I am such a petty Sox fan. It has brought me a lot of joy to see the Pirates terrible start out of spite. Just because of a couple Pirate fans on social media that have gushed over their team being sooooo awesome and them giving up any of their top prospects for Q would be ridiculous because of their great potential is just too valuable for a guy like Q. I know its early but like I said, I am petty.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 13, 2017 -> 03:04 PM) Didn't he actually have a great spring though? Maybe he did but not while I seen him. The worst was watching him work on the back fields. I really don't want to come off as some Smith basher because I am not angry they brought him up or anything. I just personally dont think he belongs in the ML's but they really don't have any other options.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 13, 2017 -> 02:49 PM) Why is that? I will say its mostly of what I seen of him offensively in ST up close. He was so unimpressive I walked away shaking my head thinking this guy has no offensive ability whatsoever. Didnt look like he belonged with major leaguers. Mind you, he is a catcher so offense is not as important and it was just a few days of seeing him that I came to this opinion.

Boston in 4.

Not a fan of Smith at all but whatever.

I am really liking how this rebuild is being set up right now. The Sox arent good enough to keep any kind of stretch of winning going so they will be bad enough. Its just great to see guys continue to play well with the hopes to flip them for a young player later.

Chicago White Sox @ Cleveland Indians 4/12/2017
shipps replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in 2017 Season in Review
I honestly dont think the start of this season could have gone any better. They are playing respectable ball which hopefully means the culture has changed. If this kind of play continues the value will only go up for nice returns in future trades. Moncada, Perez, and Kopech look like beasts down in the minors. Its been a good first week and a half overall, sucks that its a long season though. -

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 12, 2017 -> 09:19 AM) These are some of my biggest pet peeves. People are absolute morons. It's not that hard to get it right and yet very few people do. There are people that get all those right and still sound like absolute morons because of their opinion or thought. But I get it, pet peeves are all across the board different. Mine is the sound of someone chewing their food, I cant stand it to where it makes me physically uncomfortable that its hard for me to not say something to the person about it.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 12, 2017 -> 08:30 AM) Where the hell are your apostrophes shipps?! It's spelled didn't and don't!!! Don't make me report your ass. You can report me but I am the head of the Soxtalk Ministry of Apostrophes.

I really never noticed you didnt put periods because you are right, this is not a place where that matters. There are many other posters that do or dont do things that stand out way more to me than someone not putting a period. Especially because you still clearly end your thoughts.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 12, 2017 -> 08:04 AM) It bothers me greatly. I develop a rash whenever I read your posts...not because of the content, but because of the lack of punctuation. One of the founding fathers of ST is a strong proponent for bad punctuation and grammar.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Apr 11, 2017 -> 03:15 PM) Why not Rymer Liriano over Cody Asche. Why not Delmonico over everyone?

QUOTE (gosoxgo2005 @ Apr 11, 2017 -> 02:36 PM) Fellas, James just DMed me saying he posted this on here. Few things to clear some stuff up about what we are doing: A. Thanks for listening. We're obviously incredibly raw at this as we don't have much experience in radio/tv, but if you listened to episode 1 through the Hahn episode (9) we've def improved just from a vocal standpoint. We know we need to improve the "uhhs" and "f*ckins" and not use as many crutch words to improve the flow. It's getting better but there's still a ways to go. With that said, we plan on launching this to the MOON. Video, website, monetization, etc. We want this to be a grade A, legitimate source of info on the Cubs, Sox and eventually other teams that will fall under the RLR umbrella. This is the tip of the iceberg. We will not quit until it's the best podcast in chicago baseball. B. I obviously don't have a verbal filter on social media and say whatever (often stupid) thought comes to my mind, but I think it resonates with fans. I am lucky to have an extremely popular platform to "write" from as well that I kinda fell face first into. PS - Brian will be a reoccurring guest, and he is also a drunken buffoon C. I dont' really tell people I went to NU, people just don't realize one can be a diehard NU fan without having attended the school. Over the years so many people have assumed I went there that I just got sick of correcting them and just let them run with the assumption that I attended one of the best universities in the world. PS - Brian also assumed I went there when we first met Anyways, thanks for listening again, the reception was awesome and if anyone has any comments or critiques fire away, we know we have a lot of work to do to iron out the wrinkles. PS - sorry for those who hate me, I try not to be a dick but I know I am sometimes and if I ever pissed any of you off for whatever reason then consider this our internet hug it out moment You're a cool dude. Keep doing what you are doing.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 11, 2017 -> 12:43 PM) haha, I agree but I'll correct you on two things. Dave is a drunken fool and Dave did not go to NW he just tells people that. I kind of figured the NW thing was a 50/50 chance of being true. LOL
-
I would like to say that for those that have hated on Whitesox Dave and have labeled him as just a drunken fool have totally sold him short. The guy may be a drunk at times but he is no fool. Smart guy, NW graduate apparently, and is creating quite the empire via social media. He is a legit contact for Whitesox information in my opinion.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 02:37 PM) Not really. The season ticket holders are a pretty dedicated group. The has been a few but not many. We've had the same group around us since the 70's and the Bears have had some really bad runs in that time. I've seen many children grow up coming to game as people around me have seen my son grow up. This year will be interesting but I bet there won't be a huge turnover. This seems like its pretty much anecdotal evidence. I am curious as to what the real numbers on season ticket holders dropping out are. I've heard that its been more than ever but no real numbers. Do the Bears make that information public?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 01:34 PM) This board is a battered bunch. bears, sox and bulls kick us in the nuts every year Yeah my nuts are sore for sure. I am totally interested in all my teams but without a lot of others being interested along with me its just not as fun.

I enjoyed watching the game. Them playing well is only going to make for better returns on these guys. They arent going to win enough to not make trades.

Opening Day 4/4/2017 - White Sox vs Tigers

There will probably be a handful of teams that will love to get their hands on a guy like Saladino come July. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 08:29 AM) But they already got that ticket revenue. They are just letting fans attend a game they otherwise would not for free, which still gets them some concessions. It was totally a money grab. "Well we are paying for these people to work so may as well get what we can." Yeah, if they did it for the money they completely miscalculated the PR hit they would take that would totally make it not worth the little bit of money they would make in a few hours of concessions. -

The only thing I am not sure I buy is that it was a money grab. If it was would they be willing to exchange all tickets for future dates in probably the only sell out of the season? Also they are giving free parking today. Arent those usually like $20 bucks a pop? Yeah I am sure they made some money yesterday but not enough to be willing to risk a bad PR move. It seems like they got caught in between, like usual, and were unsure of how to approach this until it was too late after not making a decision. -

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 03:58 AM) Sorry to say this but so many of you guys are SOOOOOOO cheap. Sh&t happens. You lose 20 bucks on parking sometimes. From the sounds of it some of you would only be happy if they offered you up a date with the latest Playboy centerfold as a repayment for yesterday's rainout, lol. Life isn't fair at times. Today is a new day and a White Sox winner. Edit: Does Playboy have centerfolds anymore? I digress... I havent gone through the entirety of this thread as of yet but from most of the people that I talked to that were going were more pissed off about scheduling to coincide the game for their job and not being able to get two days off. They would have liked to know earlier yesterday that it would be postponed so that they could have made adjustments and went to todays game. A lot of people arent able to casually take off of work on a monday and tuesday. -

QUOTE (reiks12 @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 01:11 PM) I dont understand the scheduling. Why do they continue to have northern, non dome teams, host opening week? Meanwhile you have Oakland hosting the Angels... This is an age old question. -

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 12:47 PM) Looking at the forecast (I live nowhere near Chicago), I don't know why they are even bothering. Yeah, they should have moved this game. Why torture everyone involved?
