QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 04:55 PM) All the Mariners fans on Twitter seem to think it's Dayan and aren't happy. Obviously means nothing, but it is good to see the chatter of this rumor is as loud on their side as it is ours. You would think they would have grown to like him after all this time of being rumored to going to the M's.

Is it now easier to support this team? That's the question.

I am also invited to spring training so not a big deal.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 11:25 AM) Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 9m9 minutes ago When asked for specific win total looking for in '15, Rick Hahn said 90 if not beyond. But that's target every year to be playoff viable He tipped his hand! He must be bringing in Scherzer!

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 08:32 PM) All you guys take the fun out of being a baseball fan, My team did all it could in a short period of time to get a lot better. I will impatiently wait for spring training and wildly cheer for my team. I don't care about what Steamer, Zips or Gladys Knight and the Pips say about the Sox. The only projection I care about is that spring is the time for optimism. What were all those projection systems and scouts saying about how Abreu would perform in his rookie season ? And guess who nailed it ? I did . A little bit of optimism combined with common sense and good health projects the Sox to be much better, which was the point of signings. I will let it unfold and enjoy it until the Sox are eliminated wether it's in the regular season or the playoffs. I don't need a computer simulation or 2 years of calculus to help me root root root for the White Sox. I enjoy hearing from both sides. Traditional and saber/ new age baseball philosophy brings a healthy and interesting aspect to discussing baseball.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 04:05 PM) The White Sox still aren't very good. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-white-s...very-good-team/ Good read. Brings the optimism down a notch but even he admits that the Sox have put themselves in the position to have a shot that they would not have had before. Give yourself a shot and its pretty much a crap shoot from there.

85 WINS WC Birth. It will be a fun ride.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 03:00 PM) My opinion is anybody who says a healthy Sox team is not THE favorite to win the Central is delusional. Folks, our starting rotation is Sale, Shark, Q, Danks and stiff to be named later. The closer is Robertson with suitable setup guys. The lineup has Abreu, Melky, LaRoche, Eaton, Garcia. There are no excuses for Robin. This is a WS roster. This reads as complete satire.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 10:45 AM) To be honest...if we are competitive, I want Hawk calling the games. When we are good, he is fun to listen to. It is when we are incessantly bad that it gets more tiresome. Yeah I don't mind him. The older I get the more I find myself just watching the games now anyways. Not really paying to much attention to the broadcasts, Hawk is just whitenoise. And that goes for all sports.

Anybody else having trouble supporting this team?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 02:10 PM) Shipps, it took me a while to figure out why your post was bothering me, but this post cleared it up. You're right, everyone is free to support who they want, but I see your post replying to me saying why I take into account both the front and back of the jersey...and then I see this kind of post calling everyone who has a negative response to signing a guy like this "Stupid petulant little whiners' and I wonder why the people who don't like a player like Cabrera are the ones who get the "everyone should support who they want" response. Getting called "stupid" "Petulant little whiners" cleared that up for me, and that's not the only post in this thread espousing that. I'm not saying that your way of approaching fandom is a wrong way. I do however know that saying your way of support is stupid and whiney IS the wrong way. As I said every one should be free to cheer and support whoever and however they want but when it gets to the point that they force their way upon others then it is wrong. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 01:40 PM) I cheer for both. Applauded Frank when he was with other teams, laughed when Garland gave up 2 home runs to him, cheered for him against any other team. Still like watching Buehrle pitch. Hated watching Konerko playing as a shell of his former self because of what the player had once been. Definitely did not enjoy watching guys like ManRoid, Brett Myers put on our uniform. Will figure out how to cheer for name on front, but doesn't mean I ignore the name on the back. This doesn't make you a better fan or person than anyone else. Every one is free to support however they want. I always felt as if people who didn't like certain players for whatever reason felt as if every person should agree and do the same. It's just not the case. -

I personally don't condemn people for life in regards to PED use. I judge character far more by off the field issues such as beating their family, rape and other violence. Which is prevalent in today's professional sports. Everyone has the right to support who they want. If you feel you don't like the team assembled don't support them at all. That will be the only way you can take a stand against GM's bringing players with a history to your team in the future. -

Yeah. It's a struggle. -
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 02:19 AM) Very disappointed. Some are just impossible to please. I don't know if I could be a sports fan if I never could get any satisfaction even after an off season like this. Just look at how many teams where their GM's didn't pull the trigger on much of anything? I will take my chances with Hahn's aggressiveness any day.
-
As always, I look forward to going to spring training but this upcoming spring training is going to be even that much more special. So many new faces I am excited to see in a sox uniform and also to see how the other pieces are developing in Eaton and the Garcia's. I am so pumped.

Wow. What a fun off season. It's like Hahn is setting the team up through a video game. How do all your targeted moves workout?
