2014-2015 NFL Football thread

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 2, 2015 -> 10:37 AM) So, yesterday we heard DeCosta declined Jets interview. I'm guessing it's a matter of time with the Bears before declined. For as much as I want him, he clearly will be a GM in his mind, and likely if he gets that job he'll be a gm for 10-15 years. There's so much to do on the bears he may only get his dream job for 3-5 years. he probably looks at Reggie McKenzie and thinks he made a huge mistake. Exactly. I think the Ravens have made it so comfortable to him there that it would take a team willing to give him President status to lure him away from that org. They pay him like a GM currently and have promised him that he is next in line for their GM job when its time. He would have so much more to loose including his own stock by taking one of these GM jobs with teams that are a complete mess. He is making the right decision by staying where he is at. -
We have gumbo every year on New Years Day from my wifes side. I have eaten so much gumbo the past couple days that I dont want anymore until next new years day...seriously.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 11:20 AM) Bears GM/Head coach search is being aided by a group that features Accorsi, Bill Polian, Charlie Casserly, Ron Wolf, Tony Dungy, John Madden, Dennis Green, and Carl Peterson. With that wealth of football knowledge I can't see Ted and company going against the reccomendations of those guys. I am now of the belief that the bears will hire the right guy at both spots. Hopefully while working with Polian they can convince him to stay in the organization. Where did you hear/see this? I dont think that consultants would be helping multiple teams at the same time. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 04:51 PM) They basically said the reason they fired Kromer was because of his actions with the locker room thing. Every other position player will be decided on by the new coach, as is custom. Ok, fair enough. I just cant help but sit here waiting for them to screw things up somehow. -

Wait...so Tucker is still employed with the Bears? I thought his firing would just be a given since he was brought in by Emery who is now fired. This organization cant help but be fun bad with everything they do. -

I haven't heard any of this press conference but by your reactions it sounds like its the same ol Bear circus. That is disappointing. I was hopeful they would have handled this right. They really had to get this right. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 01:04 PM) 49ers aggressively pursuing coaches. I worry with so many new positions to hire, Bears will shuffle their feet and have a weak crop to go off of (in a pretty weak crop already). As they have done before. -

This Emery/Trestman era is going to be a punch line to jokes 10-20 years from now. This day couldnt have come soon enough. I think George finally gets it after this embarrassment. I think he is going to get a football guy in here that is proven and keep Ted Phillips out of football decisions. That is the most important aspect of this and should trickle down to the field in due time. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 26, 2014 -> 01:53 PM) Comcast SportsNet @CSNChicago 2m2 minutes ago Bears sign G Roberto Garza to one-year extension -- http://bit.ly/1x7WiWx #BearsTalk Did Emery make this move? If he is on the way out he wouldn't have been allowed to sign a player to an extension would he? Does this indicate he is safe? -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 26, 2014 -> 11:50 AM) And a merry christmas was had by all LOL

Maybe we should hire Hawk as manager.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 26, 2014 -> 11:11 AM) The personality of the manager is really as irrelevant as Ditka is now. Its time to stop pointing to Ditka as if he is the only crowning achievement that this town has. Quenneville, Guillen, Phil Jackson have all won titles in Chicago since Ditka won a title, and they didnt all act like raging assholes in order to win titles. You want your manager to win games, The End. ITS ALL ABOUT THE FIRE AND THE PASSION. BEAR DOWN...BLUE COLLAR GRINDER...DIE HARD...DITKAAAAA

Christmas is a time for celebrating big butts!

As for me, I tried to pronounce it and gave myself a hernia.

Michigan is courting him so hard and with so much money to back it up I dont know if I can see him turning it down. He would probably make about half the money in the NFL right? http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/...ch-jim-harbaugh -
Good Lord...work is boring today.
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 22, 2014 -> 05:14 PM) Yes they would. Pretty much all of their top talent. And it still wouldnt be a higher bid than a lot of other teams that could use him.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 22, 2014 -> 04:58 PM) He could sign at Michigan right now or last week or whenever. But he hasn't. If money and endorsements could be even close to equal I don't know why anyone would want to go back to college when they have had success in the NFL and are wanted by the NFL. That recruiting grind is tough and would be a major play in his quality of life.
