  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 11:37 PM) Was that incident b4 or after Ramirez's throwing error? Obviously AJ felt he might have had a CS or the play should have been made on the throw (Ramirez late getting there, maybe because he plays too far in the hole...), but the runner didn't advance to 3B or score, right? Is AJ really that upset about a stolen base against him after all this time? Maybe it's just because he is so competitive against the Twins. Surprised Konerko wasn't involved, but not his style...but he played horrible D tonight. He did cancel it out for Danks with the two run homer though. It was before. It looked to me that Ramirez was not only late getting there, but he backed away from the ball as well. If I had to guess, AJ said something like "Hey, get to the base in time and don't let the ball get away like that." and Ramirez probably took offense. My question is, when did Alexei learn english? Konerko did cost us 1 run, and he probably should have scooped the one throw by Ramirez, but as you said, he at least produced a little on offense, which is more than 7 other players did.
  2. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 11:37 PM) Ironic that Fernando Tatis also hit a grand slam today. Very true... His were both in the same inning, correct?
  3. Can Justin Upton play a good CF? Is he just playing RF because Chris Young is the better defender in CF? It seems to me it would make sense to have him play CF if he could.
  4. I've said it before, and I'll say it again.... I'd do anything to get Ian Stewart on this team.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 10:52 PM) what if he breaks his index finger and is out for 3 games? Then you'd also rather have the young guy with potential who is very likely to lose all 3 of those games because the receivers have suddenly gotten worse? I would understand if we were talking about someone good, but I don't see how a Brad Johnson type gives us a better chance to win than Hanie.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 10:52 PM) the Nationals aren't a terrible hitting team I wouldn't exactly say they are good either.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 10:54 PM) I want prospects added to the system to increase KW's ability to make bigger acquisitions in the offseason. Right now, our system is pretty thin if you consider Beckham and Richard to no longer be prospects. You're only looking at 5 or so legit guys in Danks, Dex Carter, Hudson, Viciedo, and Flowers (and potentially Mitchell) Poreda?
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 10:46 PM) Why can no one hit the Cubs pitching? Outside of the Lilly game against Philadelphia, their pitching has been amazing since the ASB. Well, they did face the Nats and Reds.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:16 PM) And Garcia is old and Russell hasn't shown a good work ethic. And it's not like Al Davis shies away from controversy; if anything, he is drawn to it. I could definitely see Davis signing Vick. Russell is a former no. 1 pick, is loaded with potential, has shown flashes, and the Raiders future is riding on him. They will be giving him every oppurtunity to start. And Garcia is still solid and a good guy to have behind Russell and help push him and maybe even teach him a thing or two. However, I could definitely see Davis going after Vick. However, it won't be as anything more than 3rd string QB and perhaps even move him to WR. Perhaps they form a "wildcat" (I hate the term wildcat. It's basically the spread option and all you do is run 99.9% of the time) with him at QB.
  10. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 10:36 PM) I don't know the exact numbers, but they are in good shape with the cap. Plus, players who just got cut aren't very expensive to begin with. I still have no problem with having Hanie as the backup QB. As I've said before, if Cutler gets injured, I'd much rather see a young guy with some potential rather than an old washed up vet getting the playing time.
  11. Josh Willingham with a decent night... hit only 2 grand slams.
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 10:22 PM) He's not going to blow the team up via waiver trades. The only thing we could get back are PTBNL.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 10:06 PM) Chone Figgins, ladies and gentlemen If we get Figgins, I assume we'll be looking to play him at either 3B or 2B. What we need on offense more than anything else, IMO, is a young, left handed, impact bat.
  14. Rumor is that the Red Sox offered Buchholz for Martinez and got turned down. They must want A LOT for Martinez.
  15. Okay, you can officially cross off Sherrill because it makes no sense for us to give up value that of Elbert (probably more) for Sherrill.
  16. Solid trade by the Giants as Barnes was definitely expandable and they sold high on Barnes who seems to be a good but not great prospect (although he has been dominating this year in advanced A ball).
  17. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 08:53 PM) This is a modest upgrade for the Giants. Not going to give them enough to win the wildcard though. They still need a power hitting RF, but Garko is quite the improvement over Ishikawa.
  18. Good move by the Giants and I'm very glad to see Garko leave the division, he always seemed to kill us.
  19. Great read, very interesting stuff. Sounds like a good guy who loves the game. I really want to see some video of him pitching.
  20. I guess the most logical reasoning behind this is that we don't want him having a rough start that could hurt his value before the trade deadline.
  21. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 12:40 AM) This is like the 4th time I've seen you ask this same question on this board. I always forget, lol.
  22. I pray to god that Floyd starts the opener vs. the Yankees. I really don't want to see Contreras pitch on the only Sox game I get to go to this year.
  23. Which one is the higher level, Bristol or Great Falls?
  24. Either all of these trade rumors are false, or both the Angels and Blue Jays are very stupid. The first rumor was that the Blue Jays turned down Weaver and that seems extremely stupid. Now, if it's true the Angels offered Weaver but now only had to give Saunders and Aybar with one failed prospect and another meh prospect, and they feel that is too much to give up, that's beyond stupid. All of these rumors have to be BULL.
  25. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 11:59 PM) Brought to you by the same team that insists on having a certain outfielder who shall remain nameless. Jerry Owens? Oh wait, we finally got rid of him after almost 3 years of suckage.
