trestman is 11-13 with no postseason appearances and inherited a 10 win team. What's the injury comparison though? I feel like the Bears have had some pretty terrible injury luck the last 1.5 seasons. And that 10 win team stuff is nonsense. He missed the playoffs 5 out of 6 years. Not acceptable.

Ferguson Riots
Pretty dumb. Even if their justification of safety is legit (hard to believe), so what? Issue a warning and if someone is shot/killed it's their fault for taking the chance.

Nik Wallenda tightropes Chicago
He was on the news this morning and sad he's trained to hold onto the rope if he falls. He can do so for up to 20 minutes. People on either side of the cable are trained to get to him within 90 seconds. He has a harness and everything for them to use to secure him so it's not like he has to dangle there. Incrediblyl dangerous still, but it's not like they haven't though of SOME contingencies. But yes, that entire thing was boring. Luckily I talked my wife into just watching the last half hour (when he started). She wanted to watch the whole damn thing. Also, the "thank you God for giving me this gift," "God put me on the Earth to do this," etc. crap was annoying. No, moron, God did not select you personally to walk on a damn cable for a living.

The Republican Thread
The Washington Post and CNN are predicting, with greater than 90% probability, that the voters are sick of the Dems and want Repub's back in power. Can we start making posts about how the American public has spoken, it's time for a change, liberals need to lay down and acquiesce, etc. etc.?

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 1, 2014 -> 01:07 PM) GTFO. He twisted his ankles. You do realize he had that issue heavily in high school and in college which is why Adidas developed those special braces for him, right? And has he suffered many ankle injuries? Not really. Only time I can think is when the Bulls training staff was adamant about taping his ankles and not using the braces. What makes your argument worse is that they are mild sprains(guess what, players get injured throughout the season), and that he has been playing less violent than any year before. Yet, you probably are the type asking why Rose is taking so many jumpshots and complain about that too. Westbrook broke his hand in the 2nd game of the season and is out 4-6 weeks. Last year, he had to dealing with coming back from a torn meniscus. OMG HES INJURY PR0N3!!!! Prior to the knee last year and the hand this year, has he missed any more time? Rose has had a ton of little things (in addition to the big) the last 4 seasons.

QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 31, 2014 -> 10:01 PM) Taj - 28 minutes, 10 points Snell - 23 minutes, 10 points Brooks - 20 minutes, 11 points The only place where he screwed up personnel-wise was it turned out that he probably should have found more minutes for Mirotic, especially since we went to OT Offense sucked to end the game. He stuck with the defensive rotation of years past. Didn't work then, not gonna work now.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 31, 2014 -> 09:56 PM) He sprained an ankle when he stepped on someone else's foot coming down. This happens to EVERYONE. It was one mis-step. Just be careful to bring him back slowly so he doesn't overcompensate for the ankle somehow. Or some guys just have s***ty luck with injuries....like Rose. He's Penny or Grant Hill guys. Just accept it.
