So 26 year old Ellis isn’t ready to pinch run in mlb but 21 year old Quero is ready to play the most difficult defensive position in mlb? Got it

He’s 26 years old. How long do you want to wait until he’s “ready”? Truth is that dude will never be ready.

Maldonado will be gone soon enough. He’s irrelevant and plays a completely different position than Ellis. Neither guy matters to the white sox this year or beyond. People complaining just to complain. Kinda like when there was a 20 page thread about how awful it was of Getz to DFA Jose Rodriguez.

You shouldn’t get picked off second base in high school baseball let alone when you’re 26 years old and have been playing the game for 20 years.

Maybe it was nerves but he didn’t do a damn thing right in his mlb cup of coffee. If you’re a speed and defense guy you can’t get picked off second base and make errors in the outfield.

I know and that’s why I think this is a realistic trade for both sides.

This would be an amazing trade for the Sox but I don’t see Cleveland giving up this much for him.

It used to be we only had to worry about him staying healthy to maintain his trade value but now his performance is worrisome too. He’s striking out so much and his defense doesn’t rate all that well this season either. Move him ASAP before his trade value deteriorates further.

Márquez has a career WAR of 17 and he’s only 29 (only 3 WAR less than Burnes at same age). Mahle, Salazar, and Ray all got hurt. That’s a different argument altogether. Wright was horrible before his one good season (Crochet has been very good his entire career when he’s on the mound). Dylan Bundy doesn’t even belong in this conversation.

You’re comparing position players and a reliever with career years to a starting pitcher. How many starting pitchers led the league or were close to leading the league in strikeouts in their mid 20s and then fell off the face of the earth after that? The only case I can think of happened 20+ years ago with Rick Ankiel. Outside of injury, it just doesn’t happen. You don’t luck into a 200+ strikeout season.
