QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 07:30 PM) It's been described as if you slept on your arm all night, and being that I do that all the time and I have s***ty circulation, I understand. Sometimes I cant open a door when I wake up in the morning. McCoy has been a warrior in the NCAA the last several years and anyone who said he stayed out because of the draft is f***ing retarded. Oh, so because my opinion is different than yours im "f***ing retarded." Im sure you know exactly what was going on in Colt's mind at that moment, and IM sure you were in the locker room when everyone was discussing the matter at hand. I never once acted like I knew for a fact McCoy sat out because of the NFL draft. However, in my opinion, hell yeah it played it a huge factor in his decision. It was HIS decision, not anyone else's, and HE chose to sit out. -

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 11:12 PM) And his arm was ripped off. What part of that can't you understand? The fact that he was joking around with VY, and showed full movement of his arm on the sidelines leads me to believe he could have gone back in. -

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 10:56 PM) Wow. Nice posts there by you two. There's no one that gets to a championship game and wants to come out. No one. Ever. I'm no huge Texas fan, either... but saying that McCoy didn't want to play or should have been a decoy or that his teammates hate him or whatever for this is a pretty damn stupid thing to say. Its you last collegiate game ever, and the NC. My arm would have to be ripped off before I ever left the field. Hell, maybe he couldn't throw, but one of McCoy's biggest assests is his ability to run the ball. You could have rotated QB's to take some of the pressure off of Gilbert. Run a lot of the zone read or option with him. I firmly believe his NFL future played a HUGE factor in his decision. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 11:46 AM) That is never a good call. You make a call like that, that early in the game, if you don't think you have a shot in hell to win. Its the NC, you don't hold anything back. Obviously it was a play they practiced and if it was there, which it was, it could have been huge. You gotta take chances and risks, its the last game of the season and the last football game ever for a lot of seniors. Gotta go for it all. -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 08:04 PM) This is a ridiculous start. Bama's absolutely idiotic fake punt on 4th and 23 in their own end? McCoy being out. That absurd short kick onside recovery. Wow. Are you kidding me? If the punter makes a good throw, thats a first down and plus some. It was a good aggressive call on the most important game of most of those players lives. It was open, Texas wasnt ready... the punter just p**** armed the throw. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 12:43 AM) Seriously? There's no way he doesn't go back into the game if is healthy enough to do so. It's the national championship game, kind of a big deal. If he was so concerned with the NFL, he would have left last year. I don't see how you can say nothing could have stopped him. If you can't feel your arm, kind of hard to throw a football. Just my guess. What do you want him to do, throw left handed? That would really help lead the team. I'm sure he loved watching his freshman QB and entire offense look like s***, not wanting to "risk it." Wow. The reason why didnt leave because everyone and their mother knew he would be lucky to get into the 3rd round last year. This year, he'd be lucky to make it into the 2nd. Also, I didn't see one attempt of him on the sideline trying to throw a ball. Also, the x-ray was negative, his dad says it wasn't serious, and it was reported to be a mild sprain. You can play through a mild sprain. I guarantee the reason he did not come back into the game is because he thinks he can be a first round draft pick (he wont be), and an injury would only hurt his chances. -

McCoy seems like a good guy and all, but there is no doubt in my mind the only reason why he didn't come back was because of his NFL future. And yeah, that is the smart move in the long run, but I still feel he completely abandoned his teammates. Plus, that clip of him chit chatting with VY and smiling and joking made me sick. Seriously, your team is about to lose the NC, and your joking around? Your not in the game, but your teammates still look towards you. And yeah, they reported he wanted to come back in but was recommended not to, but thats BS. Since the x-ray was negative, there was no medical reason that could prevent him from coming back. If he really, truly, wanted to come back in, there was nothing that could have stopped him. I would have at least liked to see him attempt to throw a pass on the sideline. Also, its a shame many of the lesser bowls were far more exciting than all of the BCS bowls. Best bowl game this season, Outback or GMAC? or other? -

I could easily see the Cyclones going 7-5 or even 8-4. I think Paul Rhoads is a fantastic coach. -

Good day for the Big Ten. Great game with NU, but very disappointing loss. Demos single-handedly blew the Wildcats oppurtunities of winning their 1st bowl game in 60+ years... Congrats, what a wonderful way to end your career as a football player. 4 missed kicks (1 that would have for sure won it), and shanked punts left and right. -

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Dec 30, 2009 -> 10:30 PM) How is Freddie Barnes not atleast in the 2nd or 3rd rounds of the walterfootball.com mock draft? He is a stud. Maybe I'm biased so Detroit (with the 2nd pick) doesn't take Suh, but if I'm St Louis, I take Suh #1 overall and take a QB with my second pick in the 2nd round. Maybe because he will run a 4.65 at the combine... However, I hate 40 times and think they are extremely overrated. -

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 30, 2009 -> 01:53 PM) The size of the locations doesnt excuse the action of locking someone in there and saying if you come out we are kicking you off the team. http://dennis-dodd.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc...270202/19238949 Call me crazy, but I think this was one final effort by Leach to maybe wake this douchebag James up. However, instead James runs to daddy and cries like a little girl. Ive never been a fan of Leach, but he wins games and did absolutely nothing wrong. -
They probably know something about his arm that we dont know.

Yankees near deal for Javy Vazquez & Boone Logan
BearSox replied to LittleHurt05's topic in The Diamond Club
I wouldnt be surprised to see Javy do real good in New York this time around. He had a fantastic season last year, and perhaps that gave him a much need confidence boost. He's got something to prove, and we'll have to wait and see how that turns out. Overall, for what they gave up, this is a good deal for the Yankees. If they could get a .500 record and an ERA below 4.5, that aint terrible out of your no. 4 or 5. -
I do and dont get this deal. By the looks of it, none of the prospects the Phillies are getting in return from the Mariners will be a part of the Halladay deal. However, Phillipe Amounte and Gillies are very good prospects to get in return for Lee. But if I wanted to win now, I would keep Lee, use Drabek, Turner, and other prospect(s) for Halladay, and just dominate the NL with a great offense and the possibly the best rotation in baseball. However, trading Lee while his value is at it's peak is not a bad move. Good move for both the M's and Jays though. This deal can turn be good, bad, or indifferent for the Phillies. Signing Halladay to the extension is what makes the most sense for the Phillies.

First and foremost, I believe it depends on your financial situation. If you can barely get by without kids, no reason to have a kid. Kids are extremely expensive. Hopefully though I become financially sound and have at least 4 and the maximum being 7 or 8. Im old fashioned and want a big family. Coming from a decent sized family (4 siblings), I found growing up with siblings to be beneficial. In all reality, I only lived with 2 siblings and the oldest two were already in college by the time I was old enough to care. I dont know, it all depends on what floats your boat. Plus, once Im old and retired, I want grand kids to keep me occupied.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 09:51 PM) Good God almighty. This is the exact same crap that was said about Jose Contreras right after the Loiaza deal was made. Can we give it a season at least before declaring him a bust? weve actually had a good track record with pitchers though... hitters on the other hand.
-
heavens no... but if we could trade jenks for a legit, mlb ready hitting prospect, sign me up.

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Dec 13, 2009 -> 08:08 PM) Really? I find it very difficult to get excited about a player as mediocre as Garko. He's average to below average defensively. He doesn't hit for much power, doesn't walk, isn't quick. He's completely bleh for me. Now Cust on the other hand... For a cheap option, Id be all over him. Its very plausible Garko can still get better, and he's proven to give you at least some production. Plus, he mashes lefties, and Im sick and tired of seeing us get owned by any average lefty starter. Id rather bring back Thome than sign Cust. Hell, at this point, I wouldnt mind bringing back Dye as the DH.
-
Id be all over Ryan Garko as an option for DH
-
Kelly Johnson makes too much sense.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 13, 2009 -> 04:19 PM) I'll gladly take Putz at $3M over Carrasco at $2M, the potential upside between the 2 isn't even close. Somehow I'm not too broke up about losing the 33 year old coming off a career year as a mop-up man. Im sorry, but you make no sense to me. Sure, potential is one thing, but Putz is far from a sure thing. Hey, I dont mind the Putz signing. Well Ive never been a big fan of Putz, but he can turn out to be a real solid pickup. Putz is a huge injury risk and might wind up pitching a total of 10 innings in 2010, but we'll see what happens. Also, I love how you bring up age. Putz is actually the same age as Carassco. If you really want to nitpick about pointless facts, Putz is actually 2 months older. Personally, I would have brought in Putz and kept Carrasco. But if you want to win ball games, Ill take the 33 year old career year mop up man over the 33 year old huge injury risk. At least with the mop-up man, you have an idea of what your getting.
-
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 27, 2009 -> 09:37 PM) Above average compared to what? The average line for an AL leadoff man in 2009 was .284/.355/.420/.775 and a 76% SB percentage. Ill take what Scott Podsednik did last year from the leadoff spot any day of the week... the problem is he now thinks he's a stud FA and the odds of him repeating 09 are about as good as mine to win the lottery.

I think KW is mediocre at best. Love ya for 05, but lets face it, we've been a very mediocre team for the majority of KW's run as GM.
-
lol @ the idea of Omar Vizquel being able to be a quality starter at 2B. This aint 1999 anymore.
