  1. If this is true, the Reds are beyond dumb... I'm with Fathom, sell high now!
  2. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 11:59 AM) But do you honestly think he carries much value anymore? At the end of 2007 was the time to trade him. Not that I wanted him traded, but his value has just dropped off a cliff since then. He doesn't have much value by himself, but fathom is probably right in the sense he could be a decent piece in a package for a bigger trade.
  3. What was Alexei trying to do in the first place? What an idiotic slide. If he just did a normal take out slide, he would have never got injured. Also, it seemed to me he overexaggerated his injury. Sure, it hurts, but he spent a good minute or two just rolling around on the turf. Does anyone else get the feeling he has vaginitis? He doesn't like to stay in 2B hard when he is turning DP's, he doesn't do good take out slides, everytime he gets some chin music he hits to deck and lies there for a minute, he always covers his head on pickoff throws to first, he seemed to get his feelings hurt when AJ called him out, etc. He's coming close to Alex Rios territory.
  4. If we do get Pie, I'm pronouncing his name as the food. Also, how awesome would it be if he pans out for us and makes the cubs look foolish?
  5. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 04:11 AM) Did you hear the part about Nix being able to hit 35 home runs per year? I'm not sure if Hawk and Stone were joking about it, or if Stone was just mocking Hawk. probably the latter. They were just saying if you spread out Nix's HR rate over the course of a full season, that'd be 30-35. However, Nix does have potential to be a 20+ HR guy if he finds some consistency at bat.
  6. Plus, it would make Jenks expandable in the offseason as we could place Sherrill in the closer spot and know we'll get solid results
  7. When I saw Cole in ST, he looked awful. However, when I saw him in the AAA all-star game, he looked to have a much better approach at bat. I still have hope for him, depending on how good his defense is. Perhaps a Paul Bako type but a lot more power.
  8. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 11:29 PM) The last few years I've sucked with a wood bat, but I'm going aluminum for this year. I would freaking love to do that. I'm thinking about moving down to Birmingham now!
  9. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 11:52 PM) It's too long for me to read. I browsed it. That thing had me dying. I read like the first 2 pages and just jumped and skimmed around after that. Some of the funniest ones were ones sent to family members.
  10. Did anyone of you guys look at the example thread? That thing is like 60 pages of pure gold.

    Moving on out....

I'll be living with 2, maybe 3 other football guys. We'll be spending about 12 hours a day for the first month on nothing but football (practice, film, etc.), so the rest of the time we'll probably just chill in the apartment. A lot of football guys live in the same complex or near by as well. I can't wait for school to start though. I got an extremely easy 1st semester, and I'll get to meet new people.

QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) What school are you playing football for? Harper JuCo.

    Moving on out....

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:37 PM) You haven't started practicing with the team yet? Practice doesn't start until Monday. Most college camps don't start until August anyway. D-I is a completely different story though.
  14. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:32 PM) and again stubborn ozzie decides to play nix at SS instead of beckham who is a natural SS.....im so sick of ozzie If Ramirez will be back in a few days or a week, it makes sense to keep Beckham at 3B. If it turns out Ramirez is gonna miss a large chunk of time, then yeah, Beckham should be moved back to short.
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:25 PM) He made Mauer and Morneau look silly. We'll see how he does vs. them next time... if there will be a next time.
  16. I really don't care either way. I just don't want to see us stay in the middle. Either make a move to actually improve this team, or start selling. This is really the worst possible spot we could be in at this time. Would have much preferred for us to be either in 1st place or actually look like a competent team most of the time, or be 10 games out. Being stuck in the middle only hurts us in the long run.
  17. This is brilliant. If it doesn't work out, you save face as it's just a joke and you post it on here for some laughs. And, you might actually get some action if a girl takes you up on your request. BRILLIANT!

    Moving on out....

Moving out this Saturday. I'm the last of 5 kids (well, actually my one brother who is still in college is at home still), I'm sad because I think I am making my mom sad. But I'm also very excited to finally be by myself and playing football again (it's been a long however many months since November). Also, I'll still see my family a lot. I'm gonna see my family at most home games or games in Illinois. Also, after football season, I'll probably make my way back home during the weekend a lot as well as for Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you have any advice, stories, or whatever, please share.
  19. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:30 PM) Thome should be back tomorrow according to MLB.com Hooray, time to see him swing and miss at 90+ mph fastballs right down the middle!
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:19 PM) Just like how Buddy Bell came into our minor league system and broke things up, we desperately need that with our big league club. That would mean the end of Kenny, and we all know that aint happening anytime soon.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:15 PM) Do you actually trust Ozzie to use Kotsay properly though? Also, as I discussed yesterday, with Fields being sent down, what righties would Kotsay even PH for? True, Ozzie horribly mis-uses the bench. As for players he'd pinch hit for, I can only think of Wise and Nix when they start.
  22. Someone bring up playoffs so we can bring Jim Mora into this as well.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:08 PM) Couldn't agree more. At least we sent down Fields as soon as we could so he couldn't face a LHP. If we do contend, Kotsay is a much needed PH off the bench. We are probably the worst team in all of baseball when it comes to pinch hitting. However, if we don't contend, Kotsay will be the equivalent of 2007 Erstad.
  24. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 06:13 PM) Seriously, Alderson? Ugh, this just makes me want to trade Lexi even more. I really wonder what Boston would offer up for him. Clay Buchholz would be fantastic.
  25. I could see Beckham developing into a more walks than K type of a guy. I could see him striking out about 70-90 times a year while walking 80+ times.
