  1. I think its possible they will extend him for bigger money than we think. They know they can market this guy probably better than anyone on the roster in a long time. They will see the investment as not just an on the field investment.
  2. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 03:24 PM) Thing about Fox is he has successfully built two winning coaching staffs. let to be said about that. Perry Fewell could be the DC Yeah I think that is what gives him the upper hand to all the other candidates. He can definitely build a quality staff thats done it before from day one and create a culture around the Bears of professionals ready to compete. Pace cant have a flop here. They are aware they cant have an Emery like failure with the hire and dont want to risk it with one of the up and comers that are available. Fox is the safe bet which equals that smart bet in this case.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 12:20 PM) Long and Bennett fight on twitter over an unfollow. http://www.foxsports.com/buzzer/story/chic...150113_38704287 I really wish Long would leave twitter alone for a while. I really like the guy and he is one of the couple talents ever unearthed by one Phil Emery but he gets into too much drama in the twitter world. Not too long ago he was starting up a fight with Laurence Holmes on twitter. What is the point of this juvenile back and forth with words on social media with your teammate? Grow up dude.
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 12:04 PM) Gruden? I know it's a long shot theory but just thought it was the route they may go. How old is Bowles? Bowles is 51.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 04:51 PM) No I want you to mope some more about not being first-ies hiring a new coach You son of a b****
  6. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 04:45 PM) @ProFootballTalk Early speculation from informed source: Keep an eye on John Fox to Chicago. I would be for this. Sign me up!
  7. I really would loooove to see the Bears sign a HC some time soon here, jeez. I get the feeling that every passing day that goes by they are decreasing their chances to get the guy they want and also continue to go the path of not knowing exactly what they want and will wind up with just a guy that happened to still be there that they liked. I swear if turns out in the future that Bowles was the best of the bunch and the Bears missed out by dorking around I wouldnt be the least surprised. Its Arians all over again.
  8. I am still bitter...so whatever.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 09:37 AM) u mad bro LOL He is so right though. They guy dumped the Bills to go to the Jets who many people in the market right now are turning down to even interview for their organization because its like the worst place to go right now.
  10. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jan 9, 2015 -> 04:59 PM) Jimmy Johnson cut a guy for falling asleep in a meeting (John Roper?). He was asked what he would have done if it was Troy Aikman, and Johnson said he would have woken Troy up. Not everyone is treated the same, nor should they be. http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/55409...-legend/page/23 Thats actually hilarious.
  11. Has it ever sold out this early? I am not even sure if it has ever sold out.
  12. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 9, 2015 -> 01:23 PM) Just for the record Peyton manning did the same thing when Mike Vanderjagt criticized him. He said, he's just a drunk kicker. MostNFL players really don't think the kicker is a football player. You hear the "only a kicker" comment alot. Which is fine but it doesnt make it right. Gould isnt a drunk and happens to be one of the best kickers in Bears history. Not that everyone should shut up and listen when Gould talks but I think when guys like Briggs walk out when you try giving the team a pep talk/rant that shows how much you are respected.
  13. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 9, 2015 -> 12:53 PM) Totally agree. I'm more attacking the "Marshall is a cancer" crowd. That's a bunch of nonsense. I think that comes from people who are close to the situation. There are sources from within that are saying things like this. Lance Briggs walked out on him last year when he started ranting in the locker room and telling Gould to sit down and shut up because he was just a kicker. You think that is acceptable and not a cancer in anyway? I really havent decided myself on what I hope to happen with Marshall but if Pace has heard enough from the people on the team (believe he is going to do his research) that Marshall is a detriment and trade/release him I would be fine with that. They arent a playoff team for the next year anyway.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 9, 2015 -> 11:50 AM) Reading between the lines, I do not think Jay Cutler will be back. I dont know. I dont see anything wrong with looking for the next QB and keeping Jay as just a stop gap. Unless he thinks Jay will effect every player he is going to bring in in the next couple years in a negative way that it cant be done.
  15. Very cool Gage, thanks. Hate to beat a dead horse but I still just hate the fact that Phillips has to be involved in choosing the HC. Good lord why does he have to be there? I dont care if he has even the slightest effect on what decision is made its too much.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 10:46 AM) Bere is now the bullpen coach for the Indians I believe. Are you sure about that ? That just sounds ridiculous.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 04:45 PM) Jason La Canfora ‏@JasonLaCanfora 1h1 hour ago- The first words Pace spoke in his interview " I'm here to beat Green Bay". Oh Boy...LOL Trying to appeal to the meathead fans is all i can think of. But yeah they need to beat GB.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 04:17 PM) Bernstein and Hub both keep insisting that this is the case, he will quietly slide out of any football role in the next few months Why couldnt he have slid out of any football role before the search?
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 04:09 PM) This hire no matter who it was, was damned if you do, damned if you don't damn yourself kyle!
  20. Matt Miller from Bleacher Report doesnt like the hire, thinks Ballard was too good to pass over. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2015/01/08/lis...ryan-pace-hire/
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 03:44 PM) Greg Gabriel: "Chris Ballard knew where the problems were in the organization, and what he told the Bears on how to fix it, the Bears didn't like"... He also mentioned that Sean Payton respects Pace as much as anyone else in the league and has for a long time. Confirmed Bears probably wanted to break from the past. I believe what Gabriel said. He knows Ballard and probably did talk with him. I'm surprised he gave that info up. LOL
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 03:23 PM) HE is in fact the youngest GM in the league. Now the next exciting part...who will the coach be. He is the guy that was waiting in the hallway for a couple hours for his interview earlier.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) Random sidenote: I still don't think the interview should necessarily be the selling point. Hopefully they liked his track record, references, etc. I'm sure Bears have pretty good relations with Payton and were able to talk to him. Than again, I'm sure we heard good things about Kromer too Excited to hear his press conference. I am also curious to hear what Ernie's feedback was (or if the Bears will address that or not) during the press conference. One thing I do wonder is whether anything will leak about Ballard not being as interested or what. Early reports are that it wasnt the case of Ballard backing out. I think it was Zaidman that reported that they were prepared to offer the job to Ballard and were leaning towards him but Pace just blew them away.
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 02:07 PM) thats what you get for doubting GAGES SOURCES BMAGS This is hilarious.
