QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 22, 2014 -> 06:51 AM) Loved everything about Guardians of the Galaxy. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was weird, it had actual moments where it was watchable and had some good nods to the 90s movie and show. And then it had moments where I should have turned it off Guardians is my favorite movie of the year by far. I seen it twice in the theaters and I never do that.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 22, 2014 -> 01:07 PM) I think Glazer even indicated they were the perceived front-runners. Hopefully Glazer has a good source on this! Helps that the Phins are out. Can they sign him December 29th? Bring it McCaskey's.
  3. So Hub Arkush was on his radio show saying that the Bears leadership has had contact/ at least phone calls to Holmgren in regards to some type of role he may play with the bears in this mess. Not necessarily for GM or anything particular but a "role". Possibly even for just consulting. He also said that Emery had no role at all in the benching of Cutler. Aaaaaaaaaand he also convinced me to go with my gut and that Cutler should stay with the Bears at this point because they will be better off. He has long been one of Cutlers detractors so it holds some weight coming from Hub.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 05:17 PM) Hard to miss the billboards. The source could be someone within the org, who knows. I mean, we could say he has nobody but s***, some teenager in Canada broke the Trestman hire because he was friends with Trestmans daughters. Who knows who is K0nas source? I'm sure Eric knows a lot more people plugged in than we would expect David Schuster's probably saying to himself "I should have never told that douchebag Eric that!"
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 05:04 PM) I don't think he is the person who is actually reporting it. Just happened to be first article I googled. All over social media apparently (I don't know who this Eric character is). Like I said, everyone at work knows me as the resident Bear fan and they all were running over to see if I had heard the news. They all heard it as it was a done deal and I was like, that can't be, cause you can't trade anyone right now. However, you could technically talk trade, etc, to lay the ground out for future and I guarantee Bears have done that and could just be playing all this very close to the vest. I may be giving them too much credit though. I also think it would be more likely that it was the case than Trestman going crazy and making some massive stand against Emery. That doesn't seem like Trestman's style at all. Trestman wanted to bench Jay in the Tampa game. Kromer told us this much. Now Trestman is benching him just so he can have some solace in the closing of his tender as coach. He believes once Jimmy does a good job running his offense it will prove that it was Jay's fault for all the issues they have had this year. Its not going to happen that way but I think Marc believes that Jay has to be the whole problem for why this team hasnt produced and this is Trestmans way of showing the world that.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 05:10 PM) Eric actually does appearances on Sports Talk Live and hobnobs with a lot of sports figures in Chicago. I'm not saying that he is correct, but he certainly could have a valid source that fed him this info Why wouldnt that source have just reported it themselves instead of letting that douche break it? Have you seen his billboards? My God I hate him so much and I have never listened.
  7. I am not sure that a young white lad would get away with that in Chicago. Maybe at an all white private school but not any where I went to school. LOL
  8. Yeah that guy is a dork and definitely not a source for chicago sports. I don't buy it for a second.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 01:28 PM) For both you and Hickory's wife, it is awesome and said another way, it is also a tremendous influence on your families and kids. As a parent, being able to be that role model from a hard work, dedication perspective, being their to help your kids, etc. is all crucial, but I also think it is critical when they look up and see that you have taken great strides to educate yourself, work hard, constantly strive to do your best as well as see how you treat other people (with respect, etc). Thank you Jas. You have given me the unintentional pep talk that I needed with this. Its easy to loose perspective sometimes.
  10. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 08:16 AM) Wife brag: as of this very moment, my wife is now a college graduate! She has completed an associate's degree in respiratory therapy. Just judging from everybody's posts, I suspect that nearly all of us who have college degrees were fortunate enough to be able to obtain them before acquiring the responsibilities of a spouse and/or children (myself included). My wife started this process when our children were 3 and 2. I don't think I have the discipline required to be able to get a degree under those circumstances. Very cool. I am living this right now myself and its not easy but its worth it for some many reasons.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 09:58 AM) Bernie Pleskoff ‏@BerniePleskoff 57s57 seconds ago Sorry my wording was awkward-Kemp deal has been approved and he is now with the #Padres. Kemp, Myers and Upton all in San Diego. That is pretty crazy. I wonder if any team has ever traded for a whole new outfield in an off season before.
  12. What is maddening about Emery is that he is sooooo obsessed with finding the diamond in the rough that he doesn't have any interest in making the logical and obvious moves...ever. He did it with the coach and most of his draft picks. I think you have to be able to make the predictable move at times because its the most beneficial for the team. I am pretty sure you still get credit for those moves that pan out to.
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 11:19 AM) I know he failed with the Browns but he was successful in Seattle and obviously in Green Bay. I guess the question with Holmgren is, does that mean we go cheaper on a coach, cause my #1 priority is Jim Harbaugh. I presume they could work together as long as their egos could fit into a room and Holmgren would probably hire a young personnel guy who could be groomed and do a lot of the heavy lifting and probably would be groomed into the role of GM. That would obviously be extremely expensive for the Bears though. I dont think there is any chance they will bring in both Holmgren AND Harbaugh. That would be outrageous money that the McCaskeys will not spend. And they will still be paying Phil and Trestman to not even be here.
  14. QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 10:52 AM) And yet they'll have the 10th most cap space next year and can get out of Jays contract for just a 3 mill cap hit the following year. Really? This is intriguing. Also Hub Arkish apparently hinted at the idea of Holmgren possibly come into the position if Emery is to be fired. He has had a relationship with the McCaskeys. That could be thing.
  15. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 03:58 PM) The NFL is n the easiest sport to turn around though. Teams go in and out of the playoffs. If they truly do add more teams next year it becomes even easier. They can change their direction quite easily if they make a few good decisive actions. It sounds likethey are going to make a few after the season. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 03:59 PM) I've been consistently impressed at how some teams are able to rapidly completely turn things around by nailing a draft or two even when I think they're down for years. The Atlanta Falcons are probably my best recent example of this - they looked like a disaster the year of the Vick suspension, I thought they would need years, they drafted Matt Ryan and were in the playoffs the next year. It seems like there's always at least one "rapid turnaround" from a poor record to a solid one in the NFL every year. In a way I can see this but in the Bears situation they are going to be hurt by the Cutler money for the next couple years no matter what happens. If Emery is the guy in charge still making decisions I have zero faith that he will have the homerun type drafts that this team will so desperately need in order to even compete in the near future. If Emery is fired that's a hell of a lot of pressure for the next guy (who will be brought in by Ted Phillips I might add ) to hit on nearly every draft pick and none of which will be a QB to set this team up in the future. There arent any Andrew Luck quality QB coming out of college next year.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 03:47 PM) I can't believe what a failure this franchise is. What is most disturbing in all of this is that I feel that they are continually making decisions now that will put this franchise back years and years to come with no end in sight. They have already predetermined failure for the next couple years just based on bad decisions in the past two years but I feel like the time table is continually being pushed forward by this idiots. They need to leave like yesterday so we can stop regressing further...IT JUST WONT STOP GETTING WORSE.
  17. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 11:28 AM) Ohhhhhhhhhh Its ground breaking.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 04:04 PM) 10 years ago there was so much offense that people wouldn't care that much about a guy who hits 25 home runs but under .250 with a sub.750 OPS in his best year. True dat. But they might have viewed him as the possible 35 HR potential guy.
  19. Man, if the sabes didnt exist it would have been so easy to trade Tank for something good! I bet 10 years ago you could have gotten a nice return for a guy like him.
  20. Tex hasn't completed poll yet....65+ is still at 0.
  21. The M's must not really want Viciedo. They have been rumored to Liking him for how long now?...and never pulled the trigger. Either the Sox are asking for a way too much in return and wont budge or they just don't like him as much as the rumor mill has indicated and don't even want him. He isn't going to the Mariners. It would have been done by now if he was.
  22. Where is Lillian and Melissa? They need to vote so its not ALL dudes.
  23. QUOTE (daggins @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 07:44 PM) Didn't even see your post. Great minds, I guess. Now I finally feel smart. This is cause for celebration.
  24. Is there any chance that the O's might be a fit for Tank? They have made no moves this off season and they have lost OF talent. Iono I'm just trying to think of what might fit if this M's ship has sailed.
  25. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 04:39 PM) General rule of thumb is to stay away from work relationships, right? Oh yeah. Unless it is one of the few that end up in marriage. Otherwise it always ends messy and makes the job a completely miserable place to be.
